Giantbomb GOTY 2012 Thread: Videos, Top 10's, and podcasts lots and lots of podcasts.

Play the demo. On PSN and Live. If that doesn't excite you then feel free to watch it. But the QTES are well done. Feel like a badass.

I got Asura's wrath through gamefly and fell asleep trying to watch the intro cutscene in space twice.

That said I understand how some could be into that stuff.

Fair enough, they liked the storytelling more of Spec Ops than the story, but I loved the characters too like the Radioman, the squad dysfunction with well-developed characters, and the plot direction into a figurative and visual hell.

I still don't get the choice not being in the
white phosphorus moment
ruined it for Jeff. That's where the game makes its point that there's no choice in any of this and it doesn't matter in the end. This is not a choose-your-adventure, this is Captain Walker's journey to become a broken man and the lack of choice enforces the theme of psychosis and PTSD. Plus, the developers already mentioned the technical limitations to diverge that moment in the same spoilercast that he was present in.

Oh well, maybe it just resonated with me more than their "that was a nice try, Spec Ops" sentiment.

The Workspace & Collectshun are my faves but they all had their moments. I don't know what they could do to top themselves next year.

I'd say enjoy Brotherhood as much as you can, because it all goes downhill after that.

And here I am, thinking AC:B was mechanically sound but already wearing out its welcome.

It added two fantastic things to the franchise: calling in assassins to help, and kickass multiplayer. Don't know how the multiplayer stuff has carried through to other games, but it was real good.

Unfortunately, by the time I played Brotherhood, it was HELL finding a multiplayer game on PC.

Is my first impression of Binary Domain as "Shitty Vanquish" misguided?

I'm not even sure I want to continue playing this game, what's there to like about it? This Dan guy is making even Sam Gideon look like a well-fleshed out, interesting character.

Jeff - His method acting was award worthy. Really loved Rapman, but Jeff leaning into his collection habit for humor was great.
Ryan - gave him a tie because of the same reason- "I just don't want Jeff to get what he wants."
Brad - How can you not love that stache and suit? Ending frame sells it.
Patrick - "Anyone." (honorable mentions for "They told me I could be the alien" and Nights)
Vinny - The name is mistah vinny.

I only just finished Sequence 2, but it's kind of boring me so far too. :\

If the entire game is just climbing viewpoints, burning down Borgia towers, and other repetitive tasks I won't be too eager to move on to Rev and 3 after this. Maybe once the stuff with building up the assassins' guild kicks in it'll be more interesting.

Yea, you don't even have your posse yet. Keep going.

So I actually tried to get into the Assassin's Creed franchise for the first time by downloading the one hour trial via Playstation Plus of Brotherhood.

I'm not saying they should cater to newbies with every game, but holy crap there's zero points of entry for someone who's just starting the game. I had no idea what the heck was going on.

Guess I, uh, should have played the first one several years ago. :p

Second one. You start that game with bare fists.

You should have learned by now that Assassin's Creed games take several hours to actually get started. :p

Lately I can't watch anything on giant bomb. The videos don't load at all and I've tried every browser you can name. I click the video and nothing. Anyone with a solution out there?

For me, I think Resi 6 should have won the worst game of the year. Just because it's more functional than some shitty Kinect games etc doesn't mean it's not worse. I think a huge studio like Capcom, working on a huge franchise like Resident Evil, and messing it up SO badly is worse than some smaller devs just making a wonky Kinect game or shitty movie tie-in.

CoD Vita nearly won because it did SUCH a bad job with such a huge IP, and I think that's the reason Resi 6 should have won. CoD Vita was, let's be honest, always going to be shit. Resi 6 should have been awesome. To mess up that game is much more embarrassing and noteworthy that Steel Battalion being a mess.

I know lots of people don't think like that because I've been in arguments here on GAF before when I said MGS4 is the worst game of all-time, but listening to this now just really hammered home how I would have liked Resi 6 to win that award.

I've not read any of the last few pages btw, now onwards to the GOTY debate...

I certainly don't see anyone's AC momentum heading in an upward direction going into Revelations. It's the definition of "rehash". By all means, Youtube the cutscenes and skip it - you'll never want to play 3.

EDIT: Shit! Meant Revelations, not Brotherhood
