I think the graphics in FS are better than TTT2 but that is just me.

The differences between FS and Vanilla 5 are huge. You can't say FS is a 6.5 year old game when it plays differently than Vanilla 5. Same with AE2012. It was released in late 2011. The game is 1+ year old but I do know what you are trying to say. I myself see every update as a new game because it changes how the game is played.

SFxT 2013 is essentially a new game, but it's still SFxT, and had it come out next year, I don't think its chances for making any major line ups would have been good. Timing matters.

FS's changes go beyond just a few balance tweaks and new characters. The only thing that's really the same is how the game looks. Street Fighter 2 to Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo is a better comparison. Also, like I said earlier, it had main stage play last year. It's a very new game to the west since the only way we could play it before was if we were lucky enough to have a local arcade that imported the cabinet. And it actually even seemed to be a hit with the people watching live and on streams.

FS major changes

sideturn
throw break system entirely changed (but they forgot to change side throws which sucks)
removal of DM/OM
bounds (very limited in VF5 vanilla)
removal of throw clash

SF4 had big character changes, but the biggest system change was probably ultra choice. That's much less of a big deal.

Mane6 did tell them to vote for them instead if all they wanted was ponies at EVO, not their work/gameplay.

They are cool guys and I'm impressed that some people from the Smash community are blaming bronies for the current position of SG.
 
VF5: FS is very, very different from VF5. Just look at throws.

I tried to get Skullgirls in and everyone laughed at me and said we should put Melee instead because it was going to win. :( We'll see who's laughing when I win EVO!!
 
VF5 FS is such a great game, I know nothing about MLP but it is aggravating to see it take the lead due mostly to what I choose to believe is internet memes.
 
It must be the bronies giving Skullgirls their money, though, right? I don't recall anybody actually playing that game, so...

Melee's competitive community has come back in a big way in the past year or so and we're more than ready for a place at EVO. I think we'd bring more players and more hype than anyone else on the donation list right now, and (sadly) especially those who are at the top. It amazes me that some people are actually willing to donate to keep it away from EVO, I can't imagine someone watching Apex Top 8 on Sunday and still thinking that we don't deserve it.
 
Oh, my. Things have really escalated while I was away.

Can you imagine the amount of salt if not only MLP were to keep it's lead, but if Skullgirls were to snipe Melee of the 8th spot?

I hope to god everyone in the FGC comes together to get Skullgirls in. I reckon I'll be putting some money on it after I get paid in a couple of weeks, just before the donation drive finishes. I'd much rather see a game win that I have a high interest in watching than one I'll actively turn the stream off for.

I can't imagine there being that much salt. I'd imagine a lot of faux outrage of MLP won but other than that I don't think so. Skullgirls is still known enough where it winning wouldn't be that surprising.

Hopefully someone donates $10k to Guilty Gear.

I do think if Sega Cup wasn't happening,a lot of VFDC'ers would have plunked down 50-100 to get their game into EVO. Getting out to LA is expensive.

LA Akira was plunking down what, $50 a week to the best new player when VF was run at Super Arcade?
 
I'd like it if MLP won and Skullgirls got second. That way Skullgirls still gets the #8 slot, but ponies get the top 8 competition and the extra $1000.
 
The only 'serious' games I'd like to see win are Guilty Gear and Melty. If not those, then I'd rather something more 'fun' like Melee or even kusoge Divekick win. It'd be a nice break to watch something fun than have something serious like DoA or something that I don't care about.

You forgot these :-)

-Jumps are totally different than any VF game.

-Wall combos are buffed and very different than the previous VF due to the bound system. The only one that had something similar to FS wall combos was Wolf in Vanilla.

This is exactly what I think will happen.

I don't think it's in Sony or WB's best interest to pull something like that now though. They've waited too long and there would most definitely be a negative spin on it. It would be a plain and simple advertising buy although they would claim breast cancer (even if it is in their best intentions).

Think of the kind of side-tourny with stream you could host with that kind of money.

Honestly, I just want all the games (even MLP if it turns out good and has a scene) to get solid and visible representation at EVO. A bidding war basically means everyone but one side loses big.
