Well, Ray Lewis lied about not killing anybody and he's the NFL golden boy. Why shouldn't someone lie about cancer killing someone and get similar treatment?

I really can't wait for an official statement by Manti. It's going to be picked apart and analyzed every bit as much as what Lance said.

On Dec. 26, Notre Dame coaches were informed by Manti Te’o and his parents that Manti had been the victim of what appears to be a hoax in which someone using the fictitious name Lennay Kekua apparently ingratiated herself with Manti and then conspired with others to lead him to believe she had tragically died of leukemia. The University immediately initiated an investigation to assist Manti and his family in discovering the motive for and nature of this hoax. While the proper authorities will continue to investigate this troubling matter, this appears to be, at a minimum, a sad and very cruel deception to entertain its perpetrators.

Sounds like they're not going to say he never met her, but rather that she wasn't who she said she was and she duped him about the car wreck, leukemia, and everything else about her.

To summarize why Manti is not a victim and some of his lies:

-He never met any girl, even one impersonating someone else. We know this because they found the girl in the online pictures who was supposedly Lennay and she had no idea. If he met another girl, why would he have let the media use the wrong pictures and tweet at a girl using a different picture.

-They never took trips to Hawaii, as claimed.

-There is photographic evidence of him and the dude who created Lennay.

My bet is that they were lovers, and Manti is still not willing to come clean. But I also might just be betting that because that would be an entertaining twist.

Considering all the publicity this story got over the past year, I don't see how Manti wouldn't have known about it. Even if he doesn't own a television, Manti was interviewed multiple times, and I'm sure some reporter asked about his girlfriend or sent condolences. If he wasn't "in on it" he would have said "What girlfriend?" instead of playing along.
