3DS Streetpass Experiences

aw man, ive been through secret quest like 5x now...what achievements would i then miss? takes like a few hundred coins to get all the way through sometimes, i never plan for the "OH SHIT ITS HOT IN HERE GUYS, LETS GO HOME" rooms
I'm pretty sure there is an achievement for finishing the secret quest 10 times which is the minimum amount of runs it takes to unlock all the hats if you completely finish every run.
And can I abuse PuzzleSwap by constantly formatting my old 3DS until I get a pink piece? Or do you only get blue pieces at the start?
I think you could do that but it would be a lot of effort to format, hope you get a pink piece then if you don't keep repeating until you do.
Aren't pink pieces from streetpassing Nintendo Staff only? That's what I read anyway.
Every time they add a new puzzle you get one piece from that puzzle for free at random. The only way of getting pink pieces are either getting lucky and getting one as your first piece of the puzzle or through streetpassing with someone else who has one.

I now have two 3DS system to tag each other with with my purchase of an XL. You guys have any tricks with what I can do with two systems in hand? I was planning on getting Level 7 Miis of every color for Find Mii 2, but with you only being able to buy 3 old recruits at a time makes it seems rather pointless.

I used my launch unit to farm coins to unlock all the puzzle pieces and send them over to my XL, so that all my coins there can go towards Quest. And yes, I also reset it multiple times in order to unlock all the puzzles. It took about 18 formats and an hour of my time. Totally worth it. It's also worth noting I didn't get a single pink piece in that time. Theoretically theynare distributed by Spotpass randomly but...

Let me know how you get on.

That's a good idea. Only problem is I'm 95% with puzzleswap, I'm only missing the pink pieces and a few blues here and there.

Not sure if someone already discovered this, but I found that you can't just leave your game running when you close your 3DS. If you press the home button and leave it on that system pause menu screen, you're fine. I work at a grocery store, and the range is just good enough that it picks up customers from the break room on the second floor but I want getting anything for a while and didn't know why. Then I realized I'd leave Kid Icarus running on the Solo menu now I'm getting at least one a day.

I gave up on the puzzles months ago. I find it too much of a tedious affair just to unlock some 3D advertising. I do enjoy Quests though, gotta unlock all dem hats!

I turn it on before I leave the house in the morning and usually get a few hits a day on my travels. I've yet to see it add any worthwhile elements to actual games. Maybe when Pokemon X & Y drop they'll include something revoluntionary which will be cool because everyone will have a copy.

Black and White (and the sequels) have their own little in-game streetpass thing that's totally worthless because good luck finding someone who just feels like running with their DS game in tag mode, but it's got a lot of nifty uses and random things like 100 player multiplayer missions (again, which you'll never see unless you live in Japan).

Completely depends on the game. Resident Evil Revelations for example wouldn't pick up tags if you're actually playing but with the lid closed it was fine, no Home screen suspension needed. I've also had games that don't interfere with StreetPass at all even when you're actually playing them.

Home screen suspension is still the safest bet but it isn't absolutely needed in all cases.

That reminds me... do you know of any other games aside from StarFox and Ocarina of Time which turn off wireless connection so thay you can't get any tag?

I use to take my 3ds to work, and get streetpass hits every day. One is from a guy who walks by every day... and when I'm out and about, I often see him taking the round past all the game stores in town. He probably spends 30 minutes every day just collecting streetpass hits.

Hi, new to this thread (I think).

Are we ever gonna get new puzzles (in N/A)? Finished
Kirby:RTDL
two months ago, haven't touched puzzle swap since. I only play Find mii occasionally to get hats and accomplishments. I love StreetPass Mii Plaza but currently bored with it.

We should see the Fire Emblem and Brain Age puzzles showing up sometime soon.

Also, got a crapton of tags at the Zelda Symphony pink pieces for the majority of the puzzles. Only missing pieces for SM3DL and Mario Kart now.

Rise

When it comes to StreetPass, users in the automobile-dominated U.S. do not use it as much as Japanese users do. In contrast, it has gradually become popular in the metropolitan areas of European countries. This year we plan to add some StreetPass-related features to the Nintendo 3DS in order to encourage more people to go out with their Nintendo 3DS, and make StreetPass and SpotPass more popular overseas.

Just got Fire Emblem on my US 3DS.

Possibly Brain Age? I'm not sure, I'll be able to find out later today while I'm riding the trains and report back if nobody does by then.

In the mean time, I'm burning coins on blue pieces as I have over 200 of them and nothing really to spend them on.

