Giant Bomb Thread The Third: #TeamBrad

Maybe I'm late noticing this, but there's a GameFAQs tab on the Giant Bomb store now?

Anyway, I think I'd like to grab the new Giant Bomb hoodie since I now have two years-worth of unused $15 off membership coupons, but the store only lets me use one coupon code at a time. Anybody know who I should contact about this? I don't want to bother Dave since he's been busting his balls getting the beta up and running.

So what is going to be the Game of the Year battle this year? Will it be everyone for Walking Dead versus Brad for Mass Effect 3, with Brad filibustering himself to victory again? Can't wait.

I think X-Com will be a part of the battle but will lose out on technical issues...which it shouldn't but will :(

Yeah, I'm betting on XCOM vs. Walking Dead. I'm sticking with my earlier predictions: XCOM will win.

Brad is the the wildcard, though, since he seemed slightly disappointed with the resolution of Walking Dead (identity of the antagonist), and XCOM had enough issues for him to stop playing it.

You guys don't think Far Cry 3 will be up there? I have only played the beginning so I don't know how it ends but prior to it they seemed to like almost everything about it. I think it's a strong contender but they seemed super soured on the ending.

Also not sure if it's been discussed in the thread (it probably has) but Jeff's comment about the GOTY stuff being the 'most ambitious' thing that they've undertaken got me a little hyped.

Yeha, I hope it's there because it's my GOTY but the ridiculous amount of hate that Patrick has for that game probably killed all its chances.

Both Jeff and Patrick seemed really disappointed with the end. I wouldn't be shocked to see it make their the bottom half of their personal lists, but I don't think either is fired up enough to convince the rest of the team to make it GOTY.

So true.

I really do hope he filibusters for Mass Effect, with no one else agreeing with him but refusing to back down because it represents the series as a whole. Call it the "LOTR: Return of the King" Oscar effect.

I can't think of another game that he openly gushed over, or at least vividly talked about as much.

Openly antagonistic bombcast is the best bombcast.

X-com was great but it sure was buggy, at least on the PS3. Not sure why, either, seeing as it doesnt appear to be a taxing game from what I played. Well, except for how it taxes your soul for hours on end until Mexico backs out and you lose a heavy colonel because you didn't do that ammo conservation research and now the stupid chump is in the middle of a reload session and this muton just dumped all his plasma rounds into him and it just happens that you stupidly assigned the only medkit you had to the jerk so he can't revive himself and youve gotta rush to finish the fight in the next three round and your sniper somehow missed and blew the double tap that you had right then and there and fuck.

X-com, man, fucking x-com.

Dead.

Also I highly doubt anyone will be posturing for ME3 to get GOTY because they all acknowledge that having DLC be 'essential' or have it be so core to the story is fucked up enough that they will probably stand their ground.

Alex has hinted that he put a game that was not reviewed in his personal top 10 and that a review for that game will be going up soon. I think it's pretty clear that a bunch of four-stars will be on at least personal lists, wouldn't susprise me if Sleeping Dogs ended up really high on Vinny's. Jeff's Tumblr response to Alex wanting to put up another review made it sound like all the others' top 10 games have been reviewed by the site, though.

Depends on Jeff. Despite it being a flat hierarchy at GB, any game he really wants up there is going to be up there.

So depending on whether he throws himself Far Cry 3 or Xcom, one of these will be among the last choices for sure.

Bradley "Downloadable" Shoemaker is going to push for quite a few XBLA titles, I think.

I'm not sure how many of the others have played Spelunky, Trials, Mark of the Ninja and Dust. Fez is the one everyone seemed to get into intensely, if only for a short while.

Looking at Rapstah's list makes me think Dust: An Elysian Tail is the number 8 game. Chief furry editor Brad "Boss Doggie" Shoemaker will be fighting for it

Nah, I don't think Jeff played it or even found it objectionable. Asura's Wrath seems like the one to me.
Unless they were just joking
impossible

Oh yeah, and I'm calling it. Mark of the Ninja will be Brad's GOTY.

I didn't have that courtesy, so i asked him:

@enemykite I have 2 discount codes for the store. Is it possible to use both on the same item?

@Saften Unfortunately no. It's a limitation of Shpopify.

Will still be getting that hoodie though :P

Ugh, that's super frustrating, especially for a site that seems so user-friendly. Money's tight, man. :(

Well, if anyone is looking to purchase from the store and wants to help me out by buying a $15 off coupon code for $15 (maybe less since you're doing me a favor), PM me and let me know.

Edit: Willing to part with the coupon code for $10. PM if interested.

Oh man, that should be fun. I'm gonna need someone to let me know if there's any hint of VLR spoilers, though. I'm having to be cautious on patrick's twitter stuff lately because of that.

Gonna record a one-man 999 spoilercast for the world's end. If you have questions/comments, hit me here/Formspring. http://www.formspring.me/patrickklepek
AWESOME.

Shame he can't find someone else to join him. Gonna be WEIRD hearing someone describe the plot of that game by himself, especially since he's only midway through VLR.

I hope someone linked him to the Uchikoshi Q&A for the game.

Ryan was the person last year who didn't stand his ground. He is weak kneed and didn't back up Saints Row 3 becuase he's the chump.

Psyched for next week's GOTY stuff. I listened to the deliberations on a long drive last New Year's, and it made that drive go a lot faster. That final, overall GOTY deliberation podcast was a lot of fun listening to.

Is there anyway to see the guys' lists from last year in text form? I know there's the videos but I'm at work and curious about their lists

I feel like patting GAF on their back to getting at least one GB member to try out 999 and Virtue's Last Reward. Also, want to thank GB for my pickup of Azura's Wrath and Binary Domain.

I was listening to the last bit of the previous GOTY podcast again, and I really wish they had stuck with their choice for Vinny as the 2011 game of the year. Truly a more deserving choice than Skyrim or Saints Row.
