Worst.Idea.Ever.
Spielberg is old. Dude needs to stop making films. Cameron is rich, dude needs to stop making films. Nolan needs to stop making films, period.
Agree completely.
I miss the days of silent black and white film.

Brain Dead is better than the entirety of Nolan's filmography...
I'll rewatch because I trust you. I think my dad might have them on dvd.
Is it odd that I always thought Superman was lame when I was younger, and only in the last decade or so have I started to warm up to the character? Anyone else feel this way?
Agree completely.

This is good shit.
Best way to do Superman on the big screen is to make him human.
The godlike shit is rather boring, and uninteresting.
Little sprinkles of it are nice, like him being on fire and not giving 9 fucks, badass lol.
I wish we were getting Birthright but I'm pretty sure Goyer based his script on Geoff Johns' Secret Origin.
Yeah, there's only so much mileage you can get out of that... and Donner's relationship between Jor El and Clark pretty much did everything worth seeing on film in that space. All Star Superman did it well, too... but I don't know if that'd work as a 2 1/2 hour live-action movie. Give me Action Comics. Give me Birthright. Give me Superman For All Seasons. Give me Tim Daly.
Let's see the other Superman I've come to know.
If Clark's relationship with Pa is as good in this movie as it is in these two, I am going to love this film.
Speaking of the funny books, comixology's Superman 101 sale ends tonight. All the Superman you could want at $.99 a pop.

Picked up Secret Origin, Superman and the Legion, and Kingdom Come myself, though I've read All Star, Red Son, Seasons, and Brightright and would gladly recommend them.
What the hell is he holding in that last pic? Some sort of deformed baby?
If Kurt Busiek's "Secret Identity" is part of that Comixology sale - GET THAT.
Why do I always see people saying they're sick of seeing Superman's god complex told on screen?
I don't recall ever seeing it on screen outside of Brando's few words of wisdom in Donner's first film.
What the fuck are you people talking about?
If anything, that is exactly what I've wanted to see. A Dr. Manhattan story for Superman.
He better get changed in a phonebox in this. Thats all i'm saying, thats all i'm fucking saying.
Failing thay i'd accept a revolving door.

I really wish, at some point, it would be adapted to film. It could easily happen, and it would be fucking brilliant to behold if it was done right.

There's actually a track on the Returns score called "You're Not One of Them." It plays when Superman realizes that Lois and him frankly can't work, and we then watch him fly above earth and watch us from space. If that's not a god complex I don't know what is. You can watch it right here, actually- it's on YouTube.
Both deserve another viewing. Both are excellent.
Seems like I should watch this Superman Returns movie.
alienation and god complex are not the same thing
All good books. That Gary Frank/Johns Legion story is pretty much the only Legion story I care for... aside from maaaybe some bits from the Smallville episode. Otherwise I sort of hate the concept of the Legion. That comic was a great metaphor for historic revisionism, though.
The kid looks like she's tucked around Superman. You're just jealous because you know someone who'd have been an amazing Superman.

Hamm would be a stellar older Supes. Kingdom Come all the fucking way!
An All-Star Superman adaptation to end the series could be amazing... but it has to be deserved. It really is the perfect ending to Superman.
And I feel like the movie is more Birthright than Secret Origins. You see Clark exploring the world beyond the farm and metropolis and Pa's attitude towards Clark as Superman is closer to that in Birthright.
Secret Identity was fun but I see it more as a one and done thing. I loved it, but I'm not sure if I want a live action film. Maybe a DCAU adaptation?
I definitely feel a lot of Birthright/Smallville Jonathan Kent in what we're seeing (which is a very, very goof thing).

Of all the typos I could have made...
How fucking good would this have been. I mean seriously.
IDK there is that whole not being good at acting and making stupid faces when he gets serious thing that Hamm has going on.
You just wanted to stand out, above the crowd

Hamm is way too... suave to play Superman. Also he's tall but also scrawny as fuck, he would have to train for 6 years to get buffed.

Omg he is doing the stupid face in that GIF. It's like he is trying to keep a fart in while not trying to ruin the scene.

Nah unlike most of you guys I have good taste and am willing to call a spade a spade. If Hamm was good he would be on the big screen as a leading man. Instead he is stuck to supporting roles in Michael Mann rip-offs, video game wish fulfilments, and horrible chick flicks.
One of them is too old for lead the other is too fat. Also, after seeing Gandolfini in killing them softly I am inclined to believe he isn't all that great.
