Some of those are practically on the level of taking a picture of your neighborhood, slapping that paintstyle photoshop filter on it and calling it a day. Of course the .gif format isn't doing it any favors but I noticed this in the earlier screenshots posted as well.
I tried rewatching Macross F last year or so and I couldn't get past the first episode. The godawful CG was burning my eyes.

Funny enough, before my standards got too high / became part of AnimeGAF. I actually enjoyed the hell out of the show, and have some damn good memories of following the whole thing week-by-week! hell I didn't even mind Ranka that much; even though sheryl is clearly superior!
Tonight, I watched the first episode of Space Brothers, and several episodes later, I have to say I'm hooked now. I don't know how I've missed this up until tonight. It's one of those anime, like FLCL, that just.. feels good to watch.

Sorry, I don't understand what you're getting at. Are you saying it's bad because it looks too photorealistic or something? Maybe it's because I'm used to KyoAni's backgrounds, but the animated characters don't look out of place to me.

I watched it for the complete Yoko Kanno OST experience and Megumi Nakajima.
No these are uncharacteristicly ugly for modern Kyoani. It's not about photorealism either, just compare the indoor shots to the outdoor ones, the indoor shots have the same style and coherence with the character art, the outdoor ones look like average visual novel backgrounds.

To be honest, if you've been being humorous the whole time, I never picked up on it. It feels like you take everything personally and lash out at people. Even this post feels like you're trying to shame a couple of people who are disagreeing with you in some argument I haven't been paying attention to.
I know that's what you're saying. I'm trying to understand why you think that. I personally don't think they look like filtered pictures at all. There's the obvious fake depth-of-field blurring that they've been trying to do for the entire series, but other than that, it looks computer-painted like the rest of KyoAni's backgrounds (CG ones aside).
I take it personally when people respond with one word posts, or ad hominem attacks (so basically a lot of the time ITT)
