It's insane how browsers in 2013 have so much trouble handling animated GIFs, a format that has been around since 1989.

I've been developing a WinRT (Microsoft tablet app API) app in my free time recently and you know what? The thing doesn't support animated GIFs at all. From what I've read, you either have to present them in a WebView (which isn't available in all scenarios), or use some pretty heavy workarounds.

Now that's crazy. :|
