Giantbomb GOTY 2012 Thread: Videos, Top 10's, and podcasts lots and lots of podcasts.

Not much love for Dust so far, huh? Guess I'll play MotN first.

There's quite a lot of loving Dust for the best story, Brad arguing the case for its heavy themes handled in a great way with that aesthetic that could've gone wrong. And also doing the amnesia trope well.

I'm really enjoying the number 1 choice. Shame Dishonored never got its due - but oh well, Patrick seems to be the only one there who likes that style of game.

And #7-#10 on the overall list are pretty hilarious. They're all games that just one of the guys got obsessed with.

jesus, Vinny's top ten doesn't come out until 3pm. i'm curious what else he listed besides Sleepy Pups.

oh snap, video showcase points out the other ones. i was wrong, dayam

Vinny playing sleeping dogs is literally what got me to play the game, so I'm real happy to get another half hour of it.

That's why the individual top tens are more interesting. The mix of compromises and deals that go into the overall list because they haven't all played the games, make it kind of meaningless.

ME3 was a better game than AC3 overall so AC3 was the right decision. And AC3 was so much more broken than ME3.

You made me think I should just wait for the next ME game to come out with all DLC before I get it. Unless reviews are super stellar.

Btw, gonna quit the AC series now?

Nah, I actually started Brotherhood a few days ago, though hearing how bad the whole thing goes definitely deflated my enthusiasm for finishing the series a bit.

Well, Brotherhood could be called the last great AC game, definitely still worth the time. It's a lot of fun and has the best expanded systems, before they became overdone and janky.

You'll still enjoy the gameplay in the Ezio's games at least. It's really fun and addictive. And of course the world is still fun to explore. Brohood has some really nice atmosphere.

I can't believe they were even having the same conversation about Binary Domain and Spec Ops: The Line when it comes to story.

I'm going to have to play Binary Domain...

Man looking at the list it makes it real obvious Jeff has a strong influence on the final 10, I mean syndicate no.7...Really?! Only Jeff loved that game, the other's kinda appreciated it. Lol at it beaing sleeping dogs, mass effect 3 and zombi u. I hope Brad does some minerva's den style arguing again, it's what makes the goty podcast what it is, looking at the length i doubt it though.

What a bummer of a way to end Vinny's mission in the Sleeping Dogs part.
At least the outro was fantastic.

I love that Dave Lang starts his ME3 pick with "Mixed pride and shame," haha

edit:

Not to mention Asura's Wrath or FTL not even placing.

Syndicate is really damn good. The only bad parts are the boss fights and the story, and there isn't much of either. Nice that it gets its proppers somewhere.

Yeah holy shit I forgot about those two. 3 of the 4 really enjoyed asura's wrath and it didn't even chart, while syndicate did... No ftl makes zero sense too.

I appreciate it's strengths but as whole it isn't a strong enough contender for goty, it has some great co op but I don't see that being enough for it to hold it's own against no 8, 9 or 10.

I'm sure the argument Jeff made against asura's wrath was that you can enjoy it just as much just watching it on youtube, also the ending being dlc would have been a major hit so it's somewhat understandable that it was left off.
EDIT: Real happy with the top two, just as expected.

I kind of really want to play Asura's Wrath now, too.

Maybe I'll just watch a YouTube play of that one.
If you like what you see pretty early on, stop and buy it. If it doesn't interest you, I wouldn't blame you for not buying it.

I wasn't too sure I'd like it, but I was glad I took the chance on it. Had a great time with it, but I wouldn't spend too much on it.

Play the demo. On PSN and Live. If that doesn't excite you then feel free to watch it. But the QTES are well done. Feel like a badass.
