Rayman Legends coming to Xbox 360/PS3, all versions releasing in September

I don't care about the game going multiplatform, nothing wrong with more people being able to play the game, but delaying the WiiU version to launch with the other versions is horrible.

No!! No fucking way, No!!

This is fucking bullshit! Absolute, grade-A fucking bullshit!! I've had this game pre-ordered since September of last year, thinking it was going to be a launch title and they pull this bullshit?! No. Fucking no. This game is ready to go on Wii U. It's done. It's pretty much ready to ship. They can't lie about that.

This game was my game of E3 last year. It was the #1 reason I bought a Nintendo Wii U in the first Goddamn place. Now they're gonna fuck over their customers by announcing a delay 3 weeks before it was gonna launch? Fuck that, I'm writing letters and so should you.

Write to Nintendo. Let them know how important a title this is NOT to be delayed again. Let them know you may just trade in your system if this game does not come out on it's expected date.

Write to Ubisoft. Let them know how much you've been waiting and wanting to play this game. Tell them that they're fucking over their fanbase by delaying this game just to appease to the dudebro crowd. Tell them if they go along with this, you will NOT buy a new copy and wait until you can get it used because if they do this, they won't see a god damn dime of my money.

This is NOT the news I needed to wake up to right now. God damn you Ubisoft.

Well, at least we're getting some laughs out of this thread, no?

Anyway, sucks for the WiiU; if I ever buy the system (and I did want to) I guess it will be much later than I thought. I do worry about Nintendo's future though, those guys can't catch a breath :(. As for me I'll be waiting for PC release confirmation :D

Threads like this are why, as someone who works for Ubisoft and knows the kinds of people who put so much work into creating games only to see the outright shit devs get for wanting to better them and bring them to a larger audience, I can't help but dislike many GAF gamers.

And this is just ridiculous. If I had bought a Wii U for Legends (and I almost did), I'd be damn pissed about the delay.

:lol How can anyone say this game needs more work. They practically spell it out that the game was near complete a few months back.

Wowzers, bad news all round for wiiu right there, purchase of my wii u is looking worse by the day. Rayman was one of the main reasons i jumped in day one. Crazy and a real bad sign for nintendo.

60 FPS 1080p and in 3D of course. Plus share your best runs with the touch of a button.
PS3/Xbox360 owners won't give a shit and buy GTAV
It'll get more exposition than only in 1 console, so if you cared for the game you should be happy.

No marketing for a title 3 weeks out means DELAYED.

Me too. It was the most appealing game for the system for me of the announced titles.

Wii-U owners will shun the title out of spite, PS3 / 360 owners will buy it as it's an unexpected surprise, the next one will be PS3 / 360 only. The circle of... something.

I'll buy it, good games still come over everything else in this hobby. I can't promise it will be day one though, considering tons of other good titles usually come out in September (I wouldn't be surprised If Nintendo release Yoshi Epic Yarn that month, which will directly compete with Legends). Also, my wallet comes first over any company allegiance, so if I pick something else up that month then I will no doubt wait for the price drop and/or buy used.

This game does not seem important enough for a betrayalton and yearlong delay.

How does that relate to someone who bought a new console so they could play this game when it was promised to be a launch title for that console?

It doesn't, and that's unfortunate. I bought a Wii U so I could play the game too - loved Origins. The Wii U is currently collecting dust at a buddy's house. But the idea that the Wii U version won't be any different than what you'd seen had the game not been delayed from March of this year, or Christmas of last year, is just wrong.

Plausible how? What fucking planet did you come from? The game was already completed when Wii U launched..

How do you think you know this?

If I told you we were having in-house friends and family playtests of the game at Christmas, would you change your mind?

Nintendo needs to step up on this and give them a strong offer. They don't know what a valuable third party Ubisoft has been to them. Between the Rabbids, Just Dance and now ZombiU, Ubisoft has been one of the strongest and most supportive Nintendo developers. They can't afford to lose that now. They need to do like what they did with Monster Hunter and bribe the shit out of them to keep it platform exclusive. Even if it's just a timed exclusive.

This is why you can't count on 3rd parties to carry you system launch. Nice job Nintendo. There goes another reason why I bought the damn system.

"Launch Window"

It's just a few people on message board saying that. I'm sure the game will do fine on all platforms.
The game will probably be better, in addition to being available to more people. This way the WiiU owners eventually get a game that at least isn't gimped compared to PS3/360. Everyone gets (more or less) the same product now.

It's not bringing it to a wider audience...it's delaying the game to September that's the issue here when the game was SUPPOSED to be at Wii U's launch.

