I wonder if they dislike being pandered to by Uncle Dana. I know I would.

It was blatant pandering too. The cameras focused on groups of fans wearing flag colors and chanting their countries name to fit the narrative, but when they had to switch to a wider shot of the entire audience, you could tell that this enthusiasm was isolated to a few pockets of people.

I'll bite. wtf does "can" mean

A guy asks what a can is and you all post wonderfully obtuse replies.

What a great group of lads mma-gaf is.

it did make me laugh

Why does Cain have the Mexican flag behind him?

The same reason why an event in Macau was promoted as "UFC China", was headlined by American and Vietnamese fighters and had only 1 Chinese fighter taking part out of 18 total fighters. The reason being is "close enough."

"If you got a late start in MMA because you were doing a 5 year stint in the pen for meth trafficking...you might be a can."
"If you have your child's name tattooed on the inside of your bicep, and it's Morgan or Madison, you might be a can."
"If you have a dollar sign tattooed on your neck and you're broke, you might be a can"

He pretends not to be.

Just for attention. "BROWN PRIDE" rofl.

I had looked it up after I asked the question. Even with that said, I can understand how it is a marketing thing. It's just weird though.

I see a Brazilian flag behind Cigano. That's understandable, he was born in Brazil, lives in Brazil and speaks Brazilian Portuguese fluently.

Also, there's a Mexican flag behind Can Velasquez. Why's that?

Because his parents are from Mexico, and Mexico being a few miles away from where he was raised means people have a much greater sense of pride in their nationality than others might. Does it bother you when fighters like Arturo Gotti (with Italy) or any number of Irish boxers and mma fighters who were born in america trade on their ancestry?

I think the word can is a pretty shitty way to refer to a fighter.

Even if you dislike them/think they suck etc, the amount of work, blood, sweat and tears they put in, the strain on their bodies and the potential risk of injury they ALL put themselves through for your entertainment is worthy of some respect.

We use the term jokingly about 95% of the time here. And I myself, having either ordered or attended every UFC PPV since something like UFC 94 think I've supported the sport financially enough to do so.

Needs a gif of JDS doing his finger pointing routine.

MMAgaf likes their memes.

MMA Gaf is mostly ironically mocking the ridiculous MMA community at large (see: Sherdog forums) where a fighter is only ever as good as his last win / loss and other than the champ and a few contenders everyone else is just shit and wasting their precious card space.

There are top 5 fighters in their divisions who are considered "cans" just because some people don't like them for example, these people are dumb.

Yes. Also since anyone who loses sucks, all the so-called great fighters built their legacies on cans. When they finally lose they are exposed as the cans they always were.

Im going for Cain, because of all that tired catch as catch can talk. His countryman Marquez showing dat Mehicana heart will inspire him to win.

Brah you should have ended that post with this:

Fedor lost a couple of times, he's pretty much the biggest can in history now.

The can crusher got crushed himself.

Decides to take the easier fight in Werdum cause he is afraid of Alistair. Gets baited to the ground and submitted with ease all in a span of a few seconds like the can that he is.

Begs to get matched up with Big Foot instead of Alistair. Gets his wish. Only to get mauled and laughed at his shitty desperation kneebar/heel hook attempt in the 2nd by Big Foot.

Decides he doesn't want to join the UFC because he still wants his stadium in Russia and decides to fight a 185er instead (again). Gets KTFO in the process and career comes down in a beautiful spiraling crash.

He then runs away from the United States and decides to fight a 41 year old Monson, 4-1-1 Satoshi Ishii whose biggest win was over a handicap JLB, and 38 year old Rizzo who hasn't fought in 2 years.

His shitty career is long over now but it's always great to bring his name up cause you know everyone thinks he was actually a top tier fighter.

JDS is going to win. He's definitely the stronger fighter on his feet and he mixes his boxing well with his defensive wrestling so he's hard to take down. I don't think Cain can keep him on the ground and I don't think he has anything for Junior on the feet.

I love you, friend. Fedor exposed as the Russian Tank Abbott and his fans can't accept it.
