Vita PSN Game & Service Thread 2

It's barebones as hell.

The fact that it's barebones is my favorite thing about it. Just yesterday I put Resistance 3 in and was annoyed in a matter of minutes by all the bullshit people get to use in multiplayer.

But does it at least have people playing Deathmatch? I don't need much else if it has Deathmatch or Team Deathmatch.

It has people playing it but lag makes it annoying to play. I wouldn't recommend it, specially now that Killzone shouldn't be that far.

I don't expect Killzone: Mercenary before fall.

Owz, but lag kills it for me. Though, it being simple and barebones is what I like. I don't want perks, levelling up, upgrading and such things.

Currently trying to buy psp games as I've never owned one. What do you guys reccommend?

So far I got FF:Tactics, Knights in the Knightmare, Yggdra Union, Brain Challenge, Crush and Hexyz Force

If you like SRPG I would also recommend Jeanne D'Arc and Disgaea Afternoon of Darkness. It's typical to recommend Tactics Ogre as the best PSP SRPG - I guess I'm weird because I got bored and never finished it. There's also Valkyria Chronicles 2. It is a good game but I felt it is inferior to the PS3 game despite the improvements they made to the classes/sub classes which make it feel like more of an RPG.

Other games I recommend are Persona 3 Portable (a bit redundant on the gameplay end of you plan to play Persona 4 Golden) Trails in the Sky (decent RPG), Y's Oath in Felghana, Y's 7 (two different action RPG)

There are a lot of other games I found fun like Half Minute Hero, Cladun, Patchwork Heroes, No Heroes Allowed, Locoroco, etc that I maybe or maybe not would recommend if I ever got around to finishing them :)

I found PSP games to play by going through gamerankings and YouTube footage. I liked a lot of the games in the 70s and low 80s more than some of the higher ranked games.

don't forget to post your PSN names NewbieGaf!

Oops, forgot about that. Hello again, Vitagaf. Feel free to add me too.
Current Vita Games: Gravity Rush, Virtues Last Reward, PSASBR, Wipeout 2048, Touch My Katamari, AC3:L, When Vikings Attack, Mutant Blobs Attack, Sound Shapes, Hustle Kings, FIFA13, NFS:MW, and busy downloading Uncharted right now :)

PSN (EU/ZA) - Charmoyl
PSN (JP) - Gallant_Sandwich (Only been used for Soul Sacrifice demo so far.)

Been a while since we heard anything about KZ:Mercenary and Tearaway, hasn't it? :/

Yeah but there should be new information on Killzone: Mercenary soon, while we'll probably get more footage of Tearaway at E3.

I don't mean to blow all of your minds here, but Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational is pretty great. Favorite Vita game so far (I don't have many though, so take that as you will)

Edit: Is MotorStorm RC worth $5? I'm a bit confused looking at the store, looks like its loaded with micro transactions?

I do like HSG a lot. The last game was one of the best games on PSP imo. More people should have bought it when it was on sale for only $8 with PS+

Regarding Motorstorm RC the dlc is mostly unnecessary car skins (that you can barely see on Vita). There are a few level packs but it will take a long while to finish the original festival. I can't remember if there's a demo. If there is you should try it because the opinions I read about it tend to be love/hate. I got it free and it didn't click but I think part of it was me expecting a proper Motorstorm game. What I liked about Motorstorm was going over rough terrain, big jumps, avoiding obstacles etc and this seems like more of a time trial game. I had fun for a bit anyway, just a little disappointed especially when the PSP game shows its possible to make the same sort of game that is on consoles.

My PSN name is the same as my screen name. Anyone can add me

Hi VitaGAF. I'm another new member with a Vita. :) Currently playing Smart As.., Treasures of Montezuma (still playing...), Mortal Kombat, WipEout 2048 and LittleBigPlanet Vita. I've plenty of other games like PSABR, Virtua Tennis, SFxT and even Spy Hunter.

I need some more vita peeps on my friendlist, so I will be adding some names soon. Feel free to add mine if you like. ^^

PSN - Animekatt
Please say you're from GAF also. I hate blank requests lol.

Seems like I have 49 minutes? or so for the first festival, but no trophy? What gives?
I can add up my times manually and it's a lot less. What the hell? And why hasn't it sync'ed from the ps3 version yet?!
That is weird. I don't see your name on any of the individual races but I do for the overall festival time.
Are you playing in Vita?

Where's the surge of new Vita people coming from all of a sudden? Did we accept a new batch of people?

Regardless welcome to Vita gaf!

It's because GAF is the only place we can come for Vita love. Everywhere else is nothing but doom and gloom. "PSVita pronounced DOA" "Sony makes most epic mistake ever by releasing amazing handheld" "The Vita Is A Great System—Too Bad Sony Screwed It Up" on and on and on.

So basically this thread is the place everyone whispers about in a zombie apocalypse as the last hope for civilization. That means it's only a matter of time before someone fucks up and the walls get overrun.

