Holy shit!

I want it.

See video above. All sorts of stats , item percentages, item combinations, weapon trees, armor stats, monster damage charts, etc

The math still isn't adding up for me. I've seen guides do the same thing and end up being no more than 300 pages. That's in english mind you, but I imagine you can fit more japanese if nothing else.

Ok so I've never played Monster Hunter except for a bit on the original release on the PS2 if I remember correctly? Do you thinking I'l be able to get into and enjoy this game without already being vested in the Monhun universe? I don't mind getting my hands dirty and becoming more acquainted with the series if needed, although with University my time can be limiting. I'm thinking of getting the WIi U version, or I might get both. Is the game a good pick up and play game while commuting? I don't think I'l read the 1200 page monster book lol but I don't mind learning more about it etc. I'm a fan of games that require grinding so I don't mind starting at the bottom, but I'm scared I wont know what weapon is good, weaknesses etc. Sorry for being so vague and thanks in advance!

I'll be playing the 3DS version during my morning commute. I'll probably stick to shorter gathering quest and what not during commutes and then play with friends via the Wii U version at home. Not t

You shouldn't have any trouble jumping in without prior knowledge. My experience with MonHan prior to Tri was limited to a couple of minutes of PSP MH playtime. In the end, I invested 800 hours in Tri. You don't need to know weaknesses to beat enemies, but it helps a bunch. You always have Monster Hunter Wiki for advice on what's best, what to break for what rewards, etc. I'd love that guide book though.

The game does require time investment, not only for grinding for the right drops and harvesting, but also just to learn a specific weapon. On top of learning a weapon, each monster needs to be studied to see the opportune times to attack and when to be on your guard. It's really rewarding when you do end up beating your first really tough monster.

I was just thinking, the time I spend on the subway I usually play my 3DS and was looking forward to making progress in the 3DS version during those times, but... I'm not on it long enough to really do quests. Maybe like 15-20 minutes. I guess I could always pause the game and pick it back up on the way home...

Just whip out the slime element and you'll be good.

Not hating on the slime element either. It will be very handy when trying to get parts for items.

Yeah I'm just gonna stick with Froggi. Looks like they kind of missed the point.

Frogs are not the only animals that have throat sacs like that. Birds, and even some apes are known to have it as well.

20-25 minute streetcar ride for me means gathering quest will be best, but some quick fights wouldn't be terrible. Not like I ever turn off my 3DS anyway.

Slime element?

Yeah, sometimes called "Blast" element. Brachydios' green stuff. It's very destructive. To the point where there's like 30 youtube videos of players soloing G-Rank Alatreon with a Kelbi Bow (a bow that when you have Awakening, has the element).

Interesting, will have to look into it.

I'm on Tri online right now, finishing some quests solo. Might go offline for a bit but can go back online if anyone wants to help me clear some easy quests.

Valor 4 / City 18 / Gate 18

I love everything the offline mode has to offer but there's just one thing you can't get... Those would be the stories shared with your fellow hunters of epic fails and wins. With no one around to either jeer or celebrate with you when something truly unexpected happens...I guess what I'm trying to say is that the comradery really adds to the game in a way that's almost as addictive as armor collecting/matching.

For example I was doing an Ian hunt offline and she was weakening. I'd been hammering away at her tail with my LS like a madman and she was all flustered in rage mode. Now as she was rearing back and readying a nasty backflip I finally snipped that tail just as she was leaving the ground...to this day I swear to god she back flipped and belly flopped onto the ground as her tail went springing into the air. True story, probably one of the best solo random occurrences I've been apart of...but I had nobody to share the hunt with and therefore no one to relate the story to. No one saw what I did. Lol

GAF, please don't let me hunt alone :(

Damn! That "bible"!!
If the one from Brady is a a fatty at least, will get it for sure. (please limited edition hardcover too!! :p)

I believe it has both now.

There's no lock on in this game. The magical button centers the camera on the monster but only when you press it, ie it adjusts the camera but it doesn't lock on. A good solution since a lock on would make it impossible to play.

Gotcha. Thanks.

Great point and agreed 100%.

You get more/better friends if you are competent. You develop competence through soloing. :)

But yeeah, you won't be alone!

Ryozo Tsujimoto visiting Spain come next week for a Master Class on MH development (iDÉAME Maestro, hosted by Nintendo).

This kind of panels are always pretty revealing, so I guess we'll get some cool details on the series. Any super secret/insider thing you'd like to know about? :)
Something I've been dying to know, are any of the Japanese event quest unlockable weapons/armors going to be available for NA? Is it even possible for them to answere this??

Still so much time left until west release...

One question though, are lesser monsters still living client side only?

It's possible for them to answer, they are involved in the localization process too.

Capcom brought most of MH3 collaborations and items:

Tessaiga (Inuyasha) > Tenebra
Lightning Works (Dengeki) > Rising Soul
Brainfox (Famitsu) > Baltzenger
... etc.

Keep the faith up? They haven't mentioned anything yet, so I would expect the worst. :(

Oh wow. I guess it won't be uncensored.
We are using Nintendo servers, they have their own list of censored words.

Still playing! With Chopper Dave and seemingly random player Ellie.

Is this a straight localization of Tri G or was extra content added?

3DS version is a straight translation with the save transfer app (for the Wii U version) built in, I believe.

Still playing! Although we're both on the last quest for the night.

Edit- Aaaand we're done. Glad to have cleared out those quests.

TY. I saw a Japanese guide at my bookstore for Tri G, so even though I wont be able to understand much of it, its still may be of some help.

Yeah, both versions are 100% the same content as Tri G.
