Vita PSN Game & Service Thread 2

No excuse. They port their Crapcom wares everywhere else...I don't understand their grief to grind against Vita.
The stubbornly loyal Capcom of the PSP era is a lot different from the Capcom of today.

Their porting ways haven't changed, but now they go where the money is (or try to) and have wildly different priorities, as demonstrated by their endless stream of Westernized bastardizations of their most famed IPs.

The only part of Capcom that seems to have retained even a modicum of regard for their diehard fans is the fighting game teams. UMvC3 and SFxT themselves might be divisive, but there's no denying that they are crafted with impressively stuffing helpings of fan-service.

No surprise, then, that those are the only Capcom games Vita's gotten and probably ever will get (the ubiquitous Capcom Arcade excepted).

Saddening really.

Capcom hot dog no more, sad puppy has become. <---trying to adopt a Toto/Kyon style analogy ^_-

I'm not as hip or with it, though....

The same Capcom that brought Resident Evil and Devil May Cry to the PSP? (Ha!) That delayed the formerly exclusive Harvey Birdman a year to port it to the Wii and PS2 as well? That didn't even localize the last MH even though other companies localized their MH clones?

Capcom treated the PSP rather shabbily, they got lucky getting an unexpectedly huge hit from a port, and milked it for all it was worth. And even then, you could argue they would have been better off releasing one more MHP on PSP instead of jumping to the 3DS early.

Oh this sucks. Won my second round in Arcade with Raiden and I just got a black screen with a looping sound effect.

Also, PS All-Stars really makes me want Metal Gear Rising for Vita!

Btw, can I import the American version of Persona 4 from Amazon and play it on my EU Vita with no limitations?

Shouldn't be. The biggest caveat to importing games on the Vita is that DLC is region locked but P4 doesn't have any DLC.

Not 100% sure though so hopefully someone else can chime in.

Stop all of your multi region nonsense!

I'm referring more so to the early PSP years, when we got kick-ass but surefire bombs like MMPU, Maverick Hunter X, UGnG, and Power Stone Collection.

The later PSP stuff sort of coincides with their decline that began on consoles this gen.

The RE: Revelation situation makes me wonder about all of those App developers out there. Some of them have to be getting to the right size to be able to pull off a quick PS3 to Vita port of a game like that.

I hate to be an a******...but what have we seen besides that god d*** Ninja level? I feel like for 2 years all I've seen is that stupid Kung Fu Panda tiger.

That haven't showed very much off, for which I'm tremendously grateful. You can actually find a decent bit more of the PS3 version if you look around, but we've only seen one group of screenshots for the Vita version so far.

The game has five worlds, for which we've seen two so far (Paris style and Eastern style). Each world seems to take several hours to beat, and that's without really exploring the hub worlds and getting collectibles.

If you would like to watch a live playthrough of the first couple of hours on the PS3 version with commmentary by the Sanzaru Games guys, watch here. Very enjoyable.

After getting more time in with EDF, I must say...This game is fantastic. It's challenging, it's over the top, it's full of content...I realize everyone wants a price cut on this, but with all it has to offer, I can honestly say it's been with my $40 so far.

I GOT to have Sly on Vita. Finally a 3D platformer and I'm currently playing the awesome HD trilogy.

The thing about Vita is, that we finally have very nice graphics on a handheld combined with a good dosis of control inputs.

and what do people do???? they wait for a price cut.

well the memory cards don't help. I was leaning towards getting a vita day 1 until I found out it wasn't going to have any on board memory and that the memory was going to be expensive. I was also quite turned off by the fact ps1 support wasn't there day 1 as I wanted to replay crash and spyro on the go.... yeah... still not happy about not being able to do that :/

In general though I blame the 3ds. The vita looked like a great deal until the 3ds dropped the price, and once the 3ds dropped the price people expected sony to run and drop the price right away as soon as sales weren't great.

I am curious to see how sales change after a price cut though, it would be awesome if they took off like the 3ds and more companies want to develop for it.

Can't wait for Sly, amazing we can play basically a PS3 game on the Vita

Eh, I don't think that price is the real issue, as evidenced by the low sales of the Vita during Black Friday (190K I believe).

Hey there Vitacats. New user, long time lurker just wanted to plant my roots in VitaGAF. Got mine on release day and I have too many games to count. Definitely looking forward to Soul Sacrifice and don't worry: I already have Mutant Blob. ;)

I think the bigger problem is that Sony undermanufactured holiday bundles. Best Buy and Gamestop are both out of the Black Ops and AC bundles.

After those bundles, who wants to buy the normal system for $249 without a game or a memory card?

Welcome to VitaGAF! :)

the price is just one of two factors holding the vita back. The fact is the vita really didn't have a big fall game either. You had asscreed which was hated on by reviewers, and call of duty which was chewed apart by viewers.

The funny thing is even with COD being pretty much a garbage version of the game it still sold well... imagine what would happen if it was a proper version of the game lol.

More marketing wouldn't hurt either. I have friends who own a 360 with kinect and didn't even realize that sony released a new handheld.

