but my bro is allergic haha

maybe when i finally move out, TBD

Aw, that's a shame. There are quite a few options of hypoallergenic breeds though. Goldendoodles are a great pick if you're living with the family, but my favorite are Basenjis. Just look at that lil face ^^

If I ever get a place with a big yard, definitely going to adopt a Basenji and a Husky.

Same here deaf mutes. And since I hit 20 I'm super expensive now so I'm only getting one shift a week :/

My cat jumps down from wherever he's sleeping as soon as I'm home, and follows me into my room and meows and wants pets and everything. :v
Sorry Trin
gaaaaah its too cute ><

In Asia, sure. Not sure for Australia, but if you want to teach locally in the US a Master's is a must. And they don't even pay very well.

edit: Also, I'd prefer to teach Japanese, but I was just reading an article about how one of our local high schools had to cut its language program from seven languages to three. Although I'm lucky that Japanese is still riding the popularity wave among teenagers so it isn't likely to be cut any time soon, it still seems more viable to go into ESL. Lots of people wanting to come to the US from other places to learn English, and so ESL is booming compared to other areas of language teaching.

Yeah, I can see the same thing happening here. Apparently there's a bit of an over supply of Japanese teachers too, which is kind of depressing. I think its the most popular language here, but most schools are switching over to Chinese (which sadly isn't pulling students at all) since we only usually get one or two languages (seven sounds like heaven ;.;). Either way the pay is crappy and there's little room for career advancement. It's fun work though.

I kinda like the idea of teachers having a masters degree. I think teachers of high school students/ ESL adults in particular should have a high level of education. It would be nice if that higher level of study yielded higher pay though. Especially since teachers do some of the most vital work in a society :/

I honestly think I lowballed myself by not really negotiating for my pay and accepting the first offer. When a year comes around, I will definitely ask for a good raise. I'm willing to walk away if necessary.

I think talking about what you do is more interesting than dropping wage rates. What do you all do? I am a web programmer, been with the same university for almost 8 years now writing web applications. It's a great workplace but I'm feeling really stagnant in the job. I need something new.

I walked out of banking and became a domestic assistant to the elderly after being unemployed for a year, now I work with unaccompanied minor asylum seekers. Pay is much less, but I am much happier.

Soooooo, I haven't had my hair cut in a long time. It was bothering me, at least the dead ends, so I wanted to get it cut, around shoulder blade length. Couldn't afford it, so the husband said to let him do it. It was only about three inches I wanted off after all, should be fine right?

Oh my god you guys. It's around chin length and weird and....

I'll try to take a picture tomorrow. >.<

That sounds like a really interesting job DM. I'm very jealous.

The best part is you actually need no qualifications! Seriously, I have a cert IV but lots of people have just got the job based on interviews and interest. Contact Red Cross, they will have the details of the subcontractors that run programmes in QLD. http://www.redcross.org.au/community-detention-program.aspx

I'm now 29!! *blows out birthday candles*

... *is old*

Happy birthday, only 1 year until you are over the hill now.

*36 years old and still kicking*

Well, looks like the temperature is rising on Saturday. The snow was fun while it lasted. Back to rain, rain and more rain. To be honest, you can get quite sick of it after a couple of days. It's surprising how much a bit of snow cheers you up, and how quickly you become sick of it.

Yay, bought Far Cry 3!

Nay, way too much school work. :(

Haven't bought the game yet, but I am really interested in playing it. Not sure when I will get around to it though. I have pre-ordered 'Ni no Kuni' so I guess most of my time will be spent playing that. Such a beautiful looking game. You can tell a huge amount of work has gone into making it look as authentically Ghibli as possible.

It has been a long time since I first saw Ni no Kuni and I haven't kept up with the game since then. It looks pretty enough but I should look whether the gameplay or story appeals to me. And if I even can buy it here.

EDIT: Oh, not the right console, that makes things easy.

Happy bday Srg, January bdays > *

Nay, way too much school work. :(

I rented that from red box when it came out and while the opening was good and multiplayer was fun I had way to many games to play.

So since I'm working on my backlog (finished 5 games in a month :p) I'll pick up far cry 3 when it goes cheap.

I'm gonna miss sleeping in on Tuesdays and Thursdays, school starts next week :(

Well, I really like JRPGs. Unfortunately there hasn't been many good ones this generation. You know, the prospect of playing a next-gen Final Fantasy was a huge incentive in me buying a PS3. What a huge disappointment that was. According to some reviews, Ni no Kuni is a very good one though. And, well, I want to feel like I am running around in a Ghibli cartoon. :p

I haven't turned on my PS3 in ages. I wonder if it still works. :/

Damn son.

I simultaneously do and don't want to get a job right now. Things are weird.

Get a job and build that experience. Waiting too long puts you behind the curve. If you've got lots of quality experience behind you, you're always attractive to employers even in a depressed market. That alone is how I survived 3 layoffs while still providing for a family of 4.

Kitty luvs me.

Cant tell which is cuter, you or the cat.

I make $20/hour now, but I think things here cost more so it evens out.

They only pay so high because the risk of being taken down by a drop bear is equally as high. The AU government wants to ensure the citizens live a fulfilled, albeit short life.

Dave makes about as much in a 40 hour work week as I make in two months.

He makes more in a month than I make in a year!

He makes more in a year than I've made in my lifetime.

But I've also lived almost 20 years longer than all of you =P

Dave, you are even more attractive now ;)

I just moved into my new house. Unused basement.... just sayin.

I'm 29 in... 48 mins! Woo!

Wow, and I thought I was getting up there in salary @_@

I'm now 29!! *blows out birthday candles*

YOU! Happy Birthday good sir!

I just saw how much Dave makes an hr and I wanna say fuck my life! D:

If you saw how much they take in taxes, you'll not be so eager =P.

Seriously though everyone. It's a good income, I cant lie about that, but I'm the only working parent of 2 children living in a very high cost of living area where rent on a 2BR 1,000 sq foot apartment is going to run you about $2300/month. But my salary takes care of my mortgage, my truck, my wife's car, all the utilities, all the groceries, every incidental and on top of that, huge medical bills for my daughter. In the end, I'm just as broke as anyone else on here =). I still look at Day 1 $60 games and think "Damn, maybe when it goes on sale" =P
