Vita PSN Game & Service Thread 2

I'm not sure I get your point. I most situations you can easily see the grass IF there's a patch between you and your prey. Also, you can "evade" while running to catch on your preys, just make sure you don't completely deplete your stamina. Finally, you run much much faster when you are older; this is extremely obvious when playing coop.

I mean in nethack/et. al. you can go back into rooms you've explored (or hell, the starting area) and take enemies out that way by planning your attack near a doorway or getting around them by going a different direction if you know there's one. Here, there's no sense of that, you know the grass is there but you can't see it to plan ahead. So you bumble ahead, see chickens they flee. You go into the grass but they won't come back since they know you're there. So you either 1) go ahead and bumble again or 2) go somewhere else only to repeat 1 repeatedly. The camera not letting me see a little bit ahead is stupid. :/

I went out to try and buy a Vita today. There was not a single bundle pack within 50 miles of me. I so wish that the Sly Bundle was coming here in the States.

My gamestop manager told me gamestop had now sold out of both wifi Vita bundles. Seems like they are a good value. I hope Sony continues to try and push the Vita with more of them.

Yeah that game isn't for everyone, despite liking it I couldn't "finish" it.

I just like cats.

I get your point. Thankfully the environment is not randomized. Being able to see too much ahead would've been a pain to balance though. BTW you are playing in 720p and not in 480p right?

Okay so this is not 100% Vita but it is related. I've been thinking about getting into the Y's series on PSP but never got around to it. I just checked the Euro Vita store and I & II Chronicles, 7 and Oath in Felghana are all there. So which one would people recommend to start with?

Bearing in mind I have no experience with the series yet. As a beginner would I be good with any or is there a particular one that is more palatable to newbies? If the former, then is there any narrative considerations that might influence the order of playing them?

I bought Oath late last year as my first Ys game and I've put a few hours into it. It's a good, mashy ARPG and definitely quite accessible. I've heard Seven might be even better though.

So I started up PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale and posted my impression in the corresponding community thread:

I just started this game up for the first time and wow this is a God-tier PlayStation game. So far I have only gone through Practice and Arcade with Jak & Daxter on the easiest difficulty unlocking stuff.

I love it!

This is a long-time dream come true and it's such a special feeling watching these icons duking it ouch against each other.

Even though Crash, Spyro, Snake, Lara and Cloud aren't there, we got icons like Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper, Nathan Drake, Dante, Nariko, Raiden, Spike, Sir Daniel, Heihachi, Fat Princess, Cole McCrath and such - I can't really complain much. I'm looking SO much forward to Kat from Gravity Rush though.

I'm thinking of either getting Rayman Origins, Lumines: Electronic Symphony or Virtue's Last Reward as my next game if I can find them cheap but for now I'll write some reviews.

Arcade mode and menus are pretty barebones, but the actual combat and online are very solid. Can't wait for the DLC.

All three of them are great and very different so choose based on what genre you want to play next. Rayman should be cheap enough by now and looks amazing. I'd highly recommend that one.

The gameplay itself is fantastic but it's everything else that lets it down/ There's a foundation for a much better sequel that's for sure.

I have seen Rayman Origins for $35 at my local GameStop but I think I'm gonna go with Lumines, it was one of my absolute favorites on PSP.

I can't wait to try out the online but I'm in bed and don't wanna get out to get the online pass right now heh.

Is Persona 4: Golden battle heavy?

I really like the atmosphere and everything around it, getting immersed in te world and story.

Even though I played it for 1 hour or so on the PS2 I don't remember much, I don't even think I got to a battle. Anyway, I kind of suck at turn-based battles besides Pokèmon and Final Fantasy until I get stuck at ONE battle and then quits.

P4G can be battle heavy, but if you play it on it's easiest setting you shouldn't find it overwhelmingly so. The battle themes keep me interested in the combat for long stretches. I could listen to them for hours.

Just play it on easy or very easy.

Do the easy settings reduce the number of battles? I don't care for combat as much I really just want it to be more of a visual novel.

Yeah I'll probably do that. Can't wait for February 22! It's actually one of the few games I'm kind of excited about this year. Hopefully Final Fantasy X HD also comes out in 2013.

Yeah, you go back and forth between handling your social life and battling in dungeons. So far the time spent doing both feels pretty balanced. The battling also seems to be easier than Pokemon and Final Fantasy. I'm playing on normal btw, and I'd say I'm just a casual RPG player. I don't bother with getting deep into games' systems.

I guess. I just played another round with the Pomnerian and got up to like 25 years. Screwed up trying to rush back to another challenge (didn't complete marking fast enough to claim territory) and screwed up fucking because you "can't screw in your parents bed." :| Bullshit, tell that to some drunk high-school chick.

Awesome. I just ordered the PS3 and will pick up the $300 instant collection vita tomorrow.

Any reason to activate the 3G feature on my vita?

Honestly? Probably not. The only reason I could see somebody using the 3G in it's current state is if you don't have a smartphone. Now, I bought the 3G because I got the First Edition Bundle, but I'm keeping in mind that at some point they may offer a compelling reason for it's functionality. So I wouldn't activate it right now, but we may eventually have a good reason to use it.

So did you end up getting a Vita? I'm confused because I thought your 3G question above implied that you had one right now.

Sorry. I called and had my local gamestop set aside the last instant collection bundle. I'll have it first thing in the morning, and a PS3 on Monday. :D

Ooooh instant collection bundle! Nice! That one looks like the best bundle, IMO, and Unit 13 (which I'm sure you're aware it comes with) is great.

it was either that or drive 75 miles away to buy the black ops bundle. Unit 13 looks like a better game, and PS+ makes sense as I will have both systems.

I'll preorder Sly 4 while I am in the store as well. Gotta throw some love to quality vita game development. :D

YES. Sly 4 is a native res beauty. I have to respect anybody who wants to get that game :D

In case you didn't see it, here's a couple of screenshots straight from the Vita's built-in screenshot functionality (but shrunken down to a size that best represents how it looks on the Vita screen):

Gah! You're making the wait unbearable!

^_^

Buy Ninja Gaiden Sigma + people, then buy Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2+ when it releases 2/26/13 in NA -

Looks like Resident Evil Revelations is coming to 360/PS3....

Loved the game on 3DS (favorite RE entry/story since 2) - probably not coming to Vita. I think it would be nice on Vita...shit, they're upressing to the consoles, why not throw a Vita edition, too?!?

If the guys doing the lego games on handhelds can afford to do lazy 3DS ports to Vita then I'm sure Capcom could, even if they made it PSN only. There's no excuse for it to not happen.

Sort of. Easy grants more experience, which offsets the fact that you're skipping encounters more often (battles aren't random - enemies appear on the map and you can dodge them if you'd like).

Because Capcom.

No excuse. They port their Crapcom wares everywhere else...I don't understand their grief to grind against Vita. Even if TecmoKoei is porting ports over, at least they're adding features and functions. I really have mad respect toward TecmoKoei, for including Vita, in their software endeavors. They are the highest profile Japanese publisher showing some (a lot of) love.

Please people buy Ninja Gaiden Sigma +, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 + (2/26/13 NA) and Dead or Alive 5 + (3/19/13 NA) - support those, who support us - especially with good games!!!!!!
