MCV's PR blogger mad gamers didn't buy DmC, calls GAF a bad word

I didn't buy DmC because I didn't want to support Ninja Theory, a company who trashed fans of the game they were making.

I know the game is pretty good. I know they did a good job. But I won't buy it.

And I hope they learned some humility.

But for now, they can rot in hell.

This is actually so true lol
This shit isn't true at all.

This a reboot remember? They wanted to expand the audience remeber? We weren't their target in the first place, and for as much as that shot article would love to try and pin it on us, we can't stop other people from buying the thing any more then we could stop them from making it.

I remember a LOT more complaints about 30fps. Like, a lot more. So no, it's not true. It wasn't spite, it was "oh god this could very well be a subpar experience".

Turns out it wasn't subpar at all, so everyone wins, and everyone gets to go home happy. Well, except for nutjob bloggers who think they need to "call out the haters" or whatever.

It is subpar at 30fps, though. The visual aspect alone. I'd say the entire game is sub-par, as well, considering. It's still decent though.

It's actually not true at all. Capcom jettisoned the existing canon and game design in lieu of something they thought would be more appealing to fans, newcomers and a mainstream audience that was going to somehow amount to millions and millions of units sold.

No one came to the party, now Capcom's in an awkward position where they can either admit they were wrong and put some effort into DMC5, sign on Ninja Theory for another sequel and hope they hit the jackpot somehow, or pretend it's the consumers' faults and leave the series dead.

After Megaman, I wonder what route they'll take.

Ninja Theory games under perform financially, that is what they do.

It should come as no surprise that their latest endeavour followed this pattern.

O_o

And you still have a Nariko av because?

because the burden of proof is not on me. I am not the one making the claim. Even if it took me one second of googling to credit/discredit the post I wouldn't do it because the poster should have included a source in his post.

I already know what MCV is, what I'm wondering is why are people here reacting towards the author of the article as if he were a representative of Capcom. ("I'm crossing this game off my backlog!!")
Not really if you had followed any other DmC performance thread, the info has used and sourced several times, not everyone should have to stop for the one guy who doesn't follow and is to lazy to find info for themselves.

fair enough. I have this habit of including links backing up my statement whenever I make a claim. I guess it's silly of me to expect the same of others. The person I asked to include a citation did not include a citation. No point in harping on this further, so moving on.
You don't get to get out of this with your superiority complex intact because you're misinterpreting your inability to read the thread and do baseline research as a failure on the behalf of the posters you're arguing with to back up their statements. Do you expect people to source that DmC was released on the PS3, the X360, and the PC?

Is that Nariko?

EDIT: Beaten.

You're missing the point. I don't have to follow any other thread.

Poster should have included citation of data in his post. It makes no difference if the data was on another thread.

You can't make any reasonable assumption that I am following the same threads he or you are following.

Well I'm just talking about the general reception I've been privy too, which has been pretty positive. Obviously there's room for subjectivity. I wanna play it but my money is reserved for Platinum and Raiden.

I've always considered Ben Parfitt to be one of the weakest video game "journalists" working in the industry. Unless of course reporting on press releases equals journalism. If that is the case then he is indeed a shining star.

There is a reason he writes for MCV. And it is nothing to do with talent. Well actually it has everything to do with talent. The lack of it.

Then we also don't need to bother with you because you make no effort to stay current with the current topic at hand. Not everyone is your butler, we don't need to get you shit that is readily avalible to everyone with a single brain cell and google.

If you're going to make a sales argument it might help to read up on the sales involved. That's OT though. Article writer is a moron, news at 11.

I suppose the question now is whether Capcom will go back to DMC3/4 style of play, or forge ahead in search of the elusive GoW sales numbers.

If you know what MCV is it should be obvious why people are reacting like that(also if you knew what it is why did you repeatedly misrepresent it in this thread?).

Seeing as your whole contribution to this thread was throwing out mockery and not even replying to the sources you can't really be mad at GAF for getting the impression that you weren't interested in any discussion to begin with.

Platinum games are not known for setting sales charts on fire either.

That's my exact point. Bizarro world everything is the same, but opposite. The platinum curse and the NT bomba are very similar, cept one (Platinum) is Superman, and the other, the villainous Bizarro Superman (NT).

DmC was made to gather new fans. There wasn't an audience for Donte, at least not one bigger than the old fanbase. The hair wasn't the biggest complaint, it was more the whole redesign. That includes his physical appearance, and his attitude. On top of that, the story is even more embarrassing than the old Devil May Cry games. Either way, you can't blame the fans when they were the ones alienated by the reboot.

Also, don't post the fucking article if you don't want anyone to see it. There wouldn't have been such a backlash if you didn't present it in such a dickish manner. If you don't think you did anything wrong, then don't hide either.

The tweet in the OP isn't very nice. :(

Aww, don't worry. I am sure "fuckwit" is short for "don't fuck with us", going by his cowering.

Hoping having the Metal Gear name on their newest game helps out with that, at least some.

It could go wrong though, and there is definitely a difference between both developers communication with militant fan bases. On one side, Ninja Theory and DMC had some initial communicational missteps reacting to fans complaints, Platinum Games were pretty much silent (at least that I know of) when some vocal fans of MGS complained about a non-canon MGS game in genre and protagonist. Keep under the radar, let the publisher deal with the communication, deliver a good game and hope that fans old and new understand the value of your game without the background noise of polemic.

NEEEEERRRRRRRDDDDDDD. hehehe ;)

because I like Heavenly Sword and Nariko.

Pretty irrelevant huh?
I get we're your coming from. If I rocked an Avatar it would be of X, but I still wouldn't support a Legends 3 from Capcom. You can love a product and be not supportive of a developers future works.

All you need to do is look at a YouTube or Facebook comments section to know that people who play Mgs are not happy about MGR.

High bars and credible sources, I know. However the sentiment does exist.

You can't please everybody.
