Yeah this is a serious concern, especially after D/P was so absolutely terrible about this, and it still used sprites in battle.

Grass is always best starter type.

I chose Snivy, and regretted it for most of the game. He was just useless most of the time, my nonstarter Pokemon were much better. Chespin's design is clearly the best though.

Yeah...Only thing I can say is that I only played (and finished) Blue then that was straight to Diamond and well...
They're not even close to being the same game.
Like at all.
If you didn't play them since Blue you're going to be overwhelmed by all the new shit they throw at you.

Same. My Snivy just couldn't meet my expectations. I started off playing Red back in the day with my trusty Bulbasaur. Nothing has come close as a grass starter. Think this might be the change needed. I chose the grass starter in Black and paid for it dearly in the beginning, good god.

I'm actually hoping all three do pretty well at start. Starters seem hit and miss to me. I never restart a game if I find starter I have isn't all that great, but hell, I can't wait to get far enough in to trade for the other starters.
