Giant Bomb Thread The Third: #TeamBrad

When there is a big spoiler-heavy discussion in the Bombcast, why not just time it and edit in a 5 second note with Ryan saying where to skip to if you want to avoid it? From what I could tell from my skip-play-skip-play listen, the ME3 discussion from last week ended in the 56th minute or so, and it was a little annoying having to risk spoiling the game for myself because I didn't know how long it would take

As an aside, it seems like they're unaware that a lot of people will be new to the series because of the Trilogy release on PS3. They sometimes talk as though everybody who ever intended to play Mass Effect has already played it

It's the journey man. I watched an hour and a half long indoctrination theory video on youtube so I could be pepared for this bombcast without playing the game. It is more important that I enjoy the cast fully.

Speaking of ruining things for myself, I put 999 down after getting my first bad ending. I don't plan on playing through it again to get to the point where I can start speed running endings (I don't have the game anymore). What is the best way to catch up, because I own the sequel and want to play it? Do I watch videos of the whole playthrough, or is just the ending moments ok?

lol. I edited the tagline on Brad's article on the beta wiki to say "Routinely exceeds the NeoGAF RDA", but someone changed it to this and it's way better:

"Guinness Book of World Record's holder for largest collection of Civil War era pornography."

It also says that he died today. This beta wiki truly is a magical place.

It would be nice to see some effort put into time stamping the Bombcast but I wish they would do more big spoiler conversations. That hour long discussion was great and I'd like to hear more about the games their playing without tip toeing around possible spoilers.

From the way Jeff has been talking about the podcast, I'd be surprised if they push to dedicate more effort towards it until they find a way to leverage it financially for the site. I think they all like doing it and I they know it's super popular but they dedicate at least 3 hours for 5 people and in the end it doesn't necessarily draw much traffic to the site or its difficult to tell if it's drawing traffic.

Maybe they should give their more dedicated wiki editors the ability to officially timestamp the podcast. Add it to the podcast page as an official user managed feature. It won't be done immediately at release but at least there will be something.

Generally, I'll just keep skimming for a bit, depending on how much the game they're talking about is something I want to play. However, if I have access, I'll just look for a post or post about it in the podcast thread to see where to skip to.

Letting a dedicated member(s) do it would be much appreciated, though.

That's why Ryan wrote in the description to skip the first hour of you don't want ME3 spoilers.

I thought any rational person could read his description this week and conclude to skip the first hour if they wanted to avoid spoilers.

Guess not.

As someone that has not played ME3 that's exactly how I read it. I win at deduction!

So, do you guys remember the Megaman 2 / GB thing that was made a while back? Apparently there is now a boss fight available to play. Here's the intro and footage of the fight. I laughed so hard at the fight sound effects.

I vote this. It would benefit not only spoiler discussions but everything.

Their reply to the podcast timestamp thing (it's brought up to them ever week or so btw) is that to be able to do that they would have to change the file format used and they prefered to stay with .mp3 because of the versatility and ease of use by anybody on any platform.

They could just edit in a voice that says skip to x time.
