And like that, he's gone.
Yeah, looks like ESPN is letting us down again.Lebron resigning with the cavs would be even more odd than this story.
stop giving him ideas!"I made it up because I'm gay and if I came out no one would play with me and I'd never get drafted."
It's his only hope...
This shouldn't have become a big fucking deal to begin with. How many guys on that team or throughout this country have their grandmothers die while they're in college? What made him so special?
I remember rolling my eyes whenever an interviewer brought up the tragic death of his gf. I remember thinking that all of the sympathy should be going to the girl's family, not some guy that had an online relationship with her, and couldn't be bothered to go to her funeral.
I mean, she didn't exist, but this was then, you understand?
He's so smart he didn't think a live woman might find her own picture on the internet.

LOL
LOL
So glad this putz didn't win the Heisman.
They met on the football field after a game LOL
that is according to the initial story
ESPN reports scores, not news. LOL.
LOL how do you get tricked into thinking you have gf and she died.
OJ Simpson has vowed to find Manti Te'o's real girlfriend.
What's Manti Teo's GAF name?

BWAHAHAAH
What's Manti Teo's GAF name?
he made up his girlfriend and pretended she diedCan someone explain the situation to those who dont follow football?
Guy makes up fake girlfriend, kills her off, uses her as a sob story while in the Heisman Trophy race. It's like a sitcom plot come to life. Can someone explain the situation to those who dont follow football?
oh shit:
Confirmed from 2 sources: ESPN has known about the Manti Te'o story for 10 days. Had been reporting it, but could not confirm.
If this is accurate how pissed is ESPN that Deadspin just scooped them?

I think that's the main theory right now.Has anyone theorized about him trying to cover up a homosexual relationship with Tuiasosopo? I'm not trying to be funny or disrespectful, but that wouldn't surprise me.

I have a long distance boyfriend who I met online and we talk on skype all the time but neither of us have webcams so it's no biggie. According to Te'o he and his 'girlfriend' talked on the phone every night which is basically the same thing as skype in that case.Again I ask.....
Why no Skype?
ESPN knew about this before the Championship game?

wait so it's okay for the media to withhold information to protect their interests (ratings) but if a school withholds information like Penn State...oh no you can't do that here's 4 years of sanctions!

I don't think it's okay but there's a world of difference between covering up a fake girlfriend story and child rape.

[speculation]so he's gay and this was the coverup[/speculation]
That photo hadn't appeared on the internetat least, not to Reba's knowledge. She had taken it in December 2012 and sent it directly to an old high school acquaintance. The two hadn't talked since graduation, but the classmate, whom Reba remembered fondly, contacted her on Facebook with a somewhat convoluted request: His cousin had been in a serious car accident, and he had seen her photos before and thought she was pretty. Would she be so kind as to take a picture of herself holding up a sign reading "MSMK," to put in a slideshow to support the cousin's recovery? (He didn't explain what MSMK meant, and Reba still doesn't know.) Baffled but trusting, Reba made the sign and sent along the photo.
And now here it was on a dead girl's Twitter profile. After googling Lennay Kekua's name, Reba began to piece things together. She called up the classmate. He expressed alarm, Reba told us later, and "immediately began acting weird." "Don't worry about it," he told her. Moments after the phone call, Reba's picture was removed from the @LoveMSMK Twitter profile. Then, in a series of lengthy phone calls, Reba told us everything she knew about the classmate, a star high school quarterback turned religious musician named Ronaiah Tuiasosopo.
It usually takes ESPN a few days before they start coming down hard on athletes. Remember how long it took them to really start reporting the Tiger Woods situation?

The NCAA should sanction ESPN. No postseason for them for 4 years.

I think that it's more about them covering their own asses before blowing the lid off the craziest sports story in decades.wait so it's okay for the media to withhold information to protect their interests (ratings) but if a school withholds information like Penn State...oh no you can't do that here's 4 years of sanctions!
