Anyone who thinks that the new Xbox, will not at least have "Xbox" as part of it's name, is just not thinking clearly.

"Xbox" is as much of a Microsoft brand, as "Playstation" is for Sony.

It will either have some number after the name, or some word, such as Xbox "Infinity".

But rest assured...it will say Xbox in one way or another.

I could only see them going with GPUs that weak if it was an APU+Discrete GPU combo. Maybe those are in devkits while waiting for final silicon?

I'm pretty sure proelite doesn't know anything and is basing his statements on stuff we have heard already heard. He just says it with confidence to make it look like he got sources. I even think he admitted once that he doesn't actually have sources.

As for everyone else, who knows how reliable their sources are. Maybe they only gave them some general knowledge as to not risk breaching NDA. Maybe it's from dev kits or what they think MS/Sony is aiming for but who's to say those companies have not made changes and not reveal final specs yet.

I have a feeling we will know one of the consoles by end of February at the latest which seems far away when everyday you're hunting for news.

So thanks to a member here, I got to see this vid, that alleges it contains leaked assets from the next UFC game. To me the following look like high poly mesh and not usable in game. If it's next gen, I assume the overall fidelity despite the drop in polygon number would remain largely similar (minus IQ)?

There are people on this board that have far more information than me, and are currently working on 'cracking' the code. This is a 100% truth. Don't be surprised when you see a major news outlet blow the specs out the water in the coming days.

I actually don't think those faces look that good. I think it's the skin texture. It's pretty flat. The actual details on the faces are quality but they look like wax figures or something.

I'm more impressed by the detail in the expressions than anything else. All the wrinkles etc very authentic.

And I will attest to that fact. What surprised me is your apparent lack of dissatisfaction when faced with the truth of theoretical performance figures that didn't reach your expectation. Now that could either be because you just swallowed your pride and move on or the hardware's practical results have met your standards which you thought earlier would have been absolutely impossible without a 2.5-3TF+ console. I would hope it's close to the latter.

Those parts look great, I agree. It's kind of the same reaction I had to LA Noire. The expressions were great but the head's themselves looked so fake it undermined the whole thing.

Just weeks ago you were speculating on console power. Saying you would be disappointed if consoles didn't reach 3TF+

These new system announcements seem to sometimes coincide with financial reports...Microsoft and Sony's are coming up soon, though I suppose they could wait until Q1 results of the calendar year.

What's wrong with 192GB/s, it's in line with 256bit GDDR5, isn't it?
I don't think it can be compared that way, because the eSRAM would have an amazingly low latency, a huge number of banks, granularity, and it could do read-modify-write like crazy. It's clearly superior regardless of bandwidth. I would guess the bandwidth cited is simply the maximum that the GPU can do. (if it's the real number)

Blitter seems very real (as expected) and ESRAM sounds nice...

Yep. The one thing everybody pretends to not care about, is really the one thing everybody cares about.

I just wish this industry would grow up and admit it.

The Wii U should be a huge lesson to everybody how important graphics are.

That said, at this stage I'm pretty comfortable saying Durango/Orbis seems in the same ballpark. Once we get closer to release we will be able to hash it out farther, but for now we cant.

Well lets think about it this way.
EPIC does have some issues with their engine. And they are not in a vacuum. My hope is that they have fixed their texture issue(as noted elsewhere) because, unlike many, I like their engine. It will be super exciting to see these engines in their next incarnation.
And I don't mean an effect demo reel. Unlike others I am NEVER impressed by a demo of any kind for an engine. Not sure why. Its the games, and their overall feel and tone that gets me.

Asked the owner of the company i have my internship with.
What he knew about hardware called a blitter which shovels around memory without the cpu getting involved to do it. He said something about a DMA engine that did the same thing in dem olden days. Then he got all nostalgia how they had like one of the few schools that had a 8 core machine he is a old parallel programmer teacher and now has his own computer vision company. And how it is a shame how we CS student don't have any choices for high performance computing.
