Well now it can have haste!

Translation: Creatures you control have haste and attack each combat phase, if able.

Probably not that relevant since the current bigger red dudes you want to use (Hellrider, Aristocrat, Thundermaw) already have haste, but hey.

Basically Fervor on a creature. Interesting. I wonder why they printed that with Fervor already in standard.

To be fair, I like this better than Fervor.

Hey guys is this the thread for the online ipad version? Because 1) it's pretty good and 2) i'm pretty bad. No premium purchases or anything. But I'd love to play with you guys if you want a chance at some free wins. I never quit before the game is over (unlike a lot of dudes that skip out on a beatdown I've noticed) unless my wife and/or baby are screaming at me.

Add me: PantherLotus

Pick the Krenko goblin red deck and you can't lose!

Quitting before you are actual dead isn't rude or whatever, if you are dead on board or know you have no outs it saves time to concede.

There's a community thread gaming-side for it.

I still play it pretty regularly. Though only really at night.

ultron87 on there if you want to add me.

Most people quit before the game is over because conceding when you have no outs is a pretty common thing in the way people play Magic. One of the big downsides with Duels of the Planeswalkers is that it treats conceding as the same as disconnecting (even though the button actually says "Concede"). So if you concede early you can't play that person again and they have an AI automatically take over. It'd be much better if it just took both players back to the lobby and let you start a new game.

In a world where Hellrider and Falkenrath Aristocrat are cards, this will never see play.

Yes, I know I'm comparing a rare to mythics, but when we talk about constructed playability, rarity has nothing to do with it.

Neve said it would see play. I don't think it will.
What I meant was that its fine where it is at 4. At 3cmc it probably would have been too much.

Yeah, he's the haste fuel that Krenko needs. Krenko will be fine since you'll be tapping him for goblin tokens each turn so he'll avoid the "must attack" clause on Kool-Aid. Ran a mono-red Krenko deck when M12 was standard legal, complete with Burn at the Stake, and it was a bunch of fun. Perhaps I'll pull it out and make some edits.

Okay, lets say I use detention sphere on Token 2/2 zombies. Now, if someone summons 2/2 zombie tokens after the fact, what happens to them? Are you allowed to summon them and then instantly sacrifice them to do something (like pump up another creature or cast a spell) or are you not even allowed to summon something who's name has been detention sphere'ed?

They can make as many more tokens as they want. Detention Sphere only checks for things with the same name when it first comes into play, so it will take out all current zombies. But any new zombies aren't affected.

Detention sphere only works on what was already on the board. Now, a card like Nevermore will operate somewhat like what you're thinking, except you won't be able to cast whatever the card is named for. So, no, the interactions don't work like that bro

Ahh, thanks guys, I understand it now. Glad we haven't played that card often enough to get it really wrong yet

New question: Are loyalty abilities activated abilities? As in, can I detain a planeswalker and stop him from doing that ability?

Yep. If you have something that detains a permanent, you can lock down a planeswalker for a turn.

Not sure about that merfolk. It could just be such a potentially dead card. It could also allow you to draw an absurd amount of cards.

Maybe if it was a 3/3 or something to guarantee more then 1 card for 6 mana... yuck.

Any deck I can see myself running this in should have a 3/3 body at least out by turn four or five when I'm looking to play her, and a 4/4 body that draws me 4 cards for six seems really good.

It's certainly not hard to craft a situation where you're drawing plenty of cards off of it, but to truly judge a card you need to look at the worst case scenario.

Worst case scenario is you get an elvish visionary for 6 mana.

Its a really good EDH card, might see some play in standard though

Also, wheres the boros cards wizards. Are they shitties then a lot of the shitty spoilers we have seen so far

Since it's a trigger, it's easy to respond to like exalted. Still, it seems decent. The narrow Mana leak isn't so bad either. Should help with Sphinx's revelation.

This thing is going to see a lot of play. Neutering Sphinx's Revelation is one thing, but essentially preventing early blowouts from Bonfire is going to put this in a lot of various builds.

Does nothing to opposing Bonfires.

EDIT: DOH! Didn't read the second half of the card! That's pretty sweet.

First good battalion card? Wow.

Also, I like the merfolk. Maybe not for standard but damn is she going to be sexy in my Maelstrom Wanderer deck.

Worst case scenario you don't draw any lands and can't play any card.

Just simply don't drop her if she isn't going to give you any benefit from her ability. If she's all you have in your hand and you don't have anything on the field to pump her up/draw you cards, then you're screwed anyway and at no fault of Zegana.

Can't wait to play around with Simic in a few weeks.

That Medic is really cool. I mean obviously you aren't going to actually be saccing him to counter anything very often, since it is on board (unless you Alchemist Refuge it out, wooooooo), but making a Revelation cost an effective 7 to draw one card is pretty great. And you can just not sac it if they leave the mana open.

Hopefully this means they are going to try out the "tax" type counters more in White.

CALLING IT FOR NEW STANDARD GUYS

I am not a standard player, and am mostly retired from competitive magic except for the occasional draft to get my 15 QPs and get dat Force. Still, this sounds ABSURDLY fun to play.
