Giantbomb GOTY 2012 Thread: Videos, Top 10's, and podcasts lots and lots of podcasts.

Did Jeff ever say if he finished TWD? I know at one point he said that he'd played some. When they're talking about it in the Bombcast he seems pretty unclear on the details.

He's played one episode from what I assume :/

Maybe it just isnt his thing?

Last year he never played even uncharted 3 by the time of the GOTY stuff which was a pretty big game.

I guess that wasnt a big deal after the way uncharted 3 turned out but yeah, Its Jeff.. He plays what he plays and isnt the kind of guy that plays a bunch of games in a hurry for GOTY like patrick or brad. Ryan and him do the "if you didn't play it before this then its the games fault for not attracting you to play it enough" approach which is a ok way to go at things I guess even if its not exactly the best way to do things professionally

Has anyone compiled a list of what games there are spoilers for in this? Specifically avoiding Mass Effect 3 and Assassin's Creed 3 spoilers this year.

They spoil the hell out of Mass Effect 3 in the video. Just finish the damn games if you're worried about such things.

too late D:

Yeah, he said he wasn't finished during today's podcast, and they do all the awards at once and split it into a week's worth of podcasts, so he wasn't done when he entered GotY discussions.

I'm glad they did. I don't go back to games to play DLC, and I got to watch Leviathan!

Their GOTY podcasts are always spoiler heavy. They've explained this every year so far: You are a fly on the wall during their GOTY procedure, and they try not to hold back because the games MUST be discussed freely to justify why they should be awarded.

Their GOTYs are always spoiler heavy. These are, as they describe it, a look at their GOTY process. They need to discuss the games.

That's fine with everyone. However the videos and the top 10 lists are spoiler free, as is this thread.

I'm obviously not going to watch a video for it.. and I'm sorry that I didn't have enough time in the year to play every single game I want to. My mistake.

Sad Patrick didn't finish VLR, for me that wins best moment.

How fucking insane is Asura's Wraith anyways? Also how much bullshit dlc do i need to buy to get the real ending? ($ cost).

Portions of the scenes they talked about comprise the game's demo
and from what i played of that... its pretty fucking nuts.

Uh, it came out in March. Also, who cares? It's Mass Effect 3.

There's just one chapter pack to purchase for it. However, buying the game at $30 or less + DLC cost is fully justified in the price. If you haven't seen it, watch the QL, and, if you like what you see, I think you will really be pleased with taking the chance on it.

I was only sort of feeling what I saw, but I had a blast playing through it. It's not the absolute craziest animeish thing I've ever seen, but they fully commit to what they're doing, and it's pretty spectacular.

And I was playing other games during March. It's not like I will only play games in order of release. As you said, it's Mass Effect 3 so I put it on the back burner while I played games I cared more about. That doesn't mean I want to spoil the whole game for myself.

like how much is that 1 dlc?

This has been Giant Bomb's MO for the last 4 years. Always spoiler heavy discussion for GOTY, so why would the Giant Bomb GOTY thread be any different? You only have yourself to blame. Also Jeff hates people like you, he said so in the podcast.

This is not just a Bombcast GOTY thread, it encompasses discussion of all of their GOTY features. Even so, spoiler heavy discussion is fine in this thread and you just have to use the spoiler tags. Is that really hard?

Jesus christ, some people will just go out of their way as much as possible not to provide other people a courtesy.
Like dude its two tags, you're not even putting in effort or anything

Jeff blurs the distinction between people not wanting to hear discussion that covers spoilers and spoilers not being discussed period. If they prefaced entire episodes or segments with them saying they're going to spoil things, no one would give a shit. These aren't the same people that bitch when member x casually drops some off hand spoiler during a conversation.

There was that insane year when Brad was (a goddamn hero for) filibustering Silent Hill Shattered Memories, but didn't want to spoil the last five minutes which radically changes everything about the game.

And then after stopping the podcast to spoil Vinny and Ryan, they still didn't want to spoil it for listeners, which made the game and its merits hard to talk about.

And I never said I wanted it to be any different. I also never said a SINGLE WORD about anyone posting spoilers in this thread. All I did was ask about the presence of Mass Effect 3 and Assassin's Creed 3 spoilers in today's stuff. I haven't even been spoiled on anything so how do I 'have myself to blame'? Way to jump to conclusions though!

Spoiler people:

Do what I do. Install the Quick Post plugin for Chrome/Firefox/Opera for easy access to the spoiler tags and also install the Spoiler Remover to make all black bars disappear.

Of course, I wish that we just had free and open discussion all the time because speaking in vagaries about the plot is really frustrating to read/listen to, but I suppose I understand why some people dislike spoilers.

Yeah. I'm kinda bummed I never got to hear that discussion.

I completely forgot how fucking amazing Asura's Wrath was in terms of being a great-ass anime. It was a balls actual game though. (Apart from the QTEs, which I actually thought were probably the best game-part of the game)

Yeah, I was not a fan of the actual fighting stuff. I was usually just trying my best to get through it as quickly as possible to get to the next series of cutscenes/qtes.

It's weird, because I think Asura's Wrath would lose something by being non-interactive and lose something by being fully interactive. Maybe it would gain other things, but I liked the product it was.

That final DLC boss..if I were just watching that and not actively participating in it, it wouldn't have been as cool.

I wish the game would drop in price a little more. Hard to justify buying it at the current price. Maybe if I pretend in my head that its an anime boxset.

Then again, I think most anime boxsets are too expensive as well.
