I just love this design:

Now that I think about it: both Hoenn designs don't fit the climate very wel.. Hoenn's based on Kyushu, and the interior areas of the island would probably heat up real quick (though the coastline's are fine). Unless there's more than meets the eye with either design, I think preferences really just come down to costume aesthetics and the subtle changes in Sugimori's art style. I personally prefer Red Brendan, but they both look quite interesting. Maybe they'll give Brendan capris in the remakes, which makes more sense for that design than for the redesigned Gold.

I've wondered, for a long time, why he wears that particular hat. Is it meant to make him look older? implying he's more experienced? I don't know.

May's design is so much better than Brendan's.

Luckily you didn't have to see it too much, and the battle sprite was fine from the back.

Unfortunately from what we've seen XY is a step down from BW/B2W2 in terms of character design. But if we now have wardrobes perhaps it was just a bad outfit.

Are you kidding me? X/Y's trainers are definitely an improvement over B/W2. Not as good as B/W but those are the best.

What do you mean not as good as BW, the male's practically identical.

That's actually my biggest complaint with them, but since I'm 72% sure we're going to at least get selectable outfits I'll just run around as Gold anyway.

The base design for the male really resembles Black 1, though I like how they changed the female design up for a French look. None of this is going to matter outside of Sugimori art if we get customization.

My favorite trainers/character designs are easily Gen 1 and beginning of Gen 5 (BW1). (seriously what happened with BW2 in terms of trainer designs? They look awful in comparison but at the very least they are tolerable once you get past their goofy hair)

Why does everyone hate Nate's hair? My hair is like that :(

From past experience, no legitimate leak relating to a Pokémon Video Game has ever come from Nintendo, Game Freak, The Pokémon Company, or any other group associated with the actual game production. The real leaks have always come from someone involved in game journalism who was given an early look at something (so they could get their previews & reviews written prior to release), and just couldn't keep their mouth shut. The Wottergate fiasco back with the release of Black & White is a perfect example of that. Serebii's source during that fiasco was Melkor, a Spanish Pokémon webmaster who just happens to work for the licensed Official Nintendo Magazine in Spain. He legitimately had access to early info through his work, and then distributed it in violation of his NDA (not that most of us actually knew about any of that until after the fact, with the apparent exception of Joe).
I'd just like to point out that Joe hasn't ever stolen information from Melkor. I dunno where you got this info from. The only thing Joe did was back up what Melkor released during B/W leaks and assured it's legitimacy, which got a lot of flack from Joe cause he was backing a rumor that most fans thought was fake.

Unpopular opinion time. My fav trainer is Lucas.

I'm with you bro. I never played Platinum but I do personally like his winter outfit, I guess because the scarf makes him look a little older and more distinguished. Gold and Black's male trainers are also good.

I still wonder why Nintendo has never partnered with some sort of clothing retailer to design actual pokemon-themed clothes. Some of this stuff with the pokeball logo on it would actually sell really well without looking too horribly tacky, I think.

Poké Balls are not always at full size. Pressing the button on the front will convert it between its full size, about the size of a baseball, to a smaller size, about that of a ping-pong ball, and back again. The larger size makes throwing the ball easier, while the smaller one makes for easier storage on a belt clip, in pockets, and in bags.

To clarify, I wasn't ever suggesting for a moment that Joe stole anything from Melkor. I was suggesting that he had gotten it from Melkor. As in legitimately, being given it by Melkor freely. Having said that, it does seem I was getting him mixed up with someone else there, most likely Jungle. Apart from that post correcting me earlier, I've also been reminded of the animosity that existed between Joe & Melkor at the time, so it would have been rather unusual for Joe to get something directly from Melkor if that had been the case.
