Almost all of the "black + highlight" shinies look great, in my opinion.

The more I see Yveltal, I more I like it.

Every time I see shiny Scizor next to shiny Metagross I can't help but think of what a waste it is.

I think black would of been a better shiny color but then again i think black has a tendency to make anything look better... Scizor and it's preevolution are possibly some of the best designs already imo so i'll give them a pass.

All shinies are ugly and tacky.
It hinders stat progression as more evolved forms will gain more points for leveling up. But they will level up faster, and sometimes learn moves they could only learn without evolving.
OH, also:
I remember I was using an action replay to find Cyndaquil's in the wild (you can't see them in game and trade for them in HG/SS so I had no choice) and I ended up encountering a legit shiny, yet faked pokemon. Game froze before I could catch it, but it's not like it would have been totally legitimate anyways.
It was a sad day. I very VERY rarely run into shinies, and one of the three times I have, it was an illegal Pokemon.

Depends on the Pokemon.
If a Pokemon evolves by leveling up normally, it usually just learns moves a few levels later than if it was held back.
If a Pokemon evolves with an evolutionary stone, it usually stops learning moves naturally.
If a Pokemon evolves via happiness, trading, or by leveling up with a certain move learned or in a certain place, there's not usually a change.
Exceptions are many, such as if a Pokemon evolves into a branching evolution or changes types on evolving. Some "baby" evolutions will have very different learnsets too.
The way stats are calculated, there's no difference between when you evolve a Pokemon. Stats are always calculated using the species base stat, with nature, EVs and IVs applied after.

Cool. I was planing on letting Snivy and Pidove until they were like level 40 (or maybe not at all lol).
It can change to order in which you learn moves.
Example. Evolving Growlithe to Arcanine early and you can learn Extreme Speed with Arcanine. But wait, and Growlithe can learn Flamethrower which Arcanine cannot. But then you lose out on Extreme Speed.
Other than that, you are just delaying the big boost in base stats that evolving causes.

This reminds me that I lost my shiney Zigzagoon. I encountered it like an hour into Sapphire and had it for aaaaages. Literally the first shiney I ever caught.
But then it disappeared.
It's a pretty ugly looking shiney... but still...
I've never had a shiny. But I caught a shiny Absol on my friends game and he refused to trade it to me...
