it sounds like they paid what they felt volition were worth. saints row is apparently in development and was bought alongside volition because of that I'm understanding everything correctly.

as there were no red faction, punisher, descent: freespace or summoner titles in development, they weren't in the deal. this is based on my very limited understanding of the sale, I might and probably am wrong.

Yes, I was mostly making a joke about Ubisoft habit of delaying PC versions of games.

I guess it's not too surprising that Vigil wasn't picked up. They just released Darksiders 2, which would mean that a potential buyer would need to fully fund Darksiders 3. As for Warhammer Dark Millennium, that title has had a troubled development history, starting as an MMO, then turning into a non-MMO (Action-RPG?) title midway through development. And there's always the possibility that the breakup would mean that they'd lose the license.

Assuming that Vigil+Darksiders was only available as a package deal now, my guess is that potential buyers decided let Vigil close down, grab the Darksiders IP on the cheap later, and develop it in-house after identifying and hiring key members of the dev team.

As mentioned earlier, I think it's more likely that the bid was simply a safety net that would have saved the game in the event that others weren't interested. Otherwise, the project would have been canned.

You'd remember if you had, haha -- there's no escaping the giant "ACTION COMPLETED!" pop-up message. But, yeah, with the game scheduled for release in March, it must be nigh on complete, so I don't see anything changing unless Ubi announces a delay. That said, my guess is that since Ubi picked up the project on the cheap, it'll simply honour the publishing contract as-is and just let the game roll out the door with virtually no work on its own part.

I hope THQ can still find a buyer for Vigil Games. ZeniMax could buy them and form them togehter with id software, that are also located in Austin.
 
Lets do a Kickstarter to bid on Vigil. After we buy them, we can rename them to GAF Studios and put them to work on developing Shenmue 3.

In all seriousness, it sucks about Vigil, but some of these franchises seem to have ended up in capable hands.
 
Turtle Rock's game could be a good pick up for T2.

Little surprised Volition went to Koch Media. I'll be honest, I'd never heard the name before this morning, though I've certainly played some of the games their Deep Silver label has published.
 
So...South Park PC is going to be Uplay enabled and no longer Steamworks ?

I'm glad Koch media bought Metro and Volition (including Ips ?).
