EVO 2K13 Player's Choice: Donate money to breast cancer and get your favorite game in

That's not a win for Skullgirls at all.
Who the heck has heard of Genesis.

I know I haven't.

Me neither.

Also, kind of strange, because they said they were going to have a Skullgirls tournament at G3 until my joke tweet offended them.

...But now they will put it back in if we give them thousands of dollars?

Genesis is a huge Smash tournament, so it's not really the community Skullgirls is trying to reach.

Edit: turning this donation drive into Japan vs. USA would be amazingly appropriate considering everything else that's happened

Genesis is one of the largest-scale Melee tournament series. The first was in 2009, the second in 2011, and the third was just announced a couple of weeks ago at Apex. Run by and takes place in Norcal.

History lesson(?): They're mostly notable for the Mango-Armada rivalry (grand finals at both tournaments), and providing two of the earlier showings of Armada (from Sweden) just tearing through most of the US's best players with Peach, a character who had never been played at such a high level.

Genesis is very very large. Its in Norcal.

But all this is speculation.

Boback (the host of Genesis) never said he wouldn't have Skullgirls after the tweet. I don't even know where that rumor came from. And he never said he'll host it if they hand over their spirit bomb.

It is an idea though. The Smash community is huge and Skullgirls will probably have more luck piggybacking them than begging the FGC.

Being a side tournament at Evo will be a much bigger thing than being for Skullgirls than being at a Super Smash Bros event ever will.
Heck, being a side tournament a Final R

I looked up Genesis, and it only had 228 people.
How is that huge?

If you think that Skullgirls making EVO is still a possibility at this point then you're delusional. The FGC is going to move on to supporting Super Turbo now.

Uhh, whether it makes it as an 8th game or not, there will still be a tournament for it...
That's what a side tournament is...

And Skullgirls still has a very good shot at making it.
The last Salty Cupcakes raised over $15k in a couple hours, and this one is looking to be a much bigger thing.

Of course if there's still more 401k funds coming, then yeah, nobody stands a chance.
