Yeah, but I have more sympathy for Mackie.

Oprah's team has confirmed that they will not pay Armstrong for this interview, I believe.

Although this is shady as fuck from Armstrong considering Oprah is famous for her soft-handling.

Hopefully the bastard gets to be punished as severely as possible, although it is highly doubtful considering he employs an army of top-leading lawyers to defend his cause *sigh*

Glad it's finally over. All of the evidence pointed to Armstrong being dirty and now the truth comes from the horse's mouth.

I don't get it though, All his teammates were using banned substances but he gets to burn in hell? They all admitted to using it and yet Lance came out strong. They snitched because he was better than they were even though they were all on drugs. Lance was just better.

I'm not defending him in anyway just so you guys know. His teammates are snitches and crying babies because Lance got all the fame.

the best thing Armstrong could do is finally blow the lid on verbruggen and mcquaid

I really really hope he exposes the corruption within the UCI, but somehow I doubt it, he'll probably just expose other riders, both current and former. That's good too though, the sport really needs to come clean on its past, especially the heyday of blood doping during the 90s and early 00s.

They're all as bad.

But he rose further, gained more, and so has further to fall and more to lose.

People who win races take the prize money and the glory. If they do it dirty, they effectively steal money and livelihoods from other clean racers. If Armstrong wasn't there, and his teammates were winning these races, they'd have been doing that. But Armstrong won more and thus stole more. They tried to steal via their own doping but didn't succeed as often.

A source told ABC News that Armstrong is also talking to cycling authorities about naming names of others involved in illegal doping in hopes of reducing his lifetime ban.
LOL...
So hes a cheater and a snitch.... Discusting.

The bolded made me LOL - you mean better at using performance-enhancing drugs? Sure, you can look at it this way.

He gets the hate for reasons other mentioned before - he actively bribed and bullied others into doping and to hide his actions. This was not "I did it, I am so sorry", the guy is simply a scumbag.

What's wrong with naming names? I'd like to know everyone who was involved. I use to love the Tour de France but all the doping has completely turned me off. If any good can come of this, it's the Tour having a major house cleaning and getting some semblence of legitimacy back. Should Lance get a reduced ban? No, but his racing days are over and he'll be in civil court for a long time.

Are you fucking serious? Snitching on all the people that participated and helped in dragging the sport down in the mud is the _one_ single thing he could that could redeem him, however infinitesimally...

Ugh, is that a spoiler?

I guess you don't really get how cycling works (it's very much a team sport, you simply can't win the TDF without a team helping you), and you certainly don't understand how his team was made up. You didn't get to be better than Lance, aside from the fact that he was the kingpin (you did what he said), if you even looked like being better than him he changed the your drug regime, you didn't get your transfusion or if you still didn't play ball you got thrown in their B team. Aside from that, they didn't snitch because he was better... they snitched because he hung them out to dry (you think his bribing of the authorities saved his team mates too?).

You should read some of the books that are out there on it. It's quite fascinating.

I feel no sympathy for this fool after reading and hearing about all the accounts of him going after and ruining the lives of anybody who tried to rat him out.

Lots of sponsors and companies are gearing up to take back what they gave him and then some, I hope he loses every single cent he has to his name.

Oprah can break out the claws when she wants to. Remember when she interviewed the Million Little Pieces author after it was revealed he made most of it up? She tore into them, though maybe partly because he made her look like a fool by recommending the book highly and single handedly boosting its sales.

I knew he was cheating from day 0.

And I honestly cant believe so many people thought he wasnt... Granted I assume all cyclists are cheating... but still!

Was it that people wanted to believe his story, that they were unwilling to realise how... phoney it all was? In many ways its like he used his cancer... he got the benefit of the doubt from most people because cancer... It all makes it so much worse...

And if he is anything but shunned by everyone after this, then it will be a real shame. He is the biggest fraud, the worst human being... well not hitler bad, but still. Hitler never used cancer sympathy to cover invading Poland!

Watching the discovery channel I see they have exclusive rights to show this interview internationally lol.
How much money is he going to fetch for this...

I couldn't care less that he's admitting to doping. The guy is a shitty human being all around. I'd rather he apologize for being a worthless bully.

What I don't like is that he still has enough status that he can ask someone like Oprah for an interview and even do it on his own terms. A piece of shit like him shouldn't be allowed to do something like that. I understand that it's the only way he would have talked, but he shouldn't have a choice. I hope he got absolutely shredded by Oprah, doubt it though.

Status is power, in this case his status as a celebrity was completely built on a lie. The government should be allowed to take people like him, revoke their identity, make them unrecognizable through plastic surgery and throw them on the street. Hobo Lance would be screaming on a street corner "Do you know who I am?! I'm fucking Lance Armstrong! The government change my face!" and people would be like "Go home hobo, you're drunk! Who would want to be Lance Armstrong? lol!"

I got a good chuckle out of it.

Oprah being surprised at this is the exact reason why she should never have been the one to interview him in the first place.

And the exact reason Lance chose her... but that's already been said a million times already. I wonder what the Hell this means, anyway? He gave a half-assed acknowledgment, I guess? Kinda like pleading no-contest?

"French government agents would follow me, ambush me and forcefully inject me with PEDs!"

Were any of the non-guilty ones ever suspected of doping?

Yes. Not sure about Lemond, but there was skepticism about Indurain's long-ass run for a while. I mean, if a tiny guy like Pantani is doping, you know Big Mig was on something too.

The witch hunt for dopers is ridiculous. Everyone was doing it. Well, anyone that was actually good. PEACE.

I'm glad Armstrong is coming clean and I'm glad he's getting fair punishment, but man, some of you are talking like you want the guy to become a homeless bum. I don't think he deserves that.

Something about Lance makes me believe he would love to fuck someone over enough to make them homeless, so I really don't give a fuck.

Again, he flat out ruined a number of peoples lives and / or careers to cover his own arse (greed). He'd pretty much deserve it.

Ugh, is that a spoiler?

it would be helpful, but nobody should have any illusions about why hes snitching and its to draw attention away from his own shitstorm. I mean, snitch now when hes been caught red handed and spent years denying the charges? such moral courage.

I'm not an advocate for eye-for-an-eye justice, but I'd like him to get a taste of the shit he put other people through in his sociopathic quest to maintain his pristine image.

Except he won't, not in his condition. After radiotherapy and chemotherapy your lung capacity is permanently reduced.

Which is exactly why he'll always be a hero to me. I've seen what cancer can do to people. Fact is, most people wouldn't be able to do what he did even with all the drugs and cheating in the world. Anyone that can kick cancer's ass and still be active has my respect.

Actively ruining people lives for denouncing what he well knew was the truth all along. Bullying people into doping. Lying to millions of people and cheating for personnal gains.
I think he would deserve it.

This isn't how cycling works. Everyone has a role to play. Some riders' jobs are to ride faster than the team "star" to let him draft and conserve energy, some to challenge other riders and burn them out, etc. And stop buying into the "jealous bitches" thing, that's Armstrong's lamest excuse of all.

Has Triple U eaten any crow yet?

Well, I guess I have no reason to care about cycling anymore. It was good while it lasted. It's like the steroid issue in baseball, I think it makes it more interesting.

He did win after beating cancer, drugs or no that's a crazy feat once, much less 7 times. The whole sport seems dirty now.

Wasnt there one maid or PA or something who Armstrong treated like shit as he believed 'she knew too much'.

I really hope after this airs Armstrong somehow is treated like a good guy. This guy has to be one of the worst cheaters in the history of all sport and he should be treated as so.

The guy is a fraud!!
