VGLeaks Durango specs: x64 8-core CPU @1.6GHz, 8GB DDR3 + 32MB ESRAM, 50GB 6x BD...

Man, people will believe anything with a diagram of boxes with arrows. You guys are actually buying this horse shit with separate North Bridge/South Bridge in this day and age? Actually, never mind, everyone on the hype train, choo choooo! CRYSIS 4 AT 1080p max here we come!

ummm how else will you have it? They are integrated into the same soc but the blocks still need to be there in the diagram...

i too, would like to know whether or not the whole APU(aka CPU with a built-in GPU) + dedicated GPU thing is still a go for PS4.

if the detailed specs for Orbis aren't posted tomorrow like the Durango ones were today, i am going to disable my internet and hide in my office's technology closet for the entirety of the work day.

you can go and do that, because they will not reveal everything.

MS better hope that Kinect actually works this time or else the whole strategy will backfire. Finer resolution is expect, but it better interpret action and intentions much better as well.

MS better have some way to move in 3D environments as well.

Pfffffft if you wanna talk about filthy lies... YOUR SUBMARINE IS FUCKING RED!

Yeah I probably should get some sleep.

That's a valid point, I think MS needs to knock whatever services they're planning out of the park. It better be stuff we haven't seen before.

I don't believe that they can offer services like netflix and youtube behind a paywall, when you can use those services on $50 streaming boxes or anyone's cellphone, it's not a value add. They need more than that.

I totally agree with this. PSN has almost caught up with Live and right now the the 360 is a much worse value proposition because it (and blu ray). With a fresh start next gen I can see gamers migrating to the PS4 because of it.

-edit

MS better have some way to move in 3D environments as well.

It looks like Kinect 2.0 will have much better bandwidth due to a special port. Kinect 1.0 was hampered by USB.

I'm assuming that based on Vita's track record. It's a reasonable assumption since the Vita was Kaz's baby and the PS4 will be as well. Sony started off dreadfully with the PS3, but they seem to consistently be improving by learning from their mistakes.

The Vita shows Sony is improving and learning from their mistakes?

You serious?

llhere? Are there others that we know of? I trust Llhere as I see he is tagged MR. Accurate :P

The closer the people are to actual projects, the quieter they are. For example, I would speculate that GopherD himself may have substantial insider information. However, I do not know if he is a developer and just subtly alluded to it just now. Unlike Thuway, Proelite and Karak, GopherD seldom comments about specifications and his few posts are not only quite pertinent yet carefully vague but also carry weight as evidenced when other members who quote his posts as a part of continuing speculations. I doubt we shall hear anything official from people who are coding for either platform for a very long time.

Well you kept saying you were preparing a post with info from a contact at MS no?

Ya and it was confusing as shit. The only thing I really got was some impression that they are still aiming to have core games come up. As I said in the other thread. It could have been about this stuff, it could have been about something else. The person I talk to is NOT a technical person. That's why usually I post stuff like the HDMI passthrough or dates and shit. Very occasionally I get technical stuff. If I can't understand it. I am not going to post it.

Then again supposedly I am talking to a crazy person. So I am just as lost as everyone else on much of the stuff.

The closer the people are to actual projects, the quieter they are.

Yep. Very few actual insiders are talking.

Start of every generation brings a host of people who claim to be insiders and talk a lot, but don't deliver anything more than a wink and a nudge... because they can't.

There are some members (won't name them) that know a lot, but haven't said anything. That tells you a lot.

WTF are people arguing about. The two consoles are going to graphically similar just like the previous gen. So what is the argument? And lol at third parties siding with MS nonsense. Sony is too huge a brand if not bigger than MS in the gaming business for any third party to side with MS or vice versa.

He's talking about from a hardware and OS design perspective, and in that regard they did pretty much everything right. It's a slick and powerful piece of equipment at a low cost. No one seriously thought they'd be able to pull off a $250 price point before E3, let alone not selling it at a loss.

Gamers are holding out for a Xbox/PS2 generation.

If I have posted a bunch about SPECS...that is pretty new to me to be honest. Other than guesses or a nod nudge I don't know specs. Have been saying that since day one.

Seriously! I was beginning to wonder...

It's alright :)

You were spot on about new stuff leaking right after CES.