Nothing here yet, but I just turned my 3DS on 10 minutes ago.

EDIT: Just got mine. And no pink pieces on either of my systems. :(

I was wondering when Fire Emblem would show up. Still haven't gotten it myself.

Damn, always on the day I spend Play Coins. I only have 15 blue pieces left (but I still have 53 pink pieces, I may have to swallow my pride and go to anime cons). When I get the puzzle... I shall see.

EDIT: Speak of the devil, just got the puzzle. No pink. I'll try my other 3DS later.

Oooh. New Puzzles? I wonder when we'll get them in europe? I've still got two pink pieces left for the latest kirby one though. I've got all the hats in the quest and without any manipulative time-travel coin hoarding. Still loads of odd "accomplishments" to get though. I don't think I'll ever get some of them.

I used to get a load of Street Passes in and around Glasgow, but it's been a while. I'm off to Austin and might swing by the game related part of SxSW, so maybe I'll get a whole bunch of Street Passes then?

Still nothing. I suppose they didn't share it to European systems yet. Weird considering Fire Emblem is coming out here aswell.

Just got my Fire Emblem puzzle. I always feel sad when I don't get a pink piece to start off with. It's like a bad omen that it's going to take me longer to finish the puzzle.

Still need two pink pieces for Kirby but I'm having some friends over from the Super Bowl so I know I'll get it from them.

Hah, this is kind of awesome. I had gotten a few StreetPasses last week, but decided not to open the Plaza, as I wanted to accumulate a couple more hits first. But obviously when the Fire Emblem puzzle went up, I opened it immediately. Didn't get a pink piece -- I never have :( -- but what I DID get was a StreetPass hit from a Japanese 3DS! And that person had the entire Fire Emblem puzzle complete already. So I got a pink piece anyway! :D

If I'd checked my SPs a few days ago instead of waiting, I'd not have been able to snatch a Fire Emblem piece at all.

Guess us poor Europeans will have to wait for the FE puzzle, just like the game :(

Really surprised there was no Paper Mario puzzle, and I'm frankly astonished they haven't done a Wii U related puzzle yet.

I never get pink starter pieces either... luckily, there are two on my JP 3DS. Hopefully this one can be polished off at PAX East.

Running Streetpass Mii Plaza on two 3DSes simultaneously sure is going to be fun.

FE puzzle JUST as I get all of the pink pieces already! Ill never finish any of these completely :(

At least you don't have the Brain Age and Animal Crossing puzzles taunting you on top of that. There's no way those will get done anytime soon unless I fly out to Japan.

Wow, 3 streetpasses is a single day! An unprecedented frenzy.

My 3DS was flashing-red when I took it out of my bag. If the battery had died none of the streetpasses would have survived, right?

Hey guys, a little off-topic but today I decided to go out and get some street pass hits but the 3DS says that it couldn't access the SD card. Thos card is the same that I used with my original 3DS but moved it to my XL when I got it. The card is not full, and it has a couple games that I've purchased.

Any idea on how to fix this?

Did you perform a proper migration or did you just straight up move the SD card from one 3DS to another?

I worked for a research institute at a university and I've been putting my 3ds in my bag for the last 6 months while walking to work. Street pass # 0

Got every blue piece, because coins. Pink pieces are another issue. Have 1 pink piece in Kirby: Return to Dreamland and none in FE. Have the rest, though, from StreetPass meetups with a guy who went to a GameStop convention and got them. We're way overdue for another "special" NOA visitor who magically has all the pink pieces that randomness denies us masses. :(

Yeah, was expecting several puzzles last Fall (e.g. Layton, Paper Mario, Style Savvy, Wii U games) and we got Return to Dreamland instead. o.O

Hopefully we get someone for the 3DS 2 year anniversary and E3.

Also, anyone have guesses as to what the new streetpass content will end up being? Although I'd be content with Find Mii 3, I think it'll be something more than that based on Iwata saying the main purpose of this is to bring more actvity to Streetpass aboard.

There's an Animal Crossing puzzle?
For Japanese systems, yeah.

Nope, you'd still keep all those StreetPass tags even if your system died. They'll still be there waiting for you when you charge your 3DS.

Did something happen recently to promote Streetpass in the UK?

After a long drought I have tagged people in six consecutive days, something like 15 new faces in total.

A lot of them seem to be playing Pokemon B/W 2.

I have watched StreetPass die in the US. Airport trips used to be reliable, now I'm lucky to get two passes. I just went to NYC, and didn't get any in three days. People have their wireless turned off.

Yes, I just got this today! StreetPass number 5,000, yay!
