Three of those are collections...
His Gran Turismo listed included a public demo, a collector's edition and demos that were created for car manufacturers to show at car shows.

I can imagine the train wreck if he actually had to argue some of his points on camera. It would be this all over again.

That there's one singular guy that gets to divert resources to his whims is kinda relevant, sure, but it doesn't refute the larger point that collective dev teams don't seem to have any such liberties. It's not a healthy creative environment when only avenue to escape being chained to an existing franchise appears to be "get this one guy to act like your concept is his and maybe it might have a chance."
We all know quantic dream is working on an unannounced game for the next playstation. So i'm guessing that no matter their announcement you won't be surprised.Well, we knew Monolith was working on something (Elder Scrolls inspired?) and Yoshi kind of leaked through Miiverse. I give you Wind Waker. Am I missing something?

It does, doesn't it? When Ascension gameplay was first shown, I remember the primary response here on GAF was "Yep, looks like God of War"
It's true that they've developed a lot of new IP, yes. Now let's name the new IP they actually developed, promoted, and marketed as though they had the vaguest intention of crafting it into a success that could stand alongside or supplant their more common IP, rather than a one-and-done side experiment.
That's the difference here. When a Sony team wants to do a new IP, Sony gets behind it, they market the hell out of it, they spin up the hype machine, they treat it like an event. If Naughty Dog wants to abandon Jak and do a new series, if they want to abandon Uncharted and do Last of Us, Sony says go for it, we'll put everything we can behind it.
When a proven Nintendo team wants to make a new IP, we get Drill Dozer and Pushmo. Good games, sure, but they're clearly just side-diversions that Nintendo entertains inbetween putting the devs to work on the same ol' tentpole franchises they've always done. And it doesn't feel like even that is a thing that many teams at Nintendo have liberty to do. If the Zelda team wanted to take a break from Zelda and make a new IP, could they? If EAD Tokyo said they didn't want to do Mario and instead wanted a similar budget to do some new IP they had in mind, would they not be laughed out of the room? It definitely doesn't feel that way.
You have the occasional aberration like Xenoblade, but even that proves the point. I doubt Monolithsoft would have gotten to do a Xenoblade if they were already beholden to an established franchise, and it's exhibit A for Nintendo's failings at really getting behind new IP. It had a proven fan buzz and yet the fans had to pull Nintendo's teeth to even take notice of it for a western release.
When we're talking about Marketing, yes that is. If I have to watch a Nintendo Event to hear about a title.. that's not pushing the a title to it's fullest extent imo. I don't have to do that to see and hear about Mario or Zelda. I don't have to watch the PS Blog to hear about God of War or Last of Us. I don't have to boot up MS Live to see Gears or Halo adverts.
You can't take new (or long since missing) IP's and only advert them to your core and call that a legitimate marketing push. If the goal is to make the Game big you need to reach out to everyone and attempt to bring new blood to the fanbase/playerbase.

I was surprised. This was about games coming out of nowhere. FExSMT is one of those. X isn't, in my opinion. I'm not trying to downplay the announcement, but FExSMT was a whole different caliber of unexpected.
Expected this gif to be the first reply. Nintendo fans now have their very own Killzone2.gif!
Better than changing resumes. EAD Tokyo created none of those things. They did DK Jungle Beat, and then they've been chained to Mario since. You talked about EAD Tokyo. They created Animal Crossing, Wii Sports, Pikmin, Nintendogs...
But keep changing the narrative.
I'm all for sequels. Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Dead Space, Halo, Fable, those are all some of my favorite games and any of their off spring I've loved a fair bit as well(say what you will). However I'm ALL for nintendo doing something new. Especially since all that talent is going towards the same stuff(mostly stuff I dislike lol) I would LOVE a new, more mature, and darker IP from nintendo. Because I'd finally have a nintendo game to buy and enjoy, which I haven't done in over 10 years.
But why please one when you can please millions? So I'll just wait patiently until nintendo begins crumbling and they're forced to be radical![]()
Oh no, Nintendo is looking to release new entries in popular game series on its new hardware! This is something we should be up-in-arms about! I just don't get it. One Mario Kart game for each hardware generation is too much now?
Since you were talking about kid icarus uprising. It had a huge push with lots of commercials during March Madness as well as cards and anime shorts in the west as well. You've got no clue as to what you're talking about as Kid Icarus had received a big push. When we're talking about Marketing, yes that is. Actually the differnce is that N fans where craving for a gif for years now. With the difference that the team behind X developed one of the most acclaimed games of the last generation, and one of the best jRPGs ever, while Killzone 2's team development was coming from a pretty average FPS. Also: Killzone demo wasn't real time. X was.
Probably being the operative word here. I like how people keep listing Sony franchises even though they've invested heavily into new IPs this gen. Not just small PSN/Wiiware stuff either. Big, expensive risks that mostly bombed financially yet they still keep doing it.
If you listed the major new IPs from Sony this gen and Nintendo IPs you would have a list of at least 5 to 0.
Yes it is, that's why i found it beautiful even it's not on par with the 360 or PS4.
Anyway i think people that post this gif is to show that Nintendo can be more than Mario.
It's great to know that you can see the future. How much of X did you expect and what else will we see of the game.
Well ffs, it's that time again... The list warz.

Of course when we talk about new ips we also seem to conveniently leave out nintendogs, wii sports, wii fit, brain training and Nintendoland. There are plenty more but I just pointed out the well marketed ones.
But why you want nintendo to make those darker IP? What you like from Nintendo that'll bring so great stuff in DarkIP?
By the way i hate Nintendo to if they don't make a new Fatal Frame for the WiiU.
Actually the differnce is that N fans where craving for a gif for years now.
Because you know graphics are pointless...

Did you completely ignore the part where I mentioned that they had TV ads as well as ads all over gaming sites? KI: U's push didn't solely stem from Nintendo Direct. And the game's sales speak for that push as it's considered to have done well for a "new" IP. So, I'm sorry, you have no grounds to raise proper arguments as far as Kid Icarus is concerned.
