Well there is also the chance that after whatever catastrophe in the future Pokémon might exist due to mutation and people really go on journey's after there is no war and nothing anymore, who knows!

White tree is long but you'll be rewarded by a shiny pokemon -theone in white 2 version is AWESOME- so don't hesitate
EDIT: you need to go to the first gym before you can start the White tree.

Well you still have a chance to do it with the "Repeating Universe" theory, go to the far future and get a copy of X and Y, then go so far into the future with them so the universe collapses and recreates itself and stop right at this date again in new 2013!

I need clarification. I was always under the assumption that you'll be able to customize your trainer thanks to trailer footage showing the pink girl different from the main female trainer shown running alongside a male trainer, but I don't see that being confirmed floating around.

Since Diamond and Pearl you'll occasionally team up with trainers in a few dungeon areas. They'll follow you around and all battles with be 2v2 tag battles, unless you run into another trainer solo.
The video was probably showing one of these instances instead of co-op.

Some people are assuming that there'll be customization because the glasses on the main male trainer are separate from his main model, and even glitch out and are left behind at one point of the trailer. That female trailer in the video you're mentioning is likely just an NPC for a double battles segment, not a customized human player.
