What is Crush (Vita/PSP by Sega)?
It's on sale for $2.50 and I swear I've seen people talk it up in here...
Store has no screens, can't find gameplay on youtube. :\

All I did was search for "crush psp" on youtube and it came up with different videos of the game.

Here's the best one I could find, some of the others were blurry: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xw8s7YBNi80

I personally found it enjoyable and challenging, bought it a long time ago.

Dammmn Sony, now you're gettting really greedy.

Anybody wanna teach me how to open a japanese psn acct?

:lol

It's a shame Dokuro doesn't have a rewind function. Restarting after a screw-up on some of the longer puzzles is seriously annoying.

the OP really needs a list of helpful links... these questions get answered so frequently.

i don't know offhand since i don't have one, and the usual guys who would know arent around right now.... if you want you can go back in the page history when the soul sacrifice demo came out in japan, lots of people were asking then, so you can find out there 100%.

Wow, that was a great deal, can't believe I just impulse bought a second 32gb card. Now I can have one dedicated to the psp and ps1, and one for vita games. What a steal at that price, relative to normal prices at least.

I bought the 16gb card for $36. Good deal. I couldn't justify a 32gb card even at $60 although it was tempting. I had run out of room on my 16gb card and was using my old 4gb for extras *shudder* so it will be nice. Now if only Sony wasn't stupid and would allow an easy way to keep organization whilst switching cards.

I could get that 32gb for $60 but walmart had them for $81 and I have $50 worth of gift cards so I'm going to go that route whenever walmart.com comes back online.

I'll save my cash for PSN downloads. :P

And I went by Game Stop after work and picked up Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 used. I love it.

while the 16 for $36 was tempting, I couldn't resist getting double the room for 16.67% less money than getting two 16gb

Lots of people seem to be warming up to Vita on here after actually experiencing it. It's awesome to see.

the problems is many people/gaffers will still not give it a chance just because they read it sells like crap and the infamous " has no games" bullshit and will just ride that ship without actually trying to hold it and see if its games good or bad.

I wonder if NisA is going to bring over totori and meruru plus next year... I've been staring at my ps3 copy of meruru but I wouldn't mind one bit paying to play that on the vita instead.

The problem was that for a long time, that characterization was true.

Vita had a good launch, but an absolutely brutal summer. Fall picked it back up, but that terrible lull after Gravity Rush and MGS:HD did Vita's public perception no favors.

Japan currently seems to be going through what we did :-{

True, which is a shame. I feel like we have a lot of great games, but there are too many lull periods over in Japan where there's no releases. Around the holidays, that's disastrous.

hopefully march is able to bring the vita to life in japan and once it starts selling it will get more support and thus less lulls

This is completely normal for a system in its first year though.

yup.

well the next three months in the west are like a wasteland too..I hope we can survive it.

Soul Sacrifice.

Such a damn shame the west will have a wait to get our hands on it. :(

NGS2+ is February, isn't it?
EDF is coming.
I'm sure there's more.

*cough*3DS*cough*

PS3 at least survived based on the scraps it got from 360, but there were literally months where not a single piece of Vita software was released, ports or otherwise.

Imagine what the retailers were thinking. Devastating.

Sony should've spread that February launch like peanut butter. Their own output was just too much, since Uncharted naturally overshadowed everything else.

It's slightly better. At least with PS+ we have something to get excited about now, even if it's for old games. Before it was just uhhhh

A quick check on Wikipedia says there has been at least a single release every month since launch. Saying that there were 'months' without release is categorically untrue.

I dunno about wikipedia but I felt it during summer...mostly psn titles if I remember...we were waiting for mid-october for like 2 months iirc. Not that that is unreasonable for a first year.

I meant retail releases - otherwise, the slow trickle of PS1 and Playstation Mobile shovelware would count.

July was a desert, and 29 days in May might as well have not existed.

To be sure, some of those releases are pretty bad. It probably felt that way.

How much does it cost for localization? I've been looking at japans releases in the past few months and I'm interested in lord of apocalypse, ys celceta, tales of innocence r, legend of heroes, meruru plus. Basically all those jrpgs, especially tales, love that series.

it will vary depending on what needs to be done/ what you do.... There aren't many actual known numbers for the cost, but you have to figure at the very least you are looking at fees to release on the vita, plus fees for the games, plus paying people to translate it, which even for a cheap translation digital only release is most likely well north of 100k meaning that usually a game will need to move at least 5k units to even have a tiny shot of breaking even.

for a game like tales of innocence only namco will bring it over they won't let anyone else touch it, and last i checked they will pay to fully dub it and will take that into account when deciding to do a project, which means a game like tales of innocence will likely never release in english as it just wouldn't project to make them any money.

Ys has a good shot at coming over as does the legend of heroes games and meruru though.

Goddamn it. I wish I would have gotten my card now and not a few weeks ago. I can't justify a 32 card on top of my 16 at this point.

Thats a lot cheaper than I would figure. I just hope they put some up on PSN, I doubt there is as much of a risk there since they don't have pay the costs of printing the game which I imagine is pretty high. I'm hoping we see some niche games make it through.

With the relative lack of western games I'm probably gonna be trying a bunch of the little jrpgs and other quirky games that make it over on Vita (I've picked up Persona which I never would do on ps3). I never really try them on consoles or PC but the vita is an awesome platform for them. I'm in love with handheld gaming since its nice to play a game before going to bed and I don't have a TV anywhere near mine.

I was saying that as an absolute min. We are talking a game that has barely anything to translate, and in general is cheap.

I know anime doesn't equal video games but one of the only listings of actual licensing costs came out when ADV was going under and they had to reveal during court stuff what they paid. that list can be found here as you can see a lot of them are really expensive just for the rights to release them, that doesn't even factor in the cost to produce the anime dvds or dub it.

Even a digital only release still takes quite a bit of time and money to get done... especially lengthy RPGs that need a lot of translation. Depending on the quality you are looking for translators can easily get paid $50-$100 per hour and require 1000 plus hours to translate a 50 hour RPG. meaning you can easily be looking at 100k just for the translation alone. Keep in mind that using the japanese voices isn't free, you have to license those separate from the game most of the time.

I don't know the exact amount it would cost now and days to bring a game like Atelier Meruru over. Obviously it costs nisA less than 500k or so (quick estimate on how much they would take in selling 20k copies... not sure if meruru sold much better than that) otherwise they wouldn't keep being on board for sequels, but they could be making a mere 100k per release. they are a smaller company so everything doesn't need to be big profits.

But yeah, someone who is better informed about this whole situation might know a better estimated cost. All I can do is guess based off stuff I have read.

i really don't think anyone has "forgotten" the 3DS' first year. least of all the early adopters like myself.

So where are all the 3DS haters and nay-sayers? I remember my own take on the subject, but I don't recall weekly "3DS is doomed, oh lord, Nintendo is finished" threads or anything...
maybe I wasn't paying attention...

Maybe I should have used the words "willing to overlook" with regard to the 3DS' first year.
