I know, I said that in my post. =P That went away in Generation III with Brendan and May. But they are still called by the version names in the manga, and sometimes in prerelease material as well, and until a new character's official name is revealed, that's usually what fans go by too.
Well, manga isn't canon.
But yes, it's just a pet peeve of mine that people call them that.
Well, it's better than calling them all Ash, I guess.

How are those Legend cards played anyway? You need both pieces then you put it in play?
Yep, that's it exactly. If you don't have both cards in your hand, you can't put it on your bench

....Why did you have to make that correlation? Now the peach fanboy in me wants to pick the girl and name her peach.
I bought one of the tins, got the full art Reshiram EX card, so glorious but I wish I got Zekrom. 
I almost started a whole collection last year, but stopped. I used to collect as a kid, but no job etc. I spent at least $100-150 last year on cards, then I realize it's still not worth collecting them. The art is so nice these days though.
