EVO 2K13 Player's Choice: Donate money to breast cancer and get your favorite game in

Even though I don't play Melee competitively, I am totally in support for it being a main event at EVO. It will be the perfect opportunity to do away with the ridiculous notion that the Smash series is not a true competitive fighter.

If it comes down to the wire, I'll donate.

People would be surprised how much mainstream gaming blogs have covered positive FGC stories if they actually read those blogs.
It's still not that much, but I agree. Not sure if it was this charity specifically, but Kotaku did cover something positive very recently, right before I unsubscribed to their RSS. Expecting them to cover every little charity is asking too much though.

Being at EVO won't stop those lacking brain cells from calling it a non-fighter.

It's best just to think of EVO as a grand stage to have fun with Smash and witness the best players it has to offer.

If only EVO made people smarter. We'd get ten times the viewers. Too bad it doesn't and won't do anything to change the minds of stream monsters that number in the tens of thousands.

*Says the guy who has seen BlazBlue, Skullgirls, Smash and Soulcalibur pass by in tournaments*

No matter which game wins, it'll be a plus for me. If Skullgirls wins I'll have an extra game to play. If Melee wins I'll have a nice break during the finals to get one of those super tall drinks.

Eh, scrubs just repeat what they see from figureheads

A lot of it was fueled by negative stories on SRK, Mr Wizard backing a different ruleset for EVO 2k8 (w/ items), and various other FGC top player misinformation (see: Fanatiq's stream on Monday).

Stuff like that will go away. SRK has started posting positive Melee stories. Wizard has been really cooperative. And top players will see Melee for the game it is.

Melee at EVO will go a long way.

I was just looking forward to seeing Skullgirls having a main headlining show the one of the biggest public tournaments for for the first time. I know there'll be a stream anyway, but it won't get as much exposure for the needy Lab Zero this way. It deserves it.

Also, I find competitive Smash boring and will be skipping the stream instead of watching something I was really looking forward to.

This should be interesting, I was shocked when they announced they would be doing this sort of thing coming off of EVO2012.

On a side note, anybody know when competitor passes will go on sale?

So this is pretty damn cool
