Lance Armstrong plans to admit doping to Oprah (USA Today)

If everyone was doping, does that mean he was still the best?

Yeah. Just like steroids in baseball don't automatically make you a stud.

I don't blame him for doping, but I care more about him being a dick and aggressively pursuing his accusers.

Lance, you doped. Your performance was based on doping. You expected others to match your performances. The only way possible to do that was through doping. It is implicit pressure.

Is there any statue of limitations or similar that let's him off the hook or to compete again because he's stating the last time he did any doping was over seven years ago? Is that part of his motivation here? He seemed very adamant about 2005 being the last year he cheated.

And to say he was the best of the cheaters means jack shit.

Man i cant believe he's still lying. So obvious too.

I feel like you all aren't watching the same interview

"Yeah, its pretty much semantics"

"Yeah I doped"

"Yeah I was a bully"

"I would do anything to win"

I mean damn, he is outright labeling himself a douche. Some of yall gotta learn to take yes for an answer.

I loved how he was trying to blame his diagnosis for his behaviour.

"But you were doping beforehand".

O____o

Only watched the first 15 (saving it for tomorrow morning) but I agree. We know he's a cheat, we know he lied, he's the guy admitting that in this interview.

Not to say give the guy a break, but can we at least listen to his side of the admittance before jumping all over his every sentence or tiny bit of body language?

if this is just about him using banned substances than this is a real waste of money to convince the remaining airheads who were denying logic

Well, he is admitting to being a cheater, a motivator to others to cheat, a liar, a bully, and telling how they cheated and some methods used.

I'm not sure what else of interest to anyone Lance Armstrong could say. His wins are meaningless, surely you wouldn't tune in to hear him talk about the sport... He cheated, who cares about what he 'achieved'. Tell us how you are a liar and cheater, lol thats all anyone wants to hear from him. Dude has been a total ass for years considering this. I wanna see him breakdown, or come close to it, or shame himself, he has ruined lives.

This. He, almost inarguably, is a singular talent when it comes to cycling.
I don't know how anybody can know that.
It's possible, but it's also possible that he had better chemists than anyone else, and personally, I think that's more likely than him being a super genetic freak (over the general genetic freakness one need in order to compete in the tour on any level).

Yeah they give him the opertunity to come 100% clean and MAYBE win back a few hearts and he still keeps lying. Sad idiot

What is he lying about now? Serious question because considering that we had to wait for this admittance before perceiving it as an absolute fact I want to know what information we're comparing his answers to.

Are you watching the interview? Dude is squirming like hell, his answers can barely make it through his teeth they're grinding so hard. He is obviously fighting the toughest battle of his life... desperate to justify his actions, yet trying to follow his lawyers and handlers advice to gain our sympathy. It's all over his face.

It is very much arguable.

How do you win 7 times? I'm not a fan or anything, I don't really care, but if everyone was doping...?

He's admitting to things he feels he has no choice but to admit to whilst still lying about the rest. It's all calculated to avoid as much damage as possible. So yes he's saying he's a dick, but the guy is such a monumental dick that owning up to being a dick doesn't come close to covering it.

In a year or two people will forget this ever happened and Lance will be chilling with his millions. Society loves to jump on the next big story and forget anything that happened before it.

If you had a chance to make millions and all you had to deal with was a bunch of people judging your actions that you don't even know after you get caught would you?

"I never said 'you have to dope if you want to be on this team', I said 'if you can't perform *physical feats impossible to achieve clean* you'll be off the team'"

Seriously what is the fucking difference?

Chances are after this mess, he's not gonna have millions to lay around with.

I think his name will become synonymous with cheating, though. Kind of like how Chris Brown's is associated with punching women in the face. He's still famous, but he'll never live that down.

Not to say I disagree with you (I haven't seen more than 15 early mins) but this is a really weak way to vehemently accuse someone of dishonesty in such a situation. Like...he's nervous, no shit!

Oh wow, his words and body language on the 2005 tape are almost the exact same as now "you're going to find this hard to believe..."

He definitely appeared to be lying about doping in 2009 and 2010.

Seems to me he's trying to say "See? When I doped like everyone else I was better than everybody else. But when I tried to do it clean I wasn't the best."

Chances are after this mess, he's not gonna have millions to lay around with.

Can anyone explain this to me? Does he have to give back the winnings he got from winning the races?

I still think he made a shit ton off Nike and other sponsorship. Unless he blew all of his money already.

Damn, Oprah bringing out the video...

I think she got him really good on the Ferrari question.

"Was he the leader (or main influence) of the doping ring?"

He literally couldn't come up with a good answer other than his "I'm not here to talk about other people" BS.

Can anyone explain this to me? Does he have to give back the winnings he got from winning the races?

I'd think that numerous organizations are gonna go after him wanting some sort of reparations.

Think of it like this: If you win a race, win a few million dollars, and it's found out later that you cheated to win, don't you think those people who set up the race would want their money back?

the tick seems to be him putting his tongue into his cheek, not his eyebrows jumping around

They are getting to that now. Again the interview is supposedly two days long, we are only like 15m in.

i know, but i don't care about the substances.

He's getting sued by everybody. Including the underwriters who insure prize money.

He is not 100% honest, he is avoiding questions and about his coach, just flat out lying, then avoiding to talk about him.. thats to me is not a 100%honest person talking and trying to come 100% clean.
