God, this climbing achievement in AC3:Liberation takes forever.

Got up to 5407meters naturally/getting other achievements. Leaving this one with 3000meters to do. Get 1.5meters per jumping up a highwall. Takes a while. :/

Rubber band your vita. That's what I did.

I'm just going to come out and say it, Vitabros. There are too many Vita games. Seriously, I have so many Vita games that I always have trouble deciding what to play. And now today I got Stranger's Wrath, Rayman Origins, and Sonic Racing! WHAT ON EARTH IS HAPPENING!

I'd really like some Sigma 2 footage if it's out as early as March over here.

I really liked NG2 despite some flaws. With twerks, it could be incredible.

So what's the verdict on AC:L? Some was good, some was bad at the time - but interested to see what people think after that patch came out and the dust has settled after release.

Still got my eye on that, Sonic Racing, Dokuro, Strangers Wrath, and a few others. Need to make a decision - I want a new game for my 10 days off work!

Alright game that could have used a bit more time in the oven. Still better than AC3.

This is a good quick summary. If it wasn't for AC3's spectacular failure I think the failings in this game would stick out a bit more than it does.

Off topic a bit, but what's so bad about AC3?

Technical problems: Bugs everywhere on a Bethesda-level, framerate consistently in the low 20s and teens in Boston/New York, pretty bad pop in at times.

Lots of gameplay and design issues too. It has all of the problems the old games had like too much auto gameplay and barely any skill involved in the combat but they made it worse with even more auto stuff in battles and the double counter-kills. Took assassination missions out for more junk side content that acts as nothing more than traditional Ubisoft filler. Stuff like delivering letters and collecting feathers.

The story is as big of a mess as it is in Liberation with the game jumping all over the place and jumping years at a time only to throw you right into some random situation with no build up or explanation. Not to mention it's really poorly written to begin with.

Probably the only redeeming factor in this game is the naval stuff.

Finally picked up New Little King's Story. Only a few hours in, but I'm enjoying it so far. For anybody who's played it, any tips regarding Alchemy or how to equip items you find?

I've only played an hour so far since I bought the BF deal and I'm having a hard time getting through it. The the combination of sub-par IQ, sluggish framerate and deplorable audio is killing my enthusiasm.

On a side note I'm beginning to think that all the PSP games from the PSP Go promo simply don't work on the Vita. It's a shame because it means I have to rebuy GT and Motorstorm...

Oh yeah the audio was shit too. I had to jack my TV volume up 6 notches above normal (which is a lot for mine) just to hear the dialogue.

I'm nearly there with manual work. 8087meters. I'm going to bed and will get the last 800 meters tomorrow. But GOD. Who thought this was a good achievement with how short the singleplayer is?

I dunno. I'm going to finish the singleplayer story of AC3 tomorrow (in sync with the "story" timeline that would have Desmond finish up on 12/20. Yes, I'm a nerd for wanting my achievement for completing the story to match up with that) but I had fun with it. You're right the bugs get in the way (and the optional objectives are pure WTF. DO NOT SHOVE OF BUMP INTO ANYONE! *proceeds to do that because the objective doesn't show up quick enough at times)

Framerate didn't seem that bad to me, but then again I've gone through AC1 360, AC1-3/Bro/Rev PS3 to where framerate is probably just used to it by now.

Sidequests: Agreed. But I don't really mind them.

Combat is the one I have issues with. I prefered the "auto-combat"/"counter is all you need" system. Here you have to press O(counter) in time with Square(kill) as a followup. Some people compared it to Batman Arkham (City/Asylum/whatever) and while I can see the similarity, it doesn't feel as smooth as those. And frankly losing the dodge ability (R1/X to jump back) is pure WTF if they wanted to revamp the system WHY WOULDN'T YOU ALLOW DODGING IN THIS NEW SYSTEM? It makes total sense!

But yeah, I want the "four button"/limb-system of the Animus back. Because condensing it A/B (O/X on PS3) Nintendo NES-level of two inputs is stupid.

Why ever would you do it manually when you can rubber band it and have it done overnight? =P

Because I worry I'll fuck up my analog sticks doing that. I'm paranoid. And it isn't that bad while watching TV. *shrug*

NGS2 might as well be a different game from 2, with the changes that were made.
It's more comparable to NG1 in terms of encounter style and pace, despite having the same combat system as 2.

Apparently bad enough for you to complain about in this thread a few times =P

I just figure the mp is enough of a grind, might as well save myself the trouble on this one.

Got my AC3 Vita set. LBP and P4G already gotten.

AC3 is soo good(wish it came with a case...) LBP is the best LPB by far. Haven't even touched P4G yet.

Is Sonic Racing good on Vita?

yes it is, ignore the IGN review of it, the game runs very well and looks good.

Huh. Fair enough. Glad I've been skipping them then, since that sounds like the shift from 1-2 as well and I wasn't a fan of that... I mean, don't get me wrong, AC2 was solid and all, but it was missing something from the first game... it just felt like a GTA game. It was a good one (I 100% it twice -- 360 and PS3), but so much missed potential.

Hey, guess what other thing AC3 has that they didn't spend even 2 seconds telling the player?

It's not quite the same, but you can dodge by pressing X as an enemy is swinging. Not that they every teach you this.

Picked up Oddworld Strangers Wrath and Persona 4 Golden today...

But I think my Vita might have to be sent to Sony. The touchscreen is sporadically not responding, and when it does, it's often quite inaccurate.

I think the touchscreen is about to kick the bucket. Anyone have a similar issue? Or a way to fix it?

Before I get to bed, I just want to say that I'm loving Stranger's Wrath. For those concerned about the visuals, here's some shots I took of the beginning of the game:

Self-shadowing on Stranger is kept from the PS3 version, although there seems to be some dithering and jaggies on the edges.

Some textures look low res, but if you look closer you find that they are more detailed then they appear. It is NOT dynamic LOD, just textures colored in a way that displays detail depending on the distance (so grey blobs up close look like cracks further away).

The game runs at a steady 30fps so far and plays quite well. I'll need to spend some more time with it before I come to any definite conclusions about how well the controls work though.

I'm assuming you have it? Have you been getting online matchmaking to work? No luck here just errors me back out to the menu everytime :/

Not yet but in the OT for the game, the Vita owners have stated it's good. Try to get in touch with them and see if they can add you to their Friends list =)
I won't be getting the game til late december due to the sale...I'm gonna end up spending more than $100 on US PSN at this rate lol.

Thank you for this post.

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one in the world that has issues with these games.

I feel less alone now! :-P

Right guys!

Taking bets for what the January plus for EU will be!

My thoughts are;

Modnation,
Wipeout,
Retro city rampage,
Some psp game

Well, I hope it's not Modnation, I bought that when it was on offer a few weeks ago. :-P

Wipeout I platinumed too, but it'll be pretty cool for anyone that hasn't played this to have it.

And yes please on Retro City Rampage. I'll take that with pleasure. (but I doubt it)

I'm reasonably sure that they said it was safe to buy the games on the Plus sale when it launched, as they wouldn't be free in the foreseeable future, and Modnation was on that sale, so I doubt it.

Got modonation and wipeout already.

Modnation isnt even worth having for free.

Retro city rampage il take and id be happy for jet set radio. Both games I wouldnt buy outright but happily have on plus.

Id also like dynasty warriors and maybe some of the other release games I didnt bother with like army corps of hell and stuff. Again, games I wouldnt pay for outright but would happily play if I got them on plus.
