So, I thought the bowling thing would be archived, but it isn't... and there was something else today?

Is there anyway to watch this stuff now after the fact?

I just had to wipe a lot of Mountain Dew off of my screen. Thanks, Jeff. I was not prepared to laugh that hard.

Ah, the Friday stream is up.

I wonder though, and I guess the only people who would get this reference are people who listed to Future US' podcasts, but when did Andy Bauman leave Future and move to CBSi? When they mentioned him during the making of GOTY videos, I just assumed it was a temporary gig or something.

Then again, I haven't listened to the OXM podcast ever since everyone left, so I haven't been keeping up.

I love Castlevania: LoS but that was possibly the worst section in the entire game. That section is really bad about telling the player what to do.

Also Drew is crazy.

Who do they hate Castlevania LoS? Fantastic game. Thanks Vinny!
It's pure bandwagon hate. None of them really played it. Alex played it for a bit for the QL but didn't like it and the others just adopted his opinion of the game.

Heh, theres a lot to remember especially after a while so I can't blame him. Surprised Vinny didn't beat it. So good.
Yep, I was hoping he'd finish it. I'm sure Vinny's opinion of the game would be even more enthusiastic if he had played further.

Yep, I was hoping he'd play through. I'm sure Vinny's opinion of the game would be even more enthusiastic if he had completed the game.

Patrick said he played 3 hours and I think Brad said he played 4. That's still early tutorial stuff. They have no idea how long the game is. Pretty sad they hate it so much cuz Tricky would like the amount of monster lore in the game and Brad would appreciate the insane amount of moves you can unlock. The game also constantly changes up the locations so its always fresh.

Reminds me of Gaffers who said they never beat Chapter 2 and say the game's bad. The game didn't even start yet.

I remember Alex saying you can mash your way through the whole game in the QL. No you cannot especially for later chapters.

Wow, I figured it was like an eight hour game...

Watching it right now...

Their ignorance towards this game is really baffling. And on top of that, Patrick (of course) spouts a few falsehoods about the game's ending, DLC and the sequel. No Patrick, the real ending is not in the DLC. And we don't know yet exactly which time period the sequel will be set in. Given that the awesome first trailer for LOS2 showed no modern times at all but some steampunkish medieval battle, I bet it's not all modern times.

Yeah, and Brad didn't find it "whippy" enough at the time which makes me question whether he played it at all (edit: just checked, he beat the first boss... that's not "4 hours", that's about one hour in.).

Too bad Vinny jumped into this game with having forgotten about the controls, moves etc. Can't really blame him for the poor performance since the game has quite a lot going on move-wise. I still wish he'd finish it.

Instead, the show would probably be made better if they played games where the majority of the audience either doesn't know how the game is played or doesn't care. Too Human is a pretty good pick for that.

I love how Unprofessional Fridays is basically Show and Tell for Giant Bomb. They should have done this from the start.

Unprofessional Friday should become a new fixture.

Good shit, good shit.
Does kind of seem like it's becoming a feature, at least for weeks when they don't have a lot going on. I'm pumped.

I am so sad we didn't get further in Castlevania: LOS. IT'S ALL MY FAULT. That game is pretty fun. Next week the wall comes down...

Patrick and Brad should give Castlevania another shot. Theres a lot more to the game than the early werewolf stuff. Stuff gets pretty crazy when the vampires come into play and you actually go to the castle. The castle is like right after that graveyard section iirc.

I dont really blame Vinny for not remembering the controls, I imagine it has been two years since he last played it.

I wouldn't mind if each staffer plays something they're really good at. I don't really want to watch Brad play SC2 but I'm sure other people would. I want to see how good they can be if they really dig in deep. I don't know what games the others are great at, NFL Blitz for Jeff?

Also I expect Brad to give Rising a 4/5.

I don't think that would change their opinion. At this point I'm sure they want to hate it. There's no way they'd admit they didn't know much about the game and therefore misjudged it.

They pretty much said they were hyperbolising.

You know, for humour.

Not really. Jumping to quick conclusions regarding a game after very little play time is becoming one of their biggest downfalls. Edit - Remove Vinny from that statement. I find him to be the most open minded.

Not surprised about Patrick. He is guilty of spouting falsehoods (as you put it) as fact when it is obvious to the informed reader that he is clearly wrong. Once in a while is no biggie, but it happens quite a lot these days.

In defense of Vinny, I found Lords of Shadow completely incomprehensible to play after I took a break and tried to come back. I really enjoyed the game going through it, but I don't know that I'll ever try to play it again. I also vaguely remember not enjoying that particular room.

They'd still have to talk/respond to banter/generally be entertaining. So unless your idea of a good feature is abject silence, you'll never see them at their best.

If you wanna see people being 'good' at video games, watch one of the thousands of speedrun or competative live streams. But you probably won't because they're mostly boring as fuck.

No, I think it sounds like a really interesting idea and it'd be fun and cool.

Siglemic is pretty fun to watch.

We don't want to see them at their best. We want to see them try to be at their best while getting fucked with and competing against each other.

See who can beat Jeff as Blitz.
See who can outscore Brad at Geometry Wars
etc.

IMO this setup with all the guys there only really works if they're all playing multiplayer, or if the game is really bad. There's basically no way to play 'for real' with three other people heckling/talking.

I'd much prefer something like Breaking Brad or another Endurance Run where they're actually playing something, not just dabbling in different games or making fun of them.

I'm the last person who would hate on Patrick, but it does seem like he often encourages or epitomizes the groups collective shrug on a game. Apparently he gave up on Hitman Absolution after the tutorial and the rest of the group sans Alex either didn't play at all or didn't get much farther. I was looking forward to hearing them discuss that game after it came out, but it seems to have been an example like Castlevania. Misunderstood, underplayed, and collectively swept under the rug.

Jeff losing every single game during the Blitz TNT is secretly one of the funniest things that has ever happened on GB.

Not surprised. Absolution has flaws, but judging a game on a tutorial is madness. I don't know what is worse. That, or following someone's advice and not playing it /writing it off due to that specific feedback.

I don't expect the guys to play every game, or enjoy every game but they are a videogame site so I expect constructive feedback on titles based upon playing the actual game. If proper feedback (positive & negative) can't be formed then don't even mention it.

Agreed, I stopped the video after the initial flurry of undeserved hate to LoS. There is skepticism and then there is cynicism, both are very different, yet the collective group was reaching to justify being on either side...poorly.

Stay positive Vinny, the game is a constant stream of monster lore's greatest hits, each level introducing something new and unique to the mix.

Jeff's "what are you up to?" during drew's pdf bit is the funniest thing I've seen on gb since drew's impersonation of jr isodore saying "upstairs is where I grow all my fans" in the blade runner random pc game video. Replayed it a bunch of times and it's still hilarious.

Haven't watched it yet, but I'm guessing you guys are again overhyping their negativity on this lords of shadows game.
Vinny kept the hate in check and Patrick reneged on it being bad. Just "incredibly mediocre".

Didn't help that Vinny forgot all the controls and showed off a shit arena you move on from in 2 minutes for about 10 minutes instead of some cool shit. :lol