Is there a way to check total time for a festival in Motorstorm without using a pen and paper? :lol

They're just enthralled by all that Kinect has to offer. o_O

I don't know if they actually own a single Kinect game, they got kinect because they though the voice commands looked cool in the ads and use it pretty much strictly for that lol. (he uses the 360 as his living room media hub)

just an example though of how good marketing can help move a product even if a customer only likes ones aspect of that product.

Does wake up club have a snooze feature? I could use a new alarm myself since I have started to glitch my phone out from to much snoozing :P
I hope so, lol

and yeah I hate using my phone >_>

I am seriously at a loss for what to play on this thing in 2013; Wake Up Club is my killer app. And I am OK with that.

oh I already likely know what my GOTY on vita in 2013 will be, but I am hoping that more games that interest me get announced and I can get excited for them

btw my goty on the vita will likely be
the binding of isaac remake... so much time will be lost to that if it's at least the same quality as the pc version

How does Wake Up Club even work? Do you have to leave the app running all night? Do you have to unlock the system before you can turn off the alarm?

Finally picked up P4G after work today.

Why didn't anyone tell me there was a live concert video of the P3:FES opening theme? That alone justified the purchase.

But Chie : (

How do I get my PS3 save for motorstorm to move to my vita? the vita to PS3 update is pretty quick, but i definitely got an extra medal on PS3 earlier and it's not showing on my vita.

Also, still wondering about checking "total time" for each festival... any way to do this so I know how far over I am on the "under 10 minutes for all the events" trophies?

Just back out to the festival selection. It should give you total festival times.
Including mine. ;)

get P4G and LBP Vita :)

I beta tested LBP Vita and while it was fun, I didn't foresee myself actually playing it past the beta. P4G I keep meaning to get but I keep getting distracted with other games. First time I tried to buy it, I ended up getting ACIII:R. The next time I tried to get it, I got DJMAX Technika Tune in the mail. Now my backlog is pretty full and I have no time with college etc. Help! :(

All those Disney PS1 Classics make that statement questionable
Well, those are super-old games. If they can still rip-off some money from customers, I guess that's a plus for them. BBS is more of a premium title, so that could have something to do with it.

Tetsuya Nomura himself said that Disney was not to blame - and nor was it Square-Enix's or Utada Hikaru's fault.

Of course he'd say that... The fact that Dream Drop Distance ain't available either speaks volumes. Square Enix certainly doesn't have any problems releasing retail games digitally as proven by PSN & Steam & all other well established DD services (I mean, from 2009 or 2010 forwards they've released pretty much all of their major as well as most of their more minor games digitally).

In my opinion the "reason he can't talk about" is that Square doesn't want to release digitally titles they have (even remote) plans to remake on HD consoles or Vita. DDD and BBS could get a PS3 release with the whole new project starting with KH 1.5; Crisis Core could see a Vita release in the future when they decide to launch once again the FFVII franchise; Lenneth... frankly I don't think it will ever see a remake but maybe it just hasn't sold enough to justify the fees SE should pay for digital hosting on PSN.
Just my two cents here though.

I got my Vita today, downloading all the PS+ Vita freebies I've been stockpiling!

Any cool tips or tricks I wouldn't know about since I shun user manuals?

Add me if you'd like, AllforcePSN is the tag.

Don't download jetpack joyride in case you spend four hours playing that to get a few stupid trophies, instead of finally starting gravity rush like you'd planned, even though you've played it to death on the iPad already

Kind of a niche tip, but I'd have found it useful yesterday :/

I hope so, I just did the same but from play-Asia

But yeah, retail cards are fine, just no DLC. I'm playing UK MGS on my Japanese vita no problem and japanes retail games on my uk PSN account

Main game works fine, I'm currently 52 hours into an American copy of Persona 4 golden on my Australian Vita. If they add DLC to this bad boy I might have to drop work to a 3 day week.

As I said earlier, Crisis Core seems to be more of a case of them not wanting to pay licensing fees for that Japanese artist (sorry, I do know the name but I can't remember it anymore) whose song(s?) is(/are) in the game, a reason why many games are still waiting for a re-release on digital platforms.

Also, we ARE talking about the company that has released some of their games (FFIV hellooooh!) on more platforms that anyone can count (both physical retail releases as well as digital), so I doubt the remakes are the reason why it's not there, especially since they WERE releasing games digitally day 1 at the time of BBS's release (I guess that could've been a valid argument if BBS had come years & years ago when DD wasn't a thing) and especially not in case of a new game like Dream Drop Distance, which was released a mere month (or even less?) before Nintendo opened up 3DS eShop to retail releases and isn't even 6 months old, at this point.

Hadn't even heard of this, now intrigued.

Unfortunately, probably shouldn't get my hopes up...

It's Square Enix's "I canz has Monster Hunter money plz" attempt. It was a PSP/Vita launch game in Japan so by now you can rule it out. The first game, Lord of Arcana was released on PSP in North America. From what I've heard it's kind of a turd.

P4G is indeed lovely, at least it has been for me so far.
I can take or leave Chie.

Anyway, I do indeed have my new Vita, and I've been very much been enjoying it as much as ever. I do hope I can get around to getting VLR, Stranger's Wrath and Sly in the coming weeks and all. By the by, how is Playstation All-Stars and LBP on Vita?
