Rayman Legends coming to Xbox 360/PS3, all versions releasing in September

But they are ignoring the fact that multiple other games are coming out in that time frame, including our beloved GTA V. It's going to bomb hard against GTA V.

To be fair, the people interested in GTAV and those interested in Legends don't necessarily overlap, and those who care for both are likely enthusiast gamers who are willing to spend more money for multiple games in a short timespan.

RE4 Gamecube exclusive! Lol nope.
RE Revelations 3DS exclusive! Trolol.
Rayman Legends Wii U exclusive! ....

Ok, Nintendo and 3rd party relationship will never be better.

I think 7th gen should of taught us that third party exclusives can never be 100% believed.

DMC4/FFXIII PS3 exclusive!...Nope
Mass Effect 1/Dead Island 1 (Wii version does count) Xbox 360 exclusive! Nope
The Grinder (even though it might never come out :( Wii exclusive!...Nope

For 8th gen the only way I expect third party exclusives is if the big 3 pay for them.

There's really no reason to buy it day one anymore. I mean think about it. We're going to see a lot of games out in September, including GTA V, which are more likely to be bought over this. In two months time the price for Legends will drop and we'll see Black Friday deals for around $20. I was going to buy it day one since there was nothing else on the Wii U, but now I'll just wait for it to hit a low price.
That would be the smart thing to do.

I feel for all the Wii U owners who were looking forward to the game. It's pretty much an asshole move to delay the game two weeks before it's supposed release date.

I wonder what happened, though. Has Nintendo's deal with Ubisoft fallen through due to the weak hardware sales? If Nintendo didn't pay for (timed) exclusivity, why else would Ubisoft have announced the game only for the Wii U to begin with?

Hundreds of thousands?
Yeah, as in an extra 300,000 per system, at least. Nothing to preclude it from being a multi-million seller, but I was just being conservative! Not playing Sales GAF, though, so don't get hung up on the example. The point is, the game will sell a LOT more as a multiplat.

The smart way for Ubisoft to handle this was to:

1. Release the Wii U version on track on Feb 26.
2. Get awesome reviews.
3. Enhance the game with extras for PS3/360 release on PSN/XBLA for budget price of $40 by the end of the year (around October).
4. Sell well and receive good review again.
5. The hype will remind people of the game again when it's near the year-end award season.
6. Sweep some Platformer of the Year award.

Now they are just making a mess. Especially delaying it 2 weeks before its release.

Wait, do we know for sure that it was done? It was close to release, but maybe that release date was just bullshit.

You do realize the game was ALREADY DELAYED ONCE, right? It was supposed to be out for the Wii U launch, but they delayed it until February 26th so "the game can finish development under the same level of high quality."

I think they have underestimated the amount of people who will be slowing their game purchasing this fall. After E3 reveals most everything that will be coming out in the fall, Rayman is going to hit the backburner hard for most people especially when you know it'll be hitting cheap in only a couple months for sure.

To be fair, the people interested in GTAV and those interested in Legends don't necessarily overlap, and those who care for both are likely enthusiast gamers who are willing to spend more money for multiple games in a short timespan.

While this may hold some truth, I guarantee this game will lose some potential sales to GTA V as well as other releases in that time frame.

WOW at that delay. Total disappointment :(

I bet Mr. Iwata is thrilled with this right now.

Obviously based on what he said at the Nintendo Direct he knows that the Wii U line up isn't exactly thrilling the world right now, and not that Rayman necessarily would set the world on fire, but at least it was something relatively soon they could get to the market.

Agree.

RL was potentiallly a system-seller with a release-date (February) that filled a "hole" in WiiU's Q1 2013 stagnant line-up.

Not buying the game now.

I don't feel like playing Rayman when there are so many other games coming out in September.

Ubisoft really screwed up this release

I..ah..urg....Come on now! Finally a nice big release early in the year, taken away from us at the last second. I was SOOO excited for this for Wii U. Now I have to wait til September? Jezuz.

"[the delay is] really about the fans. It’s really about having a very interesting universe, a mix of craziness and poetry mixed all together. We are very happy that we can bring that to many, many Rayman fans and the more we can, the better.”
Oh fuck you.

Agreed, this is really shitty way of saying it

I drew this on Miiverse on December 13th

the dev team posted it on Facebook

It is not like they don't know they have Fans on Wii U but seriously this is great for everyone else except Wii U owners who was waiting to play this game this month

While this may hold some truth, I guarantee this game will lose potential sales to GTA V as well as other releases in that time frame.

