Great list, and a great presentation and job done by timetokill and Cheesemeister. Also happy to see one of my comments made the cut.

Wow well done Journey, very well deserved.

Surprised to see ME3 make the top ten given everything.

Anyhow, a shout out to timetokill and Cheesemeister for their hard work. Cheers guys!

Congrats Journey, deserved winner. Binary Domain nearly made the top 20 :(

108. [360][PS3][PC] Transformers: Fall of Cybertron (Shooter) = 20 points

Ouch. Hey, I did what I could.

Good folk:

1. BroBuzz (88)
2. wouwie (86)
3. tusken77 (85)
4. so1337 (84)
5. Wario64 (82)
6. firehawk12 (81)
7. lazybones18 (79)
8. vladdamad (77)
9. AleeN634 (75)
10. darkside31337 (74)

i recognize wario64 and firehawk12, though the others must be good people i just don't know yet.

Ha, Katawa Shoujo had a good showing. You perverted bastards.
I would have moved it up my list if I had played the Rin route before voting...or remembered to change it. Whatever
Shame Analogue didn't get much support. Oh well. It was an early release and it's not going to stick in people minds like "the game where you date cripple girls."

I didn't expect journey to take it, I thought The Walking Dead would have had a comfortable lead followed by XCOM. Ah, well, XCOM at third is amazing for a turn based strategy game.

Of note, I see that Xenoblade Chronicles gets two top 15 spots in a row for both 2011 and 2012. Makes you wonder how it would have done with a global release.

And since everyone else is posting theirs, here's my affinities:
1. Nakayumi (68)
1. Shaffield (68)
3. BroBuzz (66)
4. zashga (65)
5. Jintor (63)
5. Regulus Tera (63)
7. Morgan Freeman (62)
8. O.DOGG (61)
8. Valygar (61)
10. A Link to the Snitch (58)
Three ties. In a top ten list. That's pretty unlikely. Fun, though.

Perfect that Journey is No. 1. My GoTY of 2012.

Really out of touch with modern gaming. Only played one of the other top 9 (Kid Icarus)....and no interest in reslly playing them. Would like Hotline Miami to vone to consoles, though.

Wow, that was a lot of work. Well done, guys.

A shame my clear number one didn't make the long list, but, hey, the Internet. History will be kind to it.

Interesting publisher data -- Sony and Nintendo were "ranked" the number one and number two publisher, respectively, despite having what most would consider a very lackluster year.

Its my GOTY and I actually didn't expect it to be in the Top 100 much less the Top 50. Guess, word of mouth helped a lot.

I thought Walking Dead would have taken it since so many people couldn't play Journey an exclusive, but I agree, it was a stellar game!

I'm glad P4G and ZE:VLR are on the top 15.

55. [PC] Crusader Kings II (Strategy) = 66 points, 3 honorable mentions
59. [PC] Legend of Grimrock (RPG) = 61 points, 6 honorable mentions
86. [360][PS3] Dead or Alive 5 (Fighting) = 31 points, 3 honorable mentions

Deserve better imo, but decent list all around.

Thanks for the hard work!
Not very surprising results, though.

Some good people:

I can only really disagree on ME3 and maybe KI, but that's just me. Gravity Rush, P4G and VLR placing is good enough for me.

Once again I find myself wondering why I haven't played Journey yet. Great job on all these crazy, crazy figures.

To my utter unsuprise, I feature on zilch, zip and zero affinity lists. Also the master results list is missing Takkoman, not that anyone other than me voted for it.

The real beauty of Journey winning is that, if you look at the tally trajectory, it was second place for about half of the thread. That's the Journey way - persevering and triumphing over adversity.

Looks like my backlog just got a bit backloggier, by about a half dozen games ;p

Good job, GAF. There were some real surprises this year.

obligatory hivemind metrics:

1. Sidzed2 (93)
2. SillyEskimo (83)
3. Mizzou Gaming (81)
3. persongr (81)
5. cr_blah_blah (80)
6. Loch Doun (79)
6. Vire (79)
8. MarauderShields (77)
9. golem (76)
10. MormaPope (75)

Isn't The Walking Dead handheld game of the year? It seems like the category is handheld / mobile and it's included in the sub-categories below.

All in all, that's a pretty solid list. 'Twas a good year for games.

No major surprises. Though I thought Sleeping Dogs would do well, I didn't think top five well. That's cool. Also thought Catherine would have had a bit of a stronger showing for the 2011 vote, for whatever reason.

1. BubblegumCrisis (97)
2. Augemitbutter (93)
3. Zefah (77)
4. Aphallatosis (71)
5. Pookmunki (69)
6. Yuterald (67)
7. Riposte (62)
8. Tain (59)
9. theDeeDubs (57)
9. zkylon (57)

And y'all are cool. As is everyone who voted for Analogue. All, uh, four of you.

Only one of my top games got in the top ten (The Walking Dead) but that serves me right for only playing eight new games in 2012, I suppose.

Sonic & All-Stars Racing wasn't ever going to beat Forza Horizon to racing game of the year. Shame.

I didn't vote as I didn't finish too many games last year but journey was my game of the year.

How many ps3 exclusives have won the gaf game of the year in gen 7 btw?

1. Semblance (86)
2. Yuterald (83)
3. Dambrosi (64)
4. Saiyar (63)
5. Pie and Beans (61)
6. Tain (60)
7. 18-Volt (59)
7. Pookmunki (59)
9. darkside31337 (58)
10. djtiesto (57)

That particular list is for handheld/mobile exclusive games. I modified that section's title to be more accurate. Thanks :)

2012 - Journey
2009 - Uncharted 2
2008 - Metal Gear Solid 4

Oh I should probably comment on the top 20. Well I'd love to act angry and such but it seems like a fairly standard list. You got most of the big hits there and a few small surprises. Good to see Hotline Miami get that much recognition.

jesus christ, so much data.

Congratulations to those responsible for putting this together, really cool to see it all come to something.