Honest question - maybe I'm being dumb, but what is that suppose to tell us?

that you should NOT trust everything you hear from these "insiders" that do talk. For them it's more "hear - say". But those that do have first hand knowledge, can't and will not say.

EDIT: not saying that there isn't (some) truth to what these guys say

Wow...Sopwith Camel defense force on GAF, this is surreal.
Bravo sir...Bravo...this is the weirdest moment I have had on GAF thanks to you...

Just letting you know that admitting that the Camel does not stand a chance against fighters made 100 years later doesn't take anything away from it

Well someone on here has to have the Camels back. Sorry if I got the hump, but thats the way it is (oh I should really be hanged for that joke)

I have always loved that plane from childhood, only more after playing the old Microprose title Knights of the Sky.

As for modern planes vs old, you only have to go back a decade, let alone a century. A friend of mine is an RAF pilot flying Eurofighters. A couple of years ago he was in a mock dogfight with 2 F-15's. He came out on top even though the F-15 was one hell of a fighter for its time (and he was outnumbered 2vs1)

Is there a reason for this attitude? I said that I was reassured about CORE games. Because that was one of my questions. Do my posts bother you that much?

I know but I am getting a bit miffed. As someone who felt they were lucky enough to maybe know a bit of data I feel I have been pretty damn guarded unless I have been told something. I mean I may have slipped up but jezuz.
As with everyone else I am just very excited about these systems and especially things like the HDMI passthrough. Its just passing on data.

I'm sorry if it came out wrong I didn't mean to make fun of you or anything.

I just took the opportunity to joke on how they haven't pushed many AAA exclusives lately and how they seem to be pushing more on apps and shit...

I don't see the connection. Other poster not commenting doesn't invalidate another posters validity.

For the record I take everything said with a grain of salt. Unless I want to believe it. ;p

The people who do know can't talk, have NDAs and like their jobs.

Keep that in mind when reading threads like this. And it might not be a bad idea to temper expectations, especially when you see boxes marked "magic component".

That this forum, much like all others, is a place for speculation. Being on Neogaf, a place where there are many developers, does not make you privy to more specific information. And while it does not exactly translate, the phrase, "Caveat Emptor" applies in that you alone responsible for being deceived/beguiled. Be careful of the posts that make claims of exceptional knowledge for they may be accurate or accidentally or deliberately inaccurate.

Ok thanks for clearing it up. I appreciate it. I rarely have stuff so when I do its exciting to be involved and when the person was right a couple times it was great to offer something to the discussion.

I see a lot of people say they know exact things. I think I have only known a couple and haven't been as cool as other peoples information for sure:)

I will say one thing. I constantly question what I am told. Probably moreso than most.

Now that the specs on both consoles are out. Now comes my favorite part...the GUI for the OS. I don't care about features so much as how it looks. I want GUIs with good UX design.

Even Digital Foundry? lol

Digital Foundry went with what they know and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that article. Eitherways lets say that DF's analysis is all there is to the next gen consoles and Orbis is indeed superior in graphics. How is going to matter much? It's not like third parties are going to ditch any one of the console makers. They will optimize it such that it runs fine on both. Even with difficult to code for systems like the PS3 most third parties have reached parity with a few exceptions. So there is nothing to argue about.

I wish James wasn't.

He's too good of a poster to resort to that.
I've only seen james and spongebob do this which is why i don't get you making it seem like so many are predicting a big difference in power, I wouldn't call going by eurogamer drinking kool-aid personally.

If that new patent and rumors are true PS4 UI is going to be drastically different and driven by touch. 720 will prob be designed around Kinect 2.0

...but people want to be right, so they get a self-esteem boost and feel good about themselves.

We're all kids in here.

I agree. In the end we may as well give the edge to PS4. The question is how much. With such a power gap, multiplats lead on PS4 and ported to XB3 wouldn't offer similar performance, which is different from this gen.

True. Don't mind me, I've been watching that Jonestown documentary again.

We gotta see the games before we can be sure. On paper Orbis looks better, but there's still a lot we don't know about the 720.

edit - I have reading comprehension issues.

I know gflops often don't mean much in practice, but isn't 13x8 GFLOPS rather good for a modern CPU? Looking here, a lot of top range CPUs can't crack 100 total.
