Did anyone clap on your plane when it landed? I always feel like telling everyone on the plane that does that that they're complete idiots. Same goes for people who clap in a movie theater.

The only time people clapped when I was on a plane was when the pilot made the most AMAZINGLY perfect landing. It was deserved.

lol. When I've gone to Montenegro there would be 2 flights. One to Germany or Austria and then one from there to Podgorica in Montenegro. So the 2nd flight is obviously filled with Albanians and Serbians. The pilot would always get a fucking standing ovation when we landed hahahaha so funny

I'm a network administrator. I'm going to start asking for applause when I do my job.

Email's flowing? Guess who's getting a standing O? This guy!

I clapped on a plane one time ironically because it was a fucking awful flight. It was one of those condescending slow claps.

I bet the pilot cried himself to sleep that night.

Dave is anti-clapping? I didn't know :(

I like it when people applaud in a movie theater, it's an attempt to show appreciation as a community!

DAMN YOU 22F!!

In retrospect, I should have given a fake thumbs up with a 'Real good job there chief' as well, but you live and learn.

But then, I have major control issues, so I think any plane I'm riding in is being flow horribly and that if they'd just let me fly the damn thing everything would be alright.

And no, before you ask, I can't fly planes.

When I went to the midnight showing of Watchmen I expected there to be a bunch of clapping at the end but the entire theater was silent. There were a bunch of people in costume and stuff too, you could feel the disappointment dripping from the ceiling. Maybe that was something else though...

My favorite experience at a theater was in a tiny little redneck town, and the one theater had two screens. I went to see Serenity opening night. I was all kinds of excited, but figured it would be basically me and some friends, since ya know, redneck town, not a lot of nerds...

The show was sold out. People were singing the "Ballad of Jayne" in line. People dressed up. It was amazing, I thought that only happened in actual cities. The whole theater burst into the Firefly theme before the movie started. It was awesome.

I will tolerate it when it's a fandom sort of movie, like Marvel/DC or some big scifi franchise. When people clap after something like Django I don't like it.

But the community is applauding to no one but themselves. It only has substance when the accolades are received by the person or persons deserving of them.

I don't like you.

I'm so jealous of you.

You are misinterpreting the objective. No one expects the appreciation to reach those it is directed toward; the idea is to share it! It's fun! :D

I concede that it is absolutely not appropriate for all films.

Oh! Getting the puppy tonight more than likely (I doubt the fiancee will be able to let him go) and working on the weekend was pushed back until next. Time to have some awesome fun with the new little dude!

I agree with Hawkian. Clapping at a movie theater is not much different from cheering/yelling at a sports game on TV. It can be pretty damn fun if people cut loose and just go with making constant ridiculous commentary (like at screenings for terrible movies).

Considering how long you sit in a theater with strangers, having a shared experience of some kind, it seems weirder to not ever interact with your fellow humans.

You clap after a movie because you enjoy it, I can't possibly see why there would be any vitriol toward that :|

Nobody ever cheers or claps at a movie where I live, and it usually feels like a funeral march on the way out. I'd like to be in a lively crowd for once.

Clapping is done for the benefit of the artist or performer, whom are not present at a typical movie screening. Unless you're clapping for the projectionist, I don't understand why you would do it. It's obviously a cultural difference.

Welp I catching up with this thread and about to post this. I have never witnessed anybody clapping at the movies. Do you guys clap at home after watching a tv movie? After the 8 o'clock news perhaps?
