Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate announced for Wii U/3DS, coming to West, no 3DS online

Got an email from Capcom stating the demos for both the Wii U and 3DS are coming on Feb. 21. Sweetness.

Kick ass.

Was announced with the release date. :) Have my calendar marked for both.

Now the question is would the maybe 30 usage demo will be enough to tie you over or will we keep the 3DS always on the demo for a month XD; seriously Nintendo wtf is with those demo usage limits...

That is ok, I will have it on both my wii u and 3ds. Once the wii u one is used up I will just keep my 3ds in sleep mode in the demo lol, or maybe on the last 5 uses. It's a tough call right now.

I shall have 90 usage if that's the number muhahahaha, got a original 3DS that ain't being used for much so might keep that one on the demo lol.

damm, I totally forgot about about the demos! month cannot run by fast enough.

nice to see that we get demos on Nintendo hardware before the game is a month old. I hope this trend will go on.

I haven't seen any demos on Wii U/3DS that have no play limit. I may be wrong, but that doesn't seem like something every developer would want to do.

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy demo is unlimited. They don't bother me, I play the demos 10 times at most before deleting them or forgetting about them.

Think they'll want to use it, kinda like if you like the demo so much buy the freaking game already thing XD.

Right, but I mean if you can only play a certain amount of content, and then you can only play it a certain amount of times, it's kind of overkill.

I know I used to love playing a Tony Hawk demo on 360. I never wanted to buy the game, I just liked the demo. There's games like that I would like to just have the demo for on Wii U, but Monster Hunter isn't one of them. I just hope I don't use all the tries before it comes out...

Well, I have yet to play any demo more than 5 times, though this one may end up being an exception since it's coming out so early before the full release. I'll probably be ok with 30 times if that's what we get.

How does the 3DS / Wii U interaction work? If I have both versions, is it easy to transfer my save from one to another? If I have a friend over, can we play multiplayer with one person on the 3DS and another person on the Wii U?

Seems like a manual step, but I'll deflect to those with copies of Tri G+HD.

Yes, if both have copies of the game.

Word from people who have done it say save transfer takes about 70 seconds.

Question: Is Lagiacrus the most beautiful monster?

(Answer: yes)

If you looked at the Japanese Miiverse for Mon Hun you'd see there were no screenshots. It bums me out honestly. First thing I went to when Japan finally got the Wii U and I was gravely disappointed.

Not too bad honestly

Really it's the amount of steps that's the deal breaker

Would like it to be as good as Transfarring, which once you understand it's quirks, is freakin' awesome and convenient

Only in Nintendo land is online play an amazing feature considered a "bomb."

I don't think nintendo land would benefit as much from online play to be considered a megaton.

They could probabaly patch the mh3gu miiverse integration to allow the implementation of screenshots. As far as I know, everytime you press the home button, a screenshots is made internally anyway.

Man, I'm thinking to pick up just the 3DS version at launch :\
The absence of Offtv in these days at home could reduce too much my chance of playing...probably within few months I'll pick up the Wii U too, and will transfer the data saved

I considered that too, but problem is I know no one with a 3DS. I'd have to play online if I wanted multiplayer, so I'm getting the Wii U version. The fact that it's $60 and has no OffTV play kind of blows, but oh well.

I've started realizing that I'd much rather play on a game on a portable than a home console, for personal convenience and comfort. Playing on a TV for some reason feels a bit restrictive, which is why off-TV play is a pretty big deal for me. Anyways, I'll get this on my 3DS for that reason.

my problem is that nowadays at home in the evening during the week, I cannot play on the tv screen. I'm playing just with the Wii U and just those games that have Offtv, plus Paper mario on the 3ds. No PS3 allowed for now!!!
Probably in the next months this situation will change slighlty, so: pick up the 3ds version, play the first part of the game alone singleplayer offline, sometimes I'll see also a friend of mine with the 3DS or Wii U version at his home to play multy.
Then, after some time, I'll pick up the Wii U versione (maybe used) and pass the saves to the home one, to cnontinue playing.

Yea I see where you're coming from. I really enjoy playing games on my 3DS and Vita without restrictions. I usually only play them at home, but being able to play games anywhere in the house is really convenient. For a game like MH though I think I need the online multiplayer.

Ok, here's my full report-interview from yesterday's event (in Spanish).

After confirming region-locked online and no Miiverse screens, I asked about different stuff. Sorry, no MH4 talk allowed. Asked about unlockables and studio behind Wii U version at your request: not same collabs as in Japan, but similar events and unlockables for Europe. Wii U was developed between guys from internal team (including main members) and support from external studio.

Seriously, he should be on the cover.

Ain't nobody here for that blue Rathalos.

I can't believe I didn't like his design at first. But that's a good argument for not putting him on the cover. Lots of people who don't play Monster Hunter love the new cover, and Bracchy could've been too dark and weird-looking. So I think it's a good decision. Nothing will beat the Tri cover anyway.

More stuff:

- Voice chat via GamePad atm, no comment on headsets support ala Trine 2 (but I guess that's a given)
- No intention of toning mechanics down at all in search of wider audience. "our goals is quite the opposite – we want to expand the options of the players when making decisions. This is how we believe we can reach a wider audience. Not by simplifying it"
- Hears European gamers concerns, apologizes and promises more attention and effort.

My colleagues are posting an English version - will share when it's ready. Interesting Master Class tidbits IMO :)

I need to know: aside from online multiplayer, will the 3DS content be gutted? I don't really care about multiplayer, but I care about getting locked out of content. I want like like MHFU where every content was accessible and can be beaten solo.

Same content, you can solo every quest, and use StreetPass.