One of the zombies will say "Mutant Blobs sucks!" and Carl will run out to fight it, leaving the door wide open behind him.

Then we're screwed.

This place really does seem like a last bastion for people who like the Vita as a system more than as a Sales Age talking point.

A lot of people to add on PSN... may end up having more Vita friends on my list than PS3 lol.

I was wondering tho... are there any people who would be interested in playing Wipeout 2048 later? I'm not too far in the game (just finished the 2048 season), but I'd like to give the multiplayer a shot. If anybody wants to add me before I get a chance to add them, my PSN ID is oldyella

Are you playing in Vita?

Both -- but I just updated to the Motorstorm RC full bundle so I'm no longer powered by Scion?
Hence all the questions about it "cloud" syncing... it works from my Vita to my PS3, but I've gotten 2 medals that don't show up on my Vita copy. Not sure why, trying to get that fixed.

Your overall time in Motorstorm RC will not show correctly if you haven't completed every single event at least once.

Every single event are all the medal events, right?
Do you mean for each festival? or for the whole game?

I think killzone and tearaway will be out before gamescom 2013.

You have to transfer Via PS3 I believe

This may still be true. I got a vita at launch and put it on my original memory card back when almost everything had to be transferred via ps3. But i had to transfer everything via ps3 anyways because I was living in college dorms at the time and you couldn't access my college's wifi using a vita. And tethering through my phone drained the bat really fast along with my data.

I made my first post in here last night. Now that i'm back, my PSN is CometsStar. Feel free to add. I've posted some fair times on the gravity rush and motorstorm rc leaderboards. Nothing super competitive though.

Right now i've got Wipeout, Treasure Park, and dissidia on my current memory card. That i check out in-between Persona 4 Golden play sessions. I have Hot Shots on my other memory card, when i remember to switch back to that memory card i'd be up for playing that.

Or you're already infected from inside. DUN-DUN-DUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN~

Mutant Blobs sucks!

...

I haven't even played it.

Sony can't keep those Vitas on the shelves, uh? They're starting to FLY off them, as they should <3

I wouldn't get too excited. I'm pretty sure in that interview posted last week Kaz said the December sales were on the low end of their expectations. So unless they had insane expectations, which is doubtful, it probably didn't sell very well.

I thought that was overall worldwide sales? I tend to ignore sales talk of any kind, but it's hard to avoid on here sometimes.

But that was BEFORE these two first weeks of January. Everything has changed and the incredible influx of people on vitagaf proves it!

But yeah, I was kidding and failing at being dramatic as a matter of fact :P

Have anyone here tried Persona 4: Arena?

How is it and how does it play? Is it more easily accessible than Street Fighter and Marvel Vs. Capcom? Because I really can't seem to get into those, while I rock at Tekken.

I did -not- expect SFxT to be so much better than the console versions, controls notwithstanding.

Man, they really would have done better with that title had they not held all the releases back with what's in the Vita version. Definitely the best one - amazing stuff.

Just each race in a particular festival. Which you have no?
That's why I was trying to check the I individual race boards to see if you did all at least once.

Just started to play motorstorm RC again after a break. What's the best way to do the pitwall trophy, and is there anywhere that shows your progress towards it? Does challenging times that pop up while you are in the playground count, or if you browse a friend and challenge, or do you have to initiate them from the pitfall?

And is there anything to find by going up the scaffolding?

What does it have that the console version doesn't, save not having to pay $20 for the 12 DLC characters?

There are a couple races that I can't see friends on the leaderboards for... I'm not sure why. :(

Hi, everybody! My PSN user name is Soul4ger! Add me, please, I'm very competitive with trophies and I really want to start playing online multiplayer on Vita. Gracias in advance.

All the microtransactions are just cosmetic apart from a few track packs IIRC. It's worth the money if you enjoy games like Micro Machines.

Motorstorm is my most played game on Vita, its a fantastic RC game with tons of content. And yeah, there are 250 cars ingame, but you can buy like 40 or so other ones. Just skins though, they dont really matter.

On top of what spats said. The micro transactions are really just for different car skins and a couple unique cars. They also added in packs to unlock all the unlockables right away (races/car skins). Some of the DLC cars are not unlockable in the main game. There are plenty to unlock without paying money.

The base game is worth $5, i downloaded the base when it was free and it's probably my most played vita game currently. I'm not sure how good of a deal it is to buy the base with the 2 DLC tracks (Pro-AM and Festival) that give you more races. Even without the dlc the base game is a good deal since they include a variety of tracks based off of the previous motorstorm games.

I bought hot shots around christmas myself. I played the original hot shots golf back on Ps1, series is still one of my favorite ones. I just kept missing opportunities to buy it on sale.

Sorry to get back to you all so late. Thanks for the info, I don't mind extra skins and stuff as DLC so long as the base game is solid, so I'll be picking up RC here shortly. I'm glad it doesn't take up too much space, still rocking the 4 gig card that came with my Assassin's Creed bundle :(

Persona 4: Arena is not on the Vita. Persona 4 Golden is though.