Way to assume soo much about wii U owners Nostradamus :/ my pre order stands.

When Rayman Legends' demo came out, it had a 30 (25?) play limit. Many people correctly pointed out that almost no one plays through a demo this many times, and that the game would be out soon. Not only is the game not going to be out soon, but depending on how things shake out, there have probably been some pretty substantial design changes that may or may not make the current demo a sort of "slice of history", worth archiving. It is impossible to archive the demo for posterity, even on a personal level, because of the play limit. Food for thought.

Wasn't there a demo running in kiosks before WiiU even launched?
There's absolutely no way the game is so incomplete they have to delay it for half a year.

I don't think BGE2 will ever be out now...

The next Iwata Asks will be a short one: "What the fuck, man?"

If you've already played the Legends demo 25 times, you should just buy it already. Stop being cheap.

Why? As popular as the Rabbids games are (were?), Origins sold really poorly on all platforms.

I dont see why they would delay the WiiU version. I mean, it seems to be to have a simulation release on all platforms, but would it really hurt the overall sales to release the WiiU version first, which assumeably is pretty much done? I guess that the delayed time is used for the porting process to PS3 and Xbox 360.

this is so disappointing. now it's gonna launch in September against a dozen games that i'm going to want even more. maybe i'll find it on a steam sale during christmas, who knows.

they even have the demo out right now on the eshop. i wonder if they'll pull it

Keep playing fellatio with your company. You guys deserve all of the shit you're getting now for delaying a game you've dated for this month just because you're putting it on other platforms.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again; what planet did you come from to think delaying a finished game for two ports is a good idea, let alone one people would be happy with, nearly three weeks from the original release date? You are certainly lacking tons of brain cells to not see the issue here.

Then again, you do work at Ubisoft. Sorry for that.

For every Bayonetta 2 betraylton thread there is a Rayman Legends betraylton thread. The yin and yang of NeoGAF. Balance. It's like a carousel. You put the quarter in, you get on the horse, it goes up and down, and around. Circular, circle. Feel it. Go with the flow.

Yeah, hopefully that content will remain intact, and this delay will just mean new levels and content as they develop the multiplat ports.

I only played it once :)

Even on my 3DS I play a demo once or twice and keep it on the home screen in a folder. Demo archiving lol :p

It's still playing with customer's expectations though. How many games get delayed a couple of weeks before their release, and lose (timed) exclusivity at the same time, after they were specifically announced as killer apps for a launching console?

The fact that you don't see the backlash as justified, specially with how the news were delivered (spinning it for a positive angle) seems pretty deluded to me.

3rd party support is fucking booming. From devs stating their current PS3/360 projects won't be releasing on the Wii U to one of the bigger games on the horizon for the Wii U is not only being released on PS3/360 removing the exclusive tag, it is also getting delayed several months so the Wii U doesn't even fucking get timed exclusive treatment anymore.

If this is how 3rd party devs are treating the Wii U now, the system will be flat out abandoned once Sony and MS drop their new children off to play.

It's been announced. Whatever window there was for moneyhats has long gone. Agreements have no doubt been made with Sony and Microsoft now that cannot be withdrawn. Let it go, bro.

Am I witness the birth of new "Shot themselves in foot"? I think I am! :lol

My exact thought too lol. Holy over reaction.

Ubisoft just shot themselves in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about the lack of games for a console (I'm a Vita owner, so that makes me an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like Vita's launch where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you delay a game for WiiU, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the WiiU owners, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase Rayman for either system, nor will they purchase any of Ubisoft's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Ubisoft has alienated an entire market with this move.

Ubisoft, publicly apologize and cancel Rayman for 360 and PS3 or you can kiss your business goodbye.

Are we really so sure that the wiiU version has been delayed till september? The official site got it still scheduled for a first quarter realese

Why? As popular as the Rabbids games are (were?), Origins sold really poorly on all platforms.

I think that's a misread of the situation. Why is Legends being made, if not because of a belief that Origins provided a platform to work from? Remember that Origins was intended to be a series of digital download games. I think between modest sales being enough to cover the budget, and amortizing UbiArt's development costs across multiple projects, they probably see Origins as successful. Obviously not wildly successful or anything, but successful enough to justify ongoing investment in that sort of thing.

Last gamescom I literally told a Rayman Legends Developer to get this game out of launch, so that it won´t become "that other platformer next to Mario that nobody buys. Because Mario". Of course the delay´s a shame, but I still love this game and everything for what it stands for. Still looking forward to it. It deserves all the spotlight it can possibly get.
