Sanford and others said that UMvC3 is scrubby, stupid, etc...... but the important thing is that people had tons of fun playing that game and it's able to maintain their interest for a long time. For that reason alone it's pretty clear that UMvC3 is a great game, despite what some say. SFxT wasn't able to do that, people get bored playing and watching it, it's a bad game and that's why the scene doesn't support it.

That's what that is going to happen for the next Smash game, the people in the Smash community aren't idiots and they preferred Melee to Brawl for the simple reason that Melee was able to maintain their interest longer than Brawl did. If Nintendo/Namco isn't able to make a SSB game that has depth then people aren't going to be playing it for a long time either.
 
Unfortunately I can't make it out to Apex this year. Last year was a blast.

If there's any Smash tournament to stream monster for the entire year, it's Apex. The best of the best from around the world will be there, and the winner is basically deemed champ for the rest of the year. It really is the Evo of Smash.

It was mostly just part 2 of his rant about how east coast is ass for losing to ChrisG every week. This time though, ChrisG was in the stream chat so there was some back and forth conversation. Bum also spent a while trying to convince ChrisG to go back to maining his Ryu team to prove he's not only winning because of Morridoom.

Then Sanford started feeling himself and said that since no one else is stepping up, he's going to get good at marvel and body ChrisG himself.

"He only wins because he uses Morridoom" is moronic. It makes as much sense as saying anyone wins because of the team he/she uses. It would be like saying "If you took away all the characters he has mastered, this guy isn't that great!" Yeah, no shit. If it's really about how cheap the team is, then pick it up and beat him with it. If you can't do that, then stop complaining about the team, because clearly the problem is you.
 
ChrisG put a lot of work into his Morrigan team, both in setups and combos. What else does he have to prove?

Asking him to pick weaker characters to make a point is laughable. All he has to do is keep winning
and create a better Phoenix Wright team
.
 
I think we will only see 4 Evo games this year. They will not have enough time for a fifth if the event keeps getting bigger and bigger.

I think last years APEX was the tournament that solidified my decision to never look at the stream chat for a tournament again. I have no regrets.

That's how I see it: In 2011, Viscant discovered that Wesker/Haggar was broken, then picked a character that was broken and he was the best. Now, Chris G discovered MorriDoom, then picked Vergil, and he's the best by far. And there's nothing wrong with it. It's their merit to research the game and find broken stuff.

I doubt the number of games will be changed much from 2012. It certainly won't increase; last year had a packed schedule and there was much resistance against adding a Day 4. Don't think it'll decrease due to increased attendance.

Probably make the most sense to look at what from 2012 will get replaced.
SCV <> TTT2 for sure
SFxT <> PSASBR possible
KOF <> P4A or DOA possible. KOF is gone for sure though
Did they announce US release dates for Injustice and BBCP yet? That'd be the most important determining factor for if those games get main stage at EVO. If SF2 Tournament of Legends was a Day 3 event that's another slot freed up too.
 
Could (or did) the latest Mortal Kombat (9?) ever make it? I'm playing it on Vita and am really surprised at how good it is. I can't remember I've ever played anything this fast and responsive on anything before, though I don't know if the console versions were as good ...

Yeah, MK9 was at Evo the last 2 years (PS3 version). Attendance was lower the second year so it might not be back this time. We'll find out tomorrow.

I love how these guys are getting at Chris G when Flux is sitting right there. Make Flux not pick Zero and you'd never hear about this guy. At least Chris G can make a top 3 with a different team. As long as the money rolls in I wouldn't care about being good. I'd gladly be the shittiest player if I won all the time.

Chris G is not the best by far, his match against Yipes at NEC wasn't a clear win by Chris G. Things could have been different had Yipes not choked in the crucial third match after the bracket reset. Then with both PR Rog and F Champ having leveled up massively since Season's Beatings it's not going to be easy for him to beat them.

Honestly I'm not sure how hype this will be after seeing Bum play against Chris. His team has a damn hard time against proper zoning. Of course, it could have just been jitters after not playing in a tournament setting for so long and consequently not being able to properly do whatever it is he would like to do against those long range teams.