And we'll never know if you are right because we don't live in an alternate universe to collect data for when it's released in March. It has competition in every month. "Other releases" and so forth.

Holy shit at the delay. So much for Ubisoft having a good relationship with Nintendo as well.

At this point, I'd just go full on Nintendo mode, buy up a bunch of developers and dying publishers and go it alone from there and let any third party that's willing to come in and join the party.

Volition and its IPs should have been their's.

Love Origins on PS3 in 1080p and this does not seem more demanding, or any other technical reason it NEEDS to be on the WiiU lol
PS3 and 360 can run this juuust fine so let them. Why are people mad/sad over this?

Im happy.

We're sad because we could have been playing it soon but now we have to wait for you lot to get your ports before we can play it. I mean, it's finished for the Wii-U?

Why delay the Wii-U release until September and lose any faith or goodwill us Wii-U owners have for them? My mind boggles, i would make a really, really bad businessman it appears.

Sorry if this was posted already.

I don't see how that could even be an issue. The Wii U version of the game is done, so what would releasing that version and then just releasing the other two later have harmed them? Eventually they have to release the wii u version.

Did you see Rayman's Origins sales? I know eventually Ubisoft said it was profitable or something, but it didn't exactly light up the charts in the first month, as far as I remember.

Though I'm not sure of its LTD.

This is great, this was honestly the most tempting Wii U exclusive for me. I loved Origins.

I hope it comes to PC as well.

ome on man, Wiii U can't catch a break.
Ubisoft can really fuck off right now
I don't mind the game going multiplatform, actually I prefer it that way, the game deserves more sales
But what I can't understand is the delay for the Wii U version.
What a shitty move, Ubisoft. They KNOW it's one of the most anticipaded games, it had potential as a system seller, they KNOW the Wii U is basically crawling and starving for new games and what do they do? delay it 7 FUCKING MONTHS!! Exactly the same month GTA V releases. I don't know if they do it on purpose or they're just unintentionally retarded.

Better to delay all versions than to release one version and then release the other two 7 months later when the public has moved on.

You know what blows my mind?

THIS WAS THE ONLY PLAYABLE DEMO ON WII U KIOSKS AT LAUNCH TIME

Not even Mario, LEGO City, or Sonic Racing!! How many excuses does Ubi-soft need?

Ha Ha....This is so true. What an epic fail for Nintendo. Here, try out this great exclusive (actually multi-plat) game only available on Wii U in the launch window (I mean 8 months)..

What? No PC release? Why?
If you're going to take Wii U's exclusivity anyaway, why not release it for the only platform that's not going to be replaced in the next year? D:
There'll be a PC release. Just like everyone suspected there would be a PS3/360 release of Legends. It just hasn't been announced yet.

Nobody's shocked that it's going multi-platform—the shocking thing is that the Wii U version is being delayed for a simultaneous release.

The smart way for Ubisoft to handle this was to:

1. Release the Wii U version on track on Feb 26.
2. Get awesome reviews.
3. Enhance the game with extras for PS3/360 release on PSN/XBLA for budget price of $40 by the end of the year (around October).

Yep. Except for the PSN/XBLA deal. They could (and should) still do retail.

PS3 and 360 can run this juuust fine so let them. Why are people mad/sad over this?

Im happy.

Mainly because the game was done on Wii U and people want Wii U games. If they needed time for multiform ports then fine do them after you ship, but why give the finger to Wii U owners who want it now? It's still going to be the platform of choice for this.

Preorder cancelled. I'll buy it next year for 9.99GBP then.
I wanted something to keep me busy until Pikmin3 arrived :(

Think about it guys. This game was DONE AND READY TO SHIP.

They're essentially redoing the entire game. Im glad more peple will play it but this is a Horrible move by Ubisoft

And we'll never know if you are right because we don't live in an alternate universe to collect data for when it's released in March. It has competition in every month. "Other releases" and so forth.

When the game does worse than Orgins, we'll know.

Seriously, it could have been a Wii U seller, I really don't understand the delay.
On the other hand I'm happy for PS360 owners because more people deserve to play this game.
Iwata won't *laughs* this time.

I understand people being upset over the delay but the Wii U version will still be the best version.

The only advantage i see with the other versions is system wide achievements.

Not buying the game now.

I don't feel like playing Rayman when there are so many other games coming out in September.

Ubisoft really screwed up this release
actually it makes sense. They probably figure since the WiiU sales would probably be so poor, they're better off releasing the game on all platforms so it isn't perceived as a "late port" on the other consoles.
