GTA Online Will require your Photo and ID

While I agree with the lack of source I don't really understand a lot of the reactions here as if this is comically impossible. This is a little too plausible. We're already seeing movement in this direction in some parts of the world. Big shifts are coming now that the first dominos are falling, don't think you're exempt from this stuff in perpetuity. It is unfortunately closer than you think.

You know the Karens and soyboys of the world are all over this.

I don't see this as so unlikely. Hell, here in Oklahoma you have to verify your age to watch pRon.

Anybody taking bets on when the credit history will fully become the equivalent of the social score people hate China so much for? It is on that path IMHO… look at the payment processors and payment provider fun topics lately and see the trends…

5 years ago governments saw what they could get away with while people clapped like fucking monkeys in their cages.

This should come as no surprise.

The problem is inevitable failure of security side of things and massive leaks of user data.

This would be extremely dangerous if there were pedo gangs with lots of money. Thank god they don't exist!

What happens if I as a parent are willing to grant my 16 year old access to play GTA? Will I be able to?

I hope they do it and it eliminates 99% of the toxic assclowns on GTAO. Then those of us who are not toxic assclowns can get verified and then maybe actually play GTAO.

Or even separate players into verified and non-verified lobbies.

(Of course none of that will happen... And for the record, the day a video game asks for my ID, they can fuck the fuck right off. I risk my life every day in my career field but I might have to appease some billion dollar corporation with legal identification so I can play a fucking video game?! I've been gaming for more than 40 years and it will be time to walk away when that shit starts.)

Unfortunately this is what they want eventually so I could believe this. I know the world is going the dystopian/1984 route but would want it as delayed as possible so hoping this isn't required yet just won't be surprised either, And if it does require it, I still hope there's enough pushback to delay this.

I honestly think this is happening. It's already happening with Xbox Live. It's the law of the land in the UK and soon to be Europe. Shit's fucked.

Imagine they also do ONE ID / ONE ACCOUNT, so "parents" can't verify multiple children accounts, and/or cheaters cant re-buy and verify a second account.

Imagine the loss in sales...

It's actually a good thing if payment processors go after 2K and their sales. There is no way in hell, they're going to win against 2k's lawyers and it might end this idiotic movement.

Seems to me that this is actually more a government thing than anything else. UK just started. EU will follow. And as far as I see the republicans in Murica are also keen on "protecting the children"....but only in the internet. ;)

Its just "funny" how this all happens again at nearly the same time.

Some part of me wishes it was true, but it's not. I don't know how some parents allow these 6 year old kids to play these games.

Not that it should be the developers problem to parent kids.

This what ms and Sony have to do, to access certain online features you will need verify your age here in the UK. There doing account based so don't have so it for every online game it's the law now.

At the moment it's just for messages etc but won't long till verifying are age to buy 18 rated game.

Chill with the cOnSpIrAcY tHeOrIeS, man

Though it's very interesting that in the past years we almost ran out of these theories because all have become fact. How strange 🧐
