3DS Streetpass Experiences

hey so how do you beat these stupid green slimes in secret quest? they seem to dodge attacks & magic from nearly any level.
Don't use magic. Eventually a sword swipe will hit. It'll probably kill it in one go.

Hoping to get a few street passes from Wii U midnight launch tonight.

Niice. Just got a new Streetpass, in a Airport, in Nunavit, for a village of 1600 person and it was a girl.
Call me lucky or what. First one I got since I work here, because I work the night shift, where there is no passenger, but we have a late plane tonight.

So yeah, Critical 20 on this one.

yeah, i was so sure that last new one was gonna be paper mario NOPE

i kept an outside hope for Adventure Time but 3rd party stuff doesn't usually fly...well, here's to AC and FE later

I finally finished my first puzzle that contains pink pieces (Donkey Kong)! Feels good man. All thanks to a train journey up to London. I didn't even go into London, I changed at Clapham Junction. There are clearly alot more 3DSs around now.

Ok so since the 3ds has been out, from Japan (on my US 3DS) I have gotten all hats and puzzles (minus japan only ones).

Regions tagged:
-US: 12
-Canada: 1
-Australia (no map): 2
-Finland (no map, doesnt say regions)
-France: 1
-Italy: 1
-UAE (no map): 1
-Japan: 43
-Anguilla (lol) (no map): 1

Any word if they will add new maps? (Have they ever since the original release of maps?)

Soon I will be moving to Germany (Keiserslautern), I realize I won't get near the tags I get in Tokyo-to, but j/w how is the scene there nowadays? Will be shitty if they release another puzzle but I can't get anything for it.

yeah, ireland lacked a map too. sadness.

man zelda concert tonight was awesome, but just over 30 tags total, compared to like 130+ at orlando show...possibly because the harsh usher-lady kept scolding anyone with a 3DS open during the show. down to one puzzle (20 pieces left on kirby one, missing 1 pink though) and 1.5 plays through secret quest hopefully. goddamn i forgot how useless waves of lvl 1's are in there.

Just go to Köln during GamesCom, you can get hundreds a day there.

What part of Germany us Köln? Thanks for the tip.

Ya, pretty much 1 level 7 is far more useful than 7 level 1s in the quest. But fuck zombies. Also sucks when you have a full 10 lined up, finish off one dude, but get to a fire/ice/poison/dark room and you don't have the Miis for that in your lineup. Talk about a waste of Miis. Luckily we can hire what we need to take care of the problem so the next wave can use the room.

Nyc isnt a good place for streetpassing. You get streetpasses in japan every second but in nyc you have to go to nintendo world center. Anybody knows a better place?

i mean, at least ya'll can to go to nintendo world.

my city has 5.5 million people, and if i go downtown for an art venue, concert etc im lucky to get 2-3 tags.

When resetting my launch 3DS over and over in order to unlock the last puzzle I needed on my XL, I thought it would be worth noting, I didn't get a single pink piece delivered to me. I must have done it 15 times. Still, got that Pilotwings sucka eventually. Now if only I could get some streetpasses and fill in the (exclusively) absent pink pieces.

Seriously? Wow. This is the first week I've been at work and carrying a 3DS around since I got one and I'm getting 5 or 6 hits a day in Glasgow, thought big cities would be much higher than that.

I thought it was pretty cool at first but now I seem to be getting a hit every day at a time when I'm in the office from someone nearby - I have no idea who it is, could be another floor I suppose, and now I get the option of sending them a custom message and rating them and stuff which scares me a little. Nintendo have managed to engineer a whole new kind of awkward social situation.

NYC is fine. You'll only get a few a day from the day to day stuff, but it's significantly better than many other cities.

And yes, we have Nintendo World, and a bunch of Streetpass groups who are local.

I'm a new owner of a 3DS...can someone explain the concept of Streetpass? From what I understand, you pass by someone in your vicinity with a 3DS and it notifies you of it? And it lets you trade Mii items or something? I don't have anything, so does that pretty much make it pointless for me?

There are built in games, in the Streetpass Plaza, a jigsaw puzzle collection and a RPG lite, that you can exclusively play using streetpasses. 1 streetpass = 1 puzzle piece or 1 character to use in the RPG. This is more fun than it sounds.

Outside of the Plaza, individual games take advantage of streetpass using features such as ghost time trials in Mario Kart, or high scores in Coin Rush in NSMB2, or trading accessories in Nintendogs. It's a pretty awesome feature.

Thanks for explaining! I didn't realize there were built-in games. I like the idea of comparing high scores/times with others, too.

It certainly is more fun than it sounds, I audibly gasped when I unlocked a Kirby hat for my Mii the other day.

I am 32 years old.

Finally finished everything Mii Plaza has to offer today!!

All hats and puzzle pieces collected AND I reached the 3000 street-passes mark!

....so why do I still keep going back to the app to meet new people >_<

Got my first Street Pass since getting the system a couple of weeks ago. And she happened to be a Brony too.

Has anyone had any success with getting tagged from car rides?

Out of my 300, about 3 where while driving in the car. But considering I always take it with me in the car thats very rare I guess. And I am certain it happened while stuck in Chicago traffic.

Im loving streetpass. Its funny how i thought "i will never find anybody in my town with an powered 3ds walking down the street", but i found a few already!

Just one thing:

To activate the specific games streetpass stuff, do i need the game to be on the system?

