I just do not understand the "Teo was a victim of a hoax" thing. If it was a hoax, why would he not call it out immediately? Wtf.

So if it was a hoax played on him, he clearly played along with it to give himself more attention and recognition. So either way, he is at fault...right?


But now that Cardinals FB says she was real...fuck this shit, my head hurts.
 
I'd just love to know the timeline of when Mauia called the press to unveil this latest twist. Was it before the press conference? After?

Of course, I'm assuming he's the one who called. I'm going to guess that reporters aren't just randomly calling all the football players in the world seeing if they know about the dead fake girlfriend.

Swarbrick said Te'o got a call when he was in Orlando for a college football awards show, which was Dec. 6, from a number he knew to be Kekua. The voice on the other end was the one he knew as Kekua, Swarbrick said, and the person on the other end who Te'o had known to be his girlfriend, who he thought died in September, told Te'o she was not dead.
"Manti was very unnerved by that, as you might imagine," Swarbrick said.
That night Te’o won three awards – the Bednarik Award for top defensive player, the Walter Camp Foundation player of the year award and the Maxwell Award, given to the top player in the nation.
Swarbrick said the woman tried to restart the relationship after that phone call.
Te'o called Notre Dame's coaches early in the morning on Dec. 26 to tell them what happened, Swarbrick said. That's when the university started looking into the matter including two meetings between Swarbrick and Te'o, the first of which lasted an hour and 45 minutes. Swarbrick said he was comfortable with the consistencies in Te'o's story. Swarbrick said Notre Dame hired private investigators to look into the hoax.

Swarbrick was asked if he thought Te'o bringing attention to the story was disingenuous at all. He went back to Te'o's caring personality.

As someone who has followed Irish football for twenty years I hope he burns if it turns out that he was involved (how can he not be?) in anyway.

It's so strange that there was nothing reported about this being a long distance relationship when Manti began to ascend into the public eye two years ago. Regardless, it's a pathetic situation that only a moron would have to agree to be apart of. I wouldn't have him on my team (Ravens) if he were there for the taking on day two of the draft. This shit is that crazy. How could you trust someone who could do something like this?

ESPN will no doubt invite him and his family to have a table at the draft in April because they are absolute scum that will do anything for viewers. He'll decline, but that won't stop them from mentioning his name every other commercial break.

Actually, ESPN/the NFL invites everyone who is projected to be a potential first round pick to the draft...

edit: which, at this rate, might not include Te'o.
 
Remember that story of the mom who created a fake boy and had an online relationship with a girl next door, then proceeded to break her heart, causing her to kill herself.
