Vita PSN Game & Service Thread 2

Ah, so it's just the typical Totobeni negative fudging. He'll probably drop by again and say it's never coming.

Here's some actually founded speculation:

This is Kamitani's lifelong dream project. All hands on deck, pour everything into it kind of stuff. They were hiring more people and expanding the studio to work on it.
Grand Knight's History, for this reason, never saw a western release. They simply didn't have the time or funds to help Xceed bring it over (even though the translation was complete).
Ignition goes from being a development/publishing house to just publishing (Japan studio's El Shaddai was the last game they made in-house).
Shortly thereafter, ATLUS gets the publishing rights from Ignition.
A PSblog post by Avi gets put up. Vanillaware is getting development help from Atlus, they're expanding the game's scope, and it will no longer have a 29.99$ price point (39.99 confirmed by Avi for Vita).

So it seems obvious that
1. Vanillaware was creating a game more massive than any they've done before, and needed help (plus money, if they're doing work on Muramasa's 4 new characters and quests).
2. Ignition, closing their dev side, couldn't provide that.
3. Atlus picks it up, gets some of the SMT & Persona people on board.
4. Vita still confirmed in late April. Game still set for Japanese release in Q1-Q2 2013 as of October.

Edit: Speak of the devil.
ok thanks

What are the must have PSP games that I can play on my Vita? I never owned a PSP and don't really know its games.

Currently I have Valkyria Chronicles 2 and Trails in the Sky on my list. Please don't recommend me any sports, racing or fighting games.

I was going to say Trails in the Sky, but you already got that covered. Here's a couple of my favorites: Tactics Ogre, Ys 7, Persona 3 Portable, and FFT: War of the Lions.

Others will recommend you other good stuff, but get No Heroes Allowed as well! Surprise of the year for me.

Gurumin: A Monstrous Adventure for people who want a 3D Zelda experience(and Zelda fans too), get it from the PSP section for $15, It''s amazing action RPG, with cute characters and very interesting story, beautiful and big challenging dungeons, funny dialogues,3D platforming, neat combat system (and mapping the camera to the right stick instead or L/R make it even better).

and it look very good on Vita's Screen.

Also must buy

-Gods Eater Burst
-LocoRoco (1,2 and Midnight Carnival)
-Patapon 1/2 (remember to use some decent headphone, Vita speakers are garbage)
-Phantom Brave
-Prinny 1/2
-Syphon Filter (if your are in europe)

Remember don't buy Persona 3 Portable or Monster Hunter Freedom Unite because they are horrible.

Tactics Ogre, the best.

you guys know that hurt no? ;_;

No I just copy and pasted that and forgot to remove them. clumsy and all that jazz.

I still love you. But you may need to bite a pencil as you post, so that you're smiling and optimistic.
I have nothing against Toto either. Sometimes he just needs a hit on his head :p

On a different note, is there anything that transfers between the demo and full version of Ragnarok?

I only played the demo but it did seem like it was going to be really tedious. Granted I don't see much in that genre anyway.

For some reason I kinda like those kind of games. Just chill out grinding on them while watching a film I have seen before and having a drink.

What I liked about PSO back in the day.

So I bought a Vita and P4: Golden yesterday.

I'm a huge RPG nerd, so I've got these games on my to-buy list :

1) FF Tactics
2) Tactics Ogre
3) Disgaea 3

What else should I keep an eye on?

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky. While I haven't personally played it(I want to!), all I've ever heard for it is praise.

plus it's falcom so can you even go wrong

Ah damn it I just noticed VLR won't get here until Monday. It's sitting in Orlando which is only a few hours from here :(

The mail should deliver on Sunday so I can get my game!

so you got Zero Escape but not Persona 4 Golden?

is it because P4G is long?

PSP Ridge Racer was not bad at all. I'd still the better visuals of RR Vita, though.

it isn't about the game quality (he is not laughing on Ridge Racer PSP or think it's bad), Lusankya said he don't want sport or racing game..I just copy/pasted my list and forgot to remove RR from it.

and yes RR PSP is amazing.

Wow, my bad. Looks like we both missed it!

I loved RR PSP also. Kinda disappointed by RR Vita, but it's not as bad as everyone says, IMO.

Seriously though - another guy just asked a similar question, so check out the answers above. Trails in the Sky is another one, as are the Ys games if you'd like some ARPG goodness in your Vita. Persona 2/P3P are on the store as well - but quite expensive. P2 is a fantastic game.

And then you've got a lot of other NISA wildcards like Cladun X2 which I haven't seen anyone really talk about ITT.

While I'm really impressed with the presentation of Sine Mora, I'm not sure that it's my kind of game. I thought I would enjoy the demo more given that I love SSD. Hungarian voices offer a very nice touch.

Yeah, I don't find it too terrible. The lack of content on the cartridge bugged me, but no actual Story/Career mode is bogus. It's still fun if you have an itch for racing.

Thank you for the heads up, :P

Are there any dashboard mounts for the Vita?

I've decided mounting it to my drawing table to stream Netflix would be better than turning on the entertainment center in the other room and turning around every so often while drawing. :3

I think the official stand might do a better work for you http://www.amazon.com/dp/B006JKARZS/?tag=neogaf0e-20

but drawing and watching movies at the same time? don't you people just listen to music while drawing?

Drawing table is at the highest angle I can set it at. Nearly 45 degrees. I'd prefer a secure suction mount so shit don't slide all around. :P

So far as distraction process - sometimes there's music, sometimes I listen to my podcast shows, and sometimes I want to turn on a mindless TV series like How I Met Your Mother (where I can listen without needing to look), or listen to a good documentary.

Surge is a pretty fun little game, though it could definitely use a more interesting visual scheme and more music.

Yeah I agree. Cool concept but quite limited, and since most of the challenge is derived from the tension of clearing blocks as fast as possible while still amassing combos, it tends to be a bit of a slog when you start a new game.

I definitely still recommend it though, good price for what you're getting. Futur should expand Surge into a meatier $5-10 release with more modes/options. It might be one of Vita's best.

Yep, that would be perfect.

I fully agree. Give me unlockable skins ala Lumines and more modes that all have leaderboards, and this could very well be one of the best games on the system.

Dunno guys, Surge is play for 2 mins one time and never touch it again sort of a game, with no depth or strategy or whatever(it's like those random free flash games that pop in on your internet browser when you are searching for funny kitten photos) I'm not sure how they can even improve it.

and the dev should just focus on making a big Velocity sequel for PS3/Vita and stay away from PSM.

Lovin the Vita

it's a cool device. with my gaming PC it's the only other gaming device I use right now.

If you want, I am willing to get into a full discussion over this where I would explain to you why I would argue that this game has a lot of potential, but let me preface that with a question: How long did you play it so far?

Yeah, I don't see myself playing it more than a few times in its current state. But I've enjoyed it enough for $3 and change. I needed something quick and instantly gratifying. I thought Sine Mora would scratch that itch, but it's a tad too ponderous for me right now. I still haven't tried Velocity.

Toma are you going to get Stranger's Wrath on Vita?

I'm just proud that you actually bought a PSMobile game.

Would be better if they give us a native remote play for the PC.

I already own it on Steam and havent played it yet on Steam. Though I played the original for a bit.
I'll get it once more.

Yeah, I have it on Steam and PS3 lol. I haven't played it on Steam, and I started on PS3 but stopped once I heard it was coming to Vita because I don't know if I would have been able to make myself do another full playthrough.

We dont know yet, tbh. He could be judging that from videos.

But he seems so sure of his opinion ;)
