Always ended the relationships when they became long distance with no time-frame of it ending. Physical proximity is a big part of a relationship for me.

I'm 20 still in college in a middle class family my transportation only eats 40% of the house income needed to substain the lives of my family of 5, and my vacations are a relief for my parent's budget so I don't feel like burning them when I don't need to by making that trip. It doesn't sound that stupid now does it?
I know about long dstances in big cities yeah and I'll get accustomed to it at the right time, right now is more a monetary concern, really.

Yup. My boyfriend lives 27 km from my house and we are in the same city lol.
Some people on Gayromeo... They are clearly interested (left me a footprint), they reply to my first message, read the second then go offline. The next day they do reply but still I'd like to know what goes on in these people's minds when they do that.
Same thing with some people I've arranged a date with. They are often the ones asking to have a drink, but the day before the date they cancel with an insensitive or bizarre excuse. I do my best to believe them and give an understanding reply, but as they're obviously lying I expect not to hear from them again. A week later they suddenly send me a message saying they still want to see me.
At first I thought this was a one-time thing but it has happened several times already. Is this some sort of pick-up artist strategy to make me more attracted to them? I'm seriously clueless here and I wish to understand what this is all about so I can deal with a situation like this next time.

Well I guess it's because most people there are taken for granted? The thing is, you are just an option for them. It's hard to find sincere people there. They may be sincere with you alone but when it comes to relationship stuff and if it involves you being legit, things falls apart..
I kind of figured something like that, that they're chatting with other people they're more interested in and I'm just there in case it doesn't work out with them. So there's a good chance they cancelled because they arranged a date with someone else?

I agree. They're really bizarre now and really hard to remember.
I'm not a fan of the newer Pokemon games, but Pokemon names have been weird for a while now; the older names are just more familiar and cemented in your memory. Fennekin sounds a lot better than Chikorita or Torchic ever did.
