Destructoid: PS4 controller prototype & devkit photo, [Up: New Photo/Info In OP]

Didnt make the gif btw.

Oh god!

Hilarious hahahah!

I have to say I don't really understand the purpose of the light bar if it is some kind of move like sensor. It just reminds me of how awful it was holding a DS3 as a sub controller was compared to an actual sub-controller.

Just what would you get out of tracking a normal controller with a camera that you don't get out of gyros?

Where's the pic?

Vita doesn't have colored buttons...actually, the finish of the Vita is really nice. Would like to see a same sort of classy look for the new DualShock controller.

somewhere in the original controller rumor thread. i have an injured thumb so it's laborous to use my laptop right now. hopefully someone makes a new mockup with this leaked photo as reference and uses the b&w buttons again.

youre right about vita, totally forgot. hoping this prototype is just early and they had to use sare ds3 buttons.

Looks like my hopes of a scaled down boomerang is dashed. With the same basic controller design for over 15 years, I was just hoping for something different at least.

Except you have 3 D analog sticks on each side. How is a track pad useful in such a situation?

Because they offer different functions. They both have their strengths and weaknesses. Just as moving a mouse cursor would be annoying with an analog stick, moving a character would be annoying with a touchpad.

Nintendo needs to sue here, I take seriously the idea that a company should be encouraged to create their own ideas versus leeching off of other successful products. On this controller I see the heart and soul of the WiiU and Dreamcast. Positioned in the center where everyone can see it is everything wrong with the gaming industry today. End this Sony.

I don't see how a touchpad is ripping off what Wii U and Dreamcast did at all...

Just based on the rumors that were available about the controller really, nothing in any of those that were "new".
Just on the first one, the size, adjusted handles, indented analog, placing of the ps button, mould of the plastic and the peculiar protrusion along the top all match the prototype very closely. Looks very much like a finished version could

Yeah! I know what you mean... I know a lot of people trashed the PS3 boomerang, but there was a .gif of how the hands would lay on the controller and it seemed ergonomic and way comfortable. My hopes are dashed...

Yea I dont think people read very much these days.

IT SAYS PROTOTYPE. It will be very similar to that but slimmed down and look alot better chill out.

I like the concept tho.

I just want that share button I really want to record my gameplays via through the system

That in my eyes is a HUGE selling point.

Overall it looks fine its not that bad.

Position relative to screen, which allows for pointing with precision. It still doesn't explain why it needs to be on the DualShock versus the Move stick.

The waggle is only there a little to agument the controller, but is otherwise still functional and appears to have relatively low COGS. I approve.

I think if they make this share button for real that

You would be able to record 15 min of gameplay with your audio from the mic share it to youtube right on the system.

THAT would be so amazing. What would be even more amazing is if you were able to share it then go play a game record more and keep sharing video simultaneously and playing the game.

This needs to happen Sony.

Wow, my Gif went around the internet and then back to here O.o Wasn't expecting that.

I guess the internet is smaller than I thought lol.

Back when the Wii was the "Revolution," I made the photoshop of the NES skinned Wii (somebody else changed the light from blue to red later) at 2 am and posted it on the forums at N-Sider.com. By noon the next day, it was on my college's message board. The internet is crazy fast.