Nope, you only need to activate streetpass functionality from within the game, after that you'll be able to streetpass even if you're playing something else. I think there's a maximum of 10 or 20 games that you can have active for streetpass though.

I finally got over 500 total streetpass hits a few days ago :) And I've been running into a lot of people who don't have any new puzzle pieces for me; problably quite a lot of new 3ds owners.

I just got an in-transit tag a couple nights ago, and this was traveling at full highway speed. I'd probably have more than a handful if I could take my 3DS with me to work.

I've been getting quite a bit of passes over the last few days. No new puzzles pieces though... granted I only have 95 left and most of them are Pink Pieces from newer puzzles.

Today I got someone from Anguilla. No map for that though.

I'm still bitter we never got a Paper Mario puzzle. Ugh.

Yep. I'm surprised about that. I still don't know what they were thinking with the puzzle about the one year old Wii Kirby game. I'm also surprised by the lack of Wii U related puzzles.

As for Find Mii / Streetpass Quest, I've reached the final boss again. I only have to go through this another 3 times, then I've unlocked every hat.

My poor 3DS. I dropped it on station platform stairs earlier this month, put a couple dents in it then.

Just now it slid out of my coat pocket and landed on the train platform, then fell off the platform next to the train tracks. In this process it flipped open somehow. I ran upstairs to get the attendant to claw it up for me. By the time i get back, the train that was there left, and when that happened, nudged my 3DS. Next train pulled up. Dude with the claw thingy was able to reach between the train and the platform and tried picking it up. It closed but fell back down. He was able to get it the 2nd time. A couple dents on the 3DS, mostly on the outside, and one at the home button (still usable) and somehow it started up Resident Evil Revelations. No noticable damage to the screen or workings of the system. Good old nintendonium i guess.

The stylus fell out during thus but bounced the other way to stay on the platform and my phone fell out but didn't bounce off the platform.

That is what I get for running to make a train that is a short 4 car one and was about to leave so i had to run along the side of the platform to get to it. Ironically, I obviously didn't get it as I now had to get an attendant to play fetch with the grabber thing.

Amazing it still works. Mine hasn't been subjected to anywhere near that level of trauma (never even dropped it), yet my R shoulder button is almost completely nonfunctional. Guess they're not all made equal.

I was in Las Vegas for New Years, I added around 40 people over the course of 3 days.

For a non-anime convention event that was quite a pleasant surprise :)

Anime Los Angeles is this weekend, I expect to get around 200+ streetpasses

I've already found more streetpassers than I was expecting in this small town, but I haven't met anyone the last 3 or 4 trips out. Feels bad.

Getting a lot of spotpasses at MAGfest in DC. Mostly states from the east coast butvthat is to be expected. Hoping I at least get one european hit. Should get over the 500 Mii mark soon!

Lemme know if you got mine (CA and Asin is the name).

Crazy thought, but would anyone want to ship their 3DS over to Japan in order to get a bunch of StreetPasses/Puzzle Pieces...?

How far would you go to complete everything?

I had a dream last night that there was a new SpotPass puzzle (New Super Mario Bros. U underground stage) and all of the pieces were pink.

I finally got a couple of passes today.

Any people in similarly low activity feel kinda creepy for attempting to work out where you keep running-into one or two 3DS users on a semi-regular basis?

America and Europe still need the Fire Emblem and Brain Age puzzles. Just send them already, as the games are confirmed for Western release!

So hilarious that we got a random Return to Dream Land puzzle. I'm sure Fire Emblem will be coming in a few weeks.

^just like i was so sure we were getting that Paper Mario one a while back

what a crazy and mean dream to have

So I live in downtown Sacramento, California and they were having an anime convention this weekend. So on my Friday, pre-party stroll I figured I'd go past the convention center while things were still going on and pick up some street passes from these nerds. I got one, I'm so disappointed in con-goers.

I have not had any streetpass experiences in quite a while. Airports are not the busy place they used to be. And most of my streetpasses don't even have Mii Plaza set up.

Well today I finally finishes all the NA puzzles, all 505 pieces.

Now waiting for the Fire Emblem puzzle!

It is a while yet but I imagine we'll be getting a Luigi's Mansion puzzle too?

I ended up getting a second 3DS over the weekend - a Japanese 3DS to spare due to the owner having bought himself an LL. I activated it Friday morning and began to try and manage Streetpass on both my 3DSes at once, with limited success. I managed to accumulate about 400 tags and 320 population in those two and a half days at MAGFest - enough to finish two loops of Find Mii 1 and complete most of the newer puzzles, and received four pink pieces from three puzzles that don't exist in NA yet.

The biggest problem with this is Japan Post's ban on shipping removable lithium-ion batteries via air. The 3DS I received actually has a third party battery in it (that seems to have significantly shorter capacity than the official one) because the person who helped him buy it flat-out refused to test Japan Post's rules on the matter and shipped it overseas without one.

Absolutely zero during the two months I've owned my 3DS, and I'm taking it out with me whenever I'm going to town. I don't even know how it feels like to StreetPass with someone ; _;

I've had my 3DS about a month. I live and work in Northern Virginia in the USA (about 30 minutes NW of Washington DC) which is very densely populated and I carry it with me in my work bag.

I've received 2 StreetPasses. Once on the road at highway speed. And once in a Target parking lot.
