He's talented enough that some team will take a chance on him. He may not be drafted but he'll get a chance with some NFL team. It's a moot point though since I seriously doubt he'd admit to being gay so close to the draft.
As sad as it is, no team would dare do this. Too many potential headaches - it would have the potential to absolutely DESTROY the locker room and fracture the team.

Tough call. No one would want him in the locker room. Let's be honest, there's a reason there's never been a pro athlete who was openly gay.
I am keeping perspective. The potential downsides are so severe, it's a gamble not worth taking for an NFL team. It's not hard to imagine.

Look at it like this, how many current athletes do you know that play male team sports and have admitted that they're gay? Athletes usually come out after they retire. They do that specifically because sports are very closed minded when it comes to sexuality.

While I agree he is incredibly overrated, with 250 or so draft picks, he gets picked at some point. Now if he's gay? I don't know.

I don't think anyone disagrees. The question is whether its so strong that no team would waste one of its last pick in the hope that if things worked out on the field, they'd have a good linebacker. Of it doesn't work you just cut him.

If he is a bargain in later rounds due to this someone will definitely take a chance. Suprisingly enough not all teams are the Jets or the Lions and some head coaches actually have their team in line behind them. If you think a team under guys like Mike Tomlin, the Harbaughs, Jeff Fisher, Sean Payton, Bill Belicheck, John Fox, or Mike Shannahan is going to have a divided locker room due to some homophobia you should reconsider.
C'mon Konex, you know as well as I do that Manti is overrated, but he's still one of the best LB prospects available in this year's draft class.

Dude, fucking Maurice Clarett was drafted, this is nothing.
He will be drafted, and probably in the first 3 rounds. No one is gonna care enough about this story to let him go to a good team. I think the BCS game did far more to kill his draft status than this, because he looks like he just doesn't have the size or strength to deal with NFL linemen. PEACE.

My point was that IF he didn't get drafted, it wouldn't be because of his sexuality (if he was gay). This fuckery and the coming media storm is way worse than any imagined lockeroom issues with having a gay player.

True but that won't stop a coach from drafting him, it will only cause his lockerroom and team to reject him, resulting in them 'not making the team' before the season. FSS that's sad.

Is there any other case of a linebacker winning as many awards as Manti and then missing out on the draft? He was also runner up for the Heisman. There's no way that he shouldn't be drafted.

There doesn't have to be a logical relationship between the two. Manti could have put his sister on the phone as the "girlfriend" to lend credibility to the hoax. Some members of the family (his brother, for one) were certainly involved.

I was just responding to a hypothetical. He has the talent to get drafted but this episode is a huge red flag about his character and/or mental state that teams will be leery of.
He'd have to be actually decent enough to earn play time. No one would care about a gay baller who rides the oak.
People are trying to find a rational reason why someone would do this, and this is the only theory so far
