During the last section, Ryan uttered the sentence, "No one(1) is going to disagree(2) that it's not(3) without(4) it's problems."

The vaunted quadruple-negative.

So watching the 4th Day Recap TWD part, is it just me or is there a lot of annoying overlapping of different people talking with Ryan's voice the loudest and everyone else's kind of soft but still can be heard in the background? For a moment I thought I had accidentally opened multiple tabs/windows of the video but nope.
I noticed it too. Very distracting.

I think Spec Ops should had been in the top 3 stories over Dust.

I'm kinda furious Spec Ops has been over looked so far (not listened to the podcasts though incase Brad is about to correct me). It's the only game this year, besides TWD, where I've found myself thinking about it even when I've not been playing the game.

Good man Tricky. #1 would've been different if you had more time.
Every time you say things like this is makes me feel really guilty about not owning VLR. : (

Why does Patrick get hate for liking Journey, especially considering it was also on everyone else's (except Jeff's) top ten.
Because he described it using words like "transcendental."
...wait.

Liking the variety of things making it in the lists this year. I said it before, but I'll say it again- really feel like this year has much more diversity than last year. Hopefully gets some people to try out some more of these things, like the Asura's Wrath stuff recently in here.
edit: Also, using the clip from ZombiU when he placed the mine on the floor in the QL at the end of that pick was great.

Cop show was by far the best.

Brad with the Beard, Davisowski, Drunk Drew, Sleazy Italian Vinny and Hardcore Dave. Unparalleled.

And god Patrick....Journey, Journey, Journey... /hipster bs. Journey got him to play games with dirtbags? Nice assumption. Deciding on the quality and standing of people through their names on PSN. I worry more about people who use their real names as their online nickname!

/moan over:)
Bullshit. I 100% agree with Patrick. If you pick a name like xXxthug420xXx you're either a 12-year old, a fucking douchebag or you're the ironic hipster yourself. Neither someone I want anything to do with in my free time playing games.

If they didn't want to be judged as dirtbags/assholes/children, maybe they should've chosen better fucking names.

Is there a story behind Ryan skipping Alex Navarro during the 2nd part of the video?
Everyone loves to troll Alex. :p

At least its an even number. There are languages and dialects that can flip the switch an uneven number of times. A triple negation remains a negation in those cases, it's just a very emphatic one.

Judging people by their name is a childish, douchebag thing to do.

God damnit, the daily recap videos just keep on getting more awesome, although I don't see how they can top the fake hoarders reality show.

Didn't Ryan talk pretty positively about AC3 around the time he reviewed it? They are destroying that game in the goty podcast. Even he barely has anything good to say about it.
Jeff had the same problem I had with Spec Ops. Wish you could have chosen not to do it.

I wonder how many people figured it out before pulling the trigger. I realized it right after I did it, which is probably the perfect way for it to happen. I have no idea how I would feel about that game if that part didn't work.

Someone who picks a name like NiggaHatah420 is surely somebody you'd usually choose to play with.

I thought exactly the same at the end. The type of names I saw are usually the people who ruin my games on CoD etc with mic spam and the like.

It's literally impossible for them to ruin your game of journey considering there is no way to grief and nothing to do but move forward. The only praise the game gets from me here is limiting you so much that you will generally play along.

And yes, echoing some of the above with judging based off a name is incredibly childish. Sure, many people pick very stupid things to represent themselves with online. xXxWombInvaderxXx with a 420 clan tag just may not take videogames that seriously, it doesn't mean he's a shitty person or beneath you.

Yeah, it just took a lot of air out of the narrative for me.

Which part of Spec Ops are we talking about? I haven't listened to the podcast yet.
Jeff has made it very clear in the past that he wishes the
white phosphorous scene in Spec Ops was a choice. He wanted the game to allow you to have the option to jump down and fight the Army entrenchment with small arms fire instead of the WP mortar
.

I see. I don't know.
It's pretty much the tipping point that pushes the game where they wanted to go. I don't think it's a game that wants to give you a morally good out. I think storywise, I would have appreciated a bit more subtly, though. They ram their point so far down your throat by the end, it looses a bit of its punch. Ok ok, I get it, I'm a miserable piece of shit. I did like the change in the tone of the voice acting. Definitely worthy of the final Northie.

They should have let you engage and get so pinned down that you felt like you had no other choice.

Jeff actually addressed this point directly with the lead writer of the game on a GameSpot spoilercast of the game back in July.

He said that at one point they did have the option to repel down to the fight the soldiers head on, but it had to be removed due to technical limitations.

Ah, I see.
Not hard to believe beings on the PC version if you are far away from soldiers and trying to snipe, their models are very low res. Like Ps1 low res.

The technical limitations were mostly about the fact that it would split the game in two very different ways which means that most of the rest of the game would have to be donne twice (double the production time/cost and double the space on the disk).
